missed one of your notes - Mulan hasn't put a social media post out since 3rd April. I'll keep tabs on it all and keep you across
Exactly. And the plot is out of the bag after the first Friday screenings anyway for anyone not able to attend on the opening day, so I guess it's no different.
Having said all that this share is beginning to get stressful!
Hey Hosai, Agree with you on the Nolan reputation, I'll watch it anyway. More thinking from the studio perspective about film details. Be interesting to see the approach they take. Tenet has put cinema posters up in Singapore yesterday and was a sponsor of the UFC on the weekend, but the california news today isn't good.
Re-new york - I'm sad enough to listen to all the new york press conferences :) His thinking is, new york is the only state (one of) who's managed to make the dip really drop in the US. He's also aware that people are coming into new york from all the US where cases are exploding, so he's being very, very careful.
Jenks - I agree not ideal if it's a movie based on a twist but Nolons reputation is so large I think people would go see his movies even if they'd been spoilt. He makes the type that people go back and see 2-3 times. Mulan I imagine has no real danger of spoilers.
New York seems to have taken a very different stance on cinemas than our scientists have but I guess this is like most things with covid.
Agreed. I think they will open as scheduled, Nolan intimated this also. Sure the studios are big but so are the exhibitors - massive: there must be huge pressure on studios to take a step forward - even if they risk some of the profits from one or two films, they wont want to kill the golden goose. Logically, if we wait for no virus, wait for a vaccine with 7 billion doses ready to go, every business will be gone globally. If KFC poisoned someone in Croydon would they shut down 10,000 branches incase it happened again - silly example but you get the drift! The show, as said in many a movie, must go on.
A staggered country cinema reopening is becoming inevitable. Question is, will Tenet ( twist based film) or Mulan be happy to release like that. No one knows. We know New York has no interest in cinemas at the mo, re-state governor. Unless these special air conditioning filters prove successful. Texas has just shut down bars and florida is doing what florida does, setting a new daily record today again.
Interesting question is whether cine in UK should open anyway on 31st July...maybe take a risk with "Unhinged"? To make full use of the VAT cut.
By the 31st July Eastern US including New York would also be free to open I imagine. Theoretically Florida and Texas might stay open, Disney world is still open, I believe they are more seeking an aquired immunity Sweden approach so who knows.
Release date of Tennet is still a month away, Cali might almost be ready by then?
Earnings season starts to kick in this week, keenly monitoring the market's reaction. Any big dips are just buying opportunities. @eWhispers on twitter is a good resource if of interest to people on the board.
Lockdown didnt help but it was Tesla that made the yanks poo their pants - obvious unsustainable tech bubble had to pop and it dragged sentiment/everything down. See Reuters, Bloomberg etc.
Hey Jodav58, yep, not just AMC, everything stateside seems to have reacted to the news.

Yes, unfortunately Dow has dropped like a stone .
(posting for latest info) California just announced it's shutting everything down again, including cinemas - https://twitter.com/GavinNewsom/status/1282752861835649024
Until cinemas open. Then the Studios will not start shooting many productions. So considering that the film industry is a $150 billion a year industry. And that California is billions in debt. Any delay will hit California harder than the Coronavirus.
The point is it underlines the sensitivity of open and closure, Cinema's are on the front line (or just behind the clubs and gyms) and should even a minimal number of cases reemerge when we are generally under control, to mitigate 52 turning into 552 Cinemas are at very real risk of re-closure.
Certainly something to watch out for, not saying of course every government / state will be as sensitive as the Hong Kongers but we will find out.
52 cases and 1 death? 3rd wave? Sensationalism at its best.
On that same day more people would've died from tripping over their own laces in Hong Kong. Let's have a little critical thinking to whats being shared
Another one (posting purely for reference) Reopening seems a hot topic of conversation today in the industry press - https://www.screendaily.com/news/screendaily-talks-uk-exhibitors-urge-us-studios-to-release-their-films-in-worlds-open-cinemas/5151464.article
