Well they said work from home if possible, so we brought the Stena Don to Belfast!
But in realality with tough weather windows and a tight deadline we found Belfast a great stop on our way to Morocco for some client acceptance and a large crew change.
Only made possible with the co-operation of my old colleagues in the Belfast Harbour and Harbour Master Kevin Allen with agents Doyle Shipping Group and McMullan Marine.
Really enjoyed seeing the reaction on social media and happy to be able to share some photos. Even manged to capture the Stena Scotia on her way into port.
Safe voyage Stena Don #stenadrilling #belfast #onedreamoneteam #stenaline

I’ve just checked and Sgt Pepper has actually done a few trips back and forth now
I’m sure a week or so ago someone said it would be porting around Belfast for further supplies so completely expected. If you zoom in now there is a small craft “Sgt Pepper “ that has come from Bangor right next to the SD. I would assume with further supplies or personnel.
No idea how long it takes to get down to Morocco but would expect around the end of December which is probably a good thing as Morocco has blocked incoming international arrivals for next 2 weeks due to Covid.

The rig remains stationary well off the entrance to Belfast harbour.
The rig looks it’s going into Belfast harbour and not south. At least it’s underway
and finally stena don is moving. :-)
Hiy guys,
thank you for your answer and information.

Hiya sulgi....only posting as used to be invested and read Char board occasionaly....was in merchant navy for 40 + years.... i assume the Stena don was just hove to (stopped) and sheltering from last nights storm that hit uk....lot of wind and with the tow only able to do 6-8 knots it wouldnt have been a good night to transit from Scotland down the irish sea....i done about 18 months up there and not much fun in bad weather.

Hi sulgi.
Obviously I am not an insider so this is a best guess.
A lot of equipment for drilling comes from Scottish supply bases and i is suspect it may be easier and cheaper to load equipment from Scotland by crossing to Northern Ireland which just 13 miles away from Northern Ireland , and load from Belfast offshore . For those who follow ship movements expect to see supply boats going to rig.
The good news the rig is on its way.
Jimmy
Jimmy, you seems an expert. What is Stena Don doing outside Belfast port?
thanks
I am a long investor in chariot, perhaps for too long, but I strongly bevlieve that this forthcoming well will be transformative, it’s only 100meters away from the discovery A sands. There is going to be further weakness in equity markets and this may impact chariot in the short term, take advantage because we are drilling into proven gas .
Equity markets will in general pullback due to inflation, covid fears, pe multiples were way too high in general, chariot is different , take adavantage.
Jimmy
Standard rig protocol is that rig workers test negative before going to rig.

Let's hope that the spread of this new variant doesn't result in the upcoming drilling action in namibia, being put on the back burner again.
There's a fair bit of interest in offshore Namibia at the moment, with some of the majors about to drill their targets. If these wells are successful, then it is expected to generate interest in nearby plays as well.
I don't know much about Char's Namibia asset, but are the above developments likely to be of any relevance/interest/value to Char?
