Absolutely right Hedgehog, also anyone detained and even if they are convicted should be treated with humanity and not be denied access to medical treatment ,and and medication.
Also why was this poor soul kept in solitary for six years, he was being harshly punished even before the court had come to a verdict!
I think this highlights just where much of the corruption lies in Egypt and is another reason which deters foreign companies from investing there
Egypt seems to have been ideal in more ways than the obvious one for the directors set up their self rewarding pyramid scheme .
Notice how the Sukari general manager got a very nice bonus for failing meet his promised 2018 output!
Hedgehogg
The immediate warning signs "in" the article were
1. It is written by a PhD Economist
2. It is written about a group of PhD Economists
If I had time to write a book about some of the most overated and useless people on the planet it would be about PhD Econmists.
I have a strong preference for believing in the Easter Bunny, who delivers a few chocolates eggs to me, on time, every year.
Apart fromthe Easter Bunny, I have a strong preference for Gold, which, depsoie the best efforts by the PhD Economists, have failed to dislodge as one of the most important vessels of wealth. The vaue of the US$ has of course done what it does so well. Devalue every year .... and the PhD economists should be able to tell you why.
the gnome
whether innocent or guilty, should not take 6 years to get to trial.
This is a really sobering article on the state of the US and global economy.

Possibly it is overbought, who cares its run like a ponzi scheme anyway!
In fact after todays RNS I hope it falls through the floor so that the shares our directors have just been awarded for failure are worth nothing
I have no faith in the Centamin management they are overpaid and unfit for their roles and they are taking investors for fools!

KHARTOUM, Sudan — Mohamed Morsi, Egypt’s first democratically elected president, collapsed and died while on trial in a Cairo courtroom on Monday, Egyptian state television reported.
While no official cause of death was immediately given, critics blamed the poor conditions in the prison where he has been held for the last six years.
They said Mr. Morsi had been denied medicine for diabetes, high blood pressure and liver disease, and been held in solitary confinement for long periods. They also said the government had ignored repeated public warnings that lack of proper medical care could be fatal.
“I think there is a very strong case to be made that this was criminal negligence, deliberate malfeasance in providing Morsi basic prisoner rights,” Sarah Leah Whitson, executive director for the Middle East and North Africa at Human Rights Watch, said Monday. “He was very obviously singled out for mistreatment.”
President Sisi should be ashamed of himself it is an absolute disgrace the way that ex president Morsi has been treated whilst in prison and for what exactly, he wasn't bad chap really, he certainly deserved to be treated better whilst in prison, he has been systematically worn down and had a slow death inflicted on him by an unfit for purpose justice system.
Centammin share holders through the never ending court case have first hand experience of the lazy antics of the self serving up their own rear end full of their own importance judiciary,
Considering how long that bunch of legal wastrels have taken procrastinating over the Centamin case what hope of real justice did that poor soul ex president Morsi have, he didn't the Egyptian judiciary have been complicit in bringing about his death in order to serve the military dictatorship that claims to be a democratically elected government.
Shame on Sisi and his unfit for purpose government and shame on the Egyptian legal system,if they are reading this i hope they realise what a bunch of utter stinkers they are!
You could be right, NT8, but what if not all the rise was related to the recent gold price rise and some resulted from improving sentiment due to the legal framework shifting in Egypt and effectively making the court case obsolete, as reported on this board by some of our valued long-term regular posters.
Then again we have Mohammed Morsi's death and who knows how the people of Egypt might respond to that.
Also, with developments in Iran potentially destabilising global commerce, we could see a rapid gold price escalation.
On balance, I think I will stay invested in CEY for now.
I sold today , this was overbought and gold price can not pass the 1350 and possible a retrace to 1300 and CEY will fall to 90's.
