This feels like it's going to bounce. I total got this wrong at 124 should have sold but I really thought after opening it would push on even more 150 was my sell lol how I got that wrong...... Gutted but it is what it is... Saying all that after we get over this BS again by our media and government we can get back to a normal life. We have a vaccination program that works the stats are more people are dying of influenza and pneumonia than covid, It's all BS but they have to be seen doing something just in case. This is a buy for me, not only cine but a lot of shares out there are going to bounce,,, IMO a good time to buy shares.
HNS_77 the World Health Organisation were stating only in the last few days that there have been NOne, ZERO, NIL, deaths from Omicron. Not doubting it transmits but then so does the flu and the cold and the flu presently results in more deaths.
Our approach is meant to be "data driven", led by the data. But our data isn't showing any major upticks in multiplication and imho its presently in danger of turning into our very own version of a Christmas pantomime.
You too Wellington , although I bet yours isn't with migrants which I'm sure makes yours better then mine lol
@Bonkers - I think we are violently agreeing!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
Hi Wellington hope all is well, I kinda disagree and think some subjects are overlaping each other.
For what it's worth I believe this new variant will turn out to be mild , I don't believe It will totally evade our vaccines and I believe that the government's responce in hindsight could turn out to be a overreaction.
The thread was originally around the s.p ,, no matter what our personal opinions are on the new variant the news is being dominated by it , and how much higher the transmission rate is , this will reflect the sentiment of the s.p rather then random newspaper articles from abroad.and hence why I think thats a major reason we find ourselves where we are.
With regards to the government's reaction, I totally agree and understand why they have reacted the way they have. As a government no matter what your thoughts are on them they can only react to official data , we were told this can take a couple of weeks.they won't react on newspaper articles around the world saying its mild , I'm sure they will listen to the scientists rather then the journalists.
Lpd comment was misleading , everyone here knows that the cases come first , then hospitals then deaths , to say we haven't had a huge rise within a week in deaths is a ridiculous thing to say , there is always the lag between the 3, if reports are correct we will see huge rises and then hopefully hospital admissions will stay low , at this time its to early to tell simply because people don't start heading to hospital until approx a week into having covid.
The government were crucified last time for not acting quick enough, and now they are getting hit for acting to much, they don't care about the cine s.p and some emotions here are caring more about what the government have done and how it impacts the s.p rather then understanding the government are acting on the data available and how best to protect the country , regardless on how we thin they are doing , and the data at this time like it or not Is a variant that has a exceedingly amount of mutations that could evade our vaccines and be more transmissible.
Imagine if they didn't do anything and data turns out to be the variant is more deadly then feared. The headlines would be intresting.
As I said I'm personally not concerned about the variant and if it takes over delta it will be a great thing , but my own opinion is I get why the government have reacted and get why the s.p has dropped as a consequence of that said action .
My investment I'm good with , cineworld continue to progress and over time the s.p will correct itself.
Obviously my own opinion, everyone here has a opinion to agree or disagree with me
@Bonkers - the Government's reaction can be summed up quite succintly in the phrase:
"Something must be done, this is something"
There is very little evidence that masks make a meanful difference in preventing onwards transmission and since the Government is only mandating them in shops and on public transport *any* difference they make is nugatory.
The current restrictions are performative - they are there so people who are worried feel that the Government (who they believe for some reason is responsible for everything) is *doing something*.
HNS we seem to agree , the thread was why the s.p was the way it is, rather then how deadly the new variant is.so I gave my opinion on that. With luck in the near future we get to see official data which shows its a mild variant , and then hopefully the markets can react to that.
Lpd I know you won't respond , however I will say i found the following comment you made shocking. It was ........
We are not seeing anywhere near the Exponential rises in infection rates, hospitalisations or deaths that we should be.
You know there is a lag in deaths and hospital admissions , first come cases then hospital then deaths we won't see that here yet if any.
The while idea behind why the government has introduced restrictions is to give them time , nothing else , time to see the data and time to get sure it's not a threat.
You say there has been no rise in cases , yet everyone else agrees in transmits more , here is south Africa's.
https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2021/12/03/africa/south-africa-omicron-cases-surge-intl/index.html&ved=2ahUKEwir1s_4lMv0AhUTecAKHSv9BwQQ0PADKAB6BAgHEAE&usg=AOvVaw2uE7yaAV40S73Gb5DxSoUL
Imagine If the government didn't react to this data, dont be such a bell end all your life.
@lpd - I have also seen an article from the independent saying they now suspect Omicron has been in Botswana since September -if that is true then looks at the graphs for reported deaths since September has shown virtually no change in that country further enforcing the likelihood this isn’t the doomsday variant some have suspected it to be
@bonkers agree with all that - my general sense is that the average person consuming the general media with no interest in how covid affects equity markets will be either slightly annoyed by these restrictions or indifferent (based on my interactions with friends/family/co workers) . But that as these people have no interest in equities so doesn’t inform how they invest the vast amount of media coverage is just noise.
The article I posted used some credible sources which suggests to me that hopefully this becomes the dominant narrative over time and for those looking to get ahead of the news to inform investment decisions might sway them hence it might impact the share price - of course I would like it to but in some ways not overalls concerned as I plan to stick around for while in this share - certainly at least until 2023 by which time we will have learnt a few more letters of the Greek alphabet I’m sure :)
HNS_77, we are now 1 week on from when Boris Johnson stood at a Downing Street Briefing and when he reintroduced "light touch" measures against Omicron.
One week on and with the press and media trying to sensationalise everything to try and sell newspapers and their news channels and Sage experts also trying to self publicise themselves imho and actually drill down into the data.
In the UK, given we have recently seen fully open borders, a fully open economy, COP 26 with international delegations, a South Africa v England rugby match and now targeted track, trace and isolate of those with Omicron and haveng come into contact with them forgive me for pointing out the obvious.
We are not seeing anywhere near the Exponential rises in infection rates, hospitalisations or deaths that we should be.
dyor
My concern HNS Is that the news is being dominated by in theory further travel restrictions.
Of course no more resteicrions has been added to the UK, and its criminal that your report that you found will be dwarfed by all the media reporting the pcr tests etc.
This will hopefully change when official news which confirms mild symptoms is announced in due course , I personally suspect they will want to see how the newly caught covid cases which has shown a higher transmission rate shows this mild symptom theory with better data behind them before making that official.
This new variant contributed to the decrease of the energy price (oil and gaz). By doing so the central banks in all around the world will wait until they rise the interest rate which is good for Cine. Vaccine is doing well in the UK and even the US so no more lockdown in the sight
If this emerging story published today in City AM about omicron being mild and not the cause of recent hospitalisations continues could be a very good week for the share price

It’s only “cheap” when it recovers!!! Which it will!!!! Otherwise why bother.
Each new "variant" means more cheap stock for the elite.
Unfortunately we seem to be in a position where news of new variant, what potential it can do and how its reported by the media is causing a real sentiment in the market in general. Talk of future lockdowns for me is fake news bit with what's happening in Austria and Germany which are both trying to force the unvaccinated to be vaccinated or at the very least make life so difficult for them they choose to get vaccinated.
To add to that we have a court outcome due which will prob put new investors off. We feel as investors we will win , cineplex investors will feel the same.
That said looking at a buissnes and I always say it we continue to progress , march financials we were shut , then we had staged opening with social distance and now we are fully operational.
Month on month figures show higher attendance levels at the cinema , supported and evidenced by the last trading update.
For me the s p has dropped on what's happening away from cines progress. For me it will only be a matter of time before it corrects itself.
S.p predictions I won't do , it's all guess work , if people knew we would all be very wealthy.
My opinion only.
Bit time and patience really is the agenda right now and plenty of it
Its being dragged down by the ever spreading new variant. Hopefully when scientists release that the vaccines work then boom, SP back to the 60s...............then we await the court case outcome and if expected then boom back to 70/80s
Hope SP will recover soon, crypto investors are rapidly exiting falling market, they will look to park money in undervalued stocks.
I'm really hoping the share price doesn't drop anymore, to be honest baffles me how it's got so low any words of encouragement and hope would be greatly appreciated lol.
Pending negative Court outcome decision do we think the SP has now reached its bottom level?
