When the SP heads north at some future point we all win Bonkers, Ash and anyone else around/interested :-)
No winners/losers in chat, unless it's me than off course there is ;-) (for avoidance of any doubt by anyone that's joke).
:-) :-)
One week now for FF9, really looking forward to it :-)
Of course Bonkers, it was a good debate. Tbh, I really (rightly or wrongly so), only care to a degree due to cine mainly. Otherwise, I'd just be another spectator. I like Fun because he's more objective than most and backs it up. We've all had to fight our corner on this share and when I'm out, I'll be sure to let everyone know.
Q3 is almost here and we now have movies, larger global capacities and more freedoms. Come on cine, keep our frustrations and guessing to a minimum
I was gearing up for a round of Australia new Zealand vs UK but fun rightly called a end of discussion. Its getting late
Love debating with that fella , unfortunately he wins more then me
Ash there certainly wasn't any arguing matey , just debating, sobkeep writing your posts , me and fun will always post our ipinion, even if we don't always agree I'll always respect his and others opinion.
Sorry guys, I won't mention the c or v word :(
Fun that's a responce we can both agree on apart from the football , 2-0 England, my heart says 12-0 but head says different
Australia/New Zealand.
It's all done right or wrong now. None of our talking about what is largely past will make us enough from Cine shares to get the biscuits out so let's move on.
Shall be VERY happy when the main chat is about the business and same for wider life when number one chat is NOT covid.
Happy Thursday, the eve of the Jockaneese pumping Engurland ;-)
* last part may be said somewhat in jest*
Hey wack hope all is well, we both agree India should of been put on the red list much much sooner, all I will add is the delta variant only originated from India, and while the cases are more then likley from there it also come in the UK from various other country's
Great post B81.
Except problem is this 90% Delta variant came from India and not on a lorry from France with Camembert.
And it came while Johnson banned India’s neighbours.
That’s what rankles.
Fun I was awaiting your reply lol.
I get what your saying regarding government could have done better on the borders situation. However it wouldn't of stopped the variants. When ever we talk about borders we presume planes should of been halted , we never hear the other ways people arrive.
Last time I looked and data might be a little out there was just under 20k trucks a day coming into the UK, all carrying essential things such as food and raw materials, each truck has at LEAST one driver , as if the truck is going on a very long journey companys will pay 2 staff to keep truck moving while one driver breaks , thats a lot of individuals come in from acrss the whole of Europe daily.
Then we have the trains , vans , cars for various reasons. Also adding to the daily numbers of possible infected people that bring in goods we essential need.
The migrants are another one, it's a very touchy subject , I spent 6 months in the last year working on the boats picking them up , im as frustrated more then all of you I cam assure you, but the human rights act comes above any covid advice. But again 1000s of people coming into the UK.
All this BEFORE essential travel.
My point was and only this while I get hindsight of the government making some stupid desicions and I agree they have made some, taking into effect what I have just mentioned we were never going to stop variants coming into the UK , that mixed with selfishness of some citizens of the UK the government were never going to win this one.
To close our borders is impossible without dire consequences especially being on a island. So yes bad goverment desicions made but there are a lot more factors involved.
Just my opinion matey
Bonkers should have been no colours, it should have been closed borders full stop.
For those that absolutely had to travel then proper quarantine, not go home passing your virus along the way and please stay in if you can.
We say we will check on you, but we won't. If we do then a mobile number is sufficient where you could be absolutely anywhere at the time and job at say you are home.
Your point re: China is exactly why traffic light systems a joke.
Now we have amber where you are apparently not meant to go, but NOTHING, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING is really stopping anyone.
Why are there even flights that anyone other than crucial workers/specific reasons can get on?
I think a rise in cases at this point was always gonna be in the younger age group that haven't had a vaccine ash, it would acctually be very concerning if older people that had 2 doses were the ones getting ill, so the data is what you would hope to expect in this situation.
Let's hope we can continue jabbing the arms of the younger population , and when they are done hopefully we will see some data that everyone will like regarding cases , hospital admissions and deaths.
With regards to the government and desicions they have made , I think in hindsight of course they would of done things different, I work on the borders and while I agree certain countrys could of been put on the red list sooner if you like it would never of stopped the variant reaching our shores , after all a few people from China managed to I theory invect the world. I do agree delays could of led to more jabs and less cases etc so understand the sentiment.
I will add working at the borders the government were quite clear on travel , and for long periods of time major airports were deserted , my gripe with the whole thing was seeing how selfish the population is , and using loopholes in the system to travel, the government are to blame for delays but I could right a whole page on excuses that were are to travel and peoples selfishness was a major part also.
It's a subject we could go around and around on and I'm sure will same questions and answers will be in parliament one day
Fun, yes agree with everything and of course some are just doing whatever they want. However this goes for every age group. Leadership is a shambles especially seeing what bojo said about his guys. Just all too odd almost 18 months on
I don't disagree with you guys and as I'm probably younger, I am just seeing it differently. I just find it astonishing that it always takes a rise in cases, for the so called experts to explain what could be done. Surely things could have been far better for all age groups
What PrettyWild and Bonkers said.
Not sure how you can possibly see it any differently.
1st Priority's save lives, save as many as possible and stop the very high rates as quickly as can with "tools" at disposal at time.
Then it's severe hospitalisations.
Spread can be reduced/stopped with correct restrictions in place.
This is the part we have continually f*cked up on.
Too slow and never hard enough on border control.
Too slow and never firm enough with "lockdowns"
Too quick and never well thought out opening back up (eat out to help out, opening of pubs even before cinemas for example).
Too slow to adopt a wearing masks policy and sowing so much doubt in people's heads re effectiveness or otherwise of them.
Half Ar5ed at most stages!!
Vaccination prioritisation about the ONE thing got right.
I have to agree with pretty Ash.
The main difference is when a older person caught it there was a significantly higher chance they would lose their lives. Younger generation risks significantly reduced.
When the NHS was at its worst state the patients were the elderly, you only have to look at the way nursing homes for instance on how hard they were hit to see covis was also being spread by the old as well as the young.
I believe the reason that the younger are spreading this more is simply once the data came out and we realised that the chances of fatality were 1) age and 2) underlying health issues a lot of the younger generation didn't give a monkeys.
I never saw old folk at illegal raves , they certainly wasn't the ones packing the beaches last summer getting drunk and ont get me started on try telling any kid about hygiene.
I believe the government prioritised the vaccine order correctly and doing I the other way round would of cost more lives unless we locked up the elderly which would of hardly been fair.
Ashstash89, the older ones got the vaccines first to save their lives, and rightly so in my eyes. (in my area) The younger ones have took no notice at wearing masks, social distancing and most still don't think this the virus exists and its a form of "Control" as they hate the Conservitives, seriously I have had more arguments on my Facebook local area page with the younger generation resulting in me getting barred many of times. So yes it was better to vaccinate the older ones saving lives, than the younger ones which scientifically get over the virus quickly.
Believe me when the older generation got both vaccines they were out in the shops spending their money! Just like my own mother did and still doing haha. I think some forget that half of the older generation do not use computers to buy things from, they are retired and actually like going out the house, and Love to shop!
To some, this may not be relevant, but I think it is. It's probably the reason why we're in this mess in the first place (delays, backtracking, etc).
I've read today that scientists say that the key is getting younger people vaccinated as they (we/I), appear to be the ones spreading it. Why did they think it was the best idea to vaccinate older age groups so far in advance of younger ones? I understand the risks, probabilities, supply shortage etc, but the system seems like a whole mess.
I don't understand how it took them this long to realise that younger folk may spread it more. Now this in itself isn't the worst thing in the world, but it's the reporting, fear and dissatisfaction that some of the older generation may feel. They may still be reluctant to fully enjoy themselves and think twice about doing certain activities. This has probably caused not only a delay, but more wasted gov time in trying to figure things out. Companies like cine are caught up in all of this. I am totally confident in cine but the gov absolutely not. I truly believe we are where we are because of them and the irrational/manipulated market behaviour. Our fundamentals can counteract this, but we're fighting a battle to a fruitful recovery. Just can't wait for all of us to be rewarded
