Different motives.
I only invested 200 in the IPO and got out at 25p. Seems an astute thing to do given the close of play price.
Depending how it gets on tomorrow I could get back in
I'm planning to leave and forget. I've got a varied PF and this is a another link. I believe the product is unique and patience will be rewarded. But most seem to suffer from attention deficit when it comes to share dealing unless you're a seasoned and successful day trader which I am not. Come Autumn those who sold their IPO will be regretting.
Dadsbatty - that's not what I said. Please re-read
I tried to buy £2k but like everyone else, I got just over £500.
Ignoring the fact that the shares weren’t in my Account to trade on Friday but if they were and if I’d turned £2k in to £8k or £10k, I’d have sold. Now that I only have £500 on the table, my £1,500 profit is still a good day’s work but I’m more likely to leave it and wait and see.
Completely understand those that cash in, for some, it’s profit and they’ll go elsewhere and I understand that for some, a £500 investment is peanuts and they’ll also go.
Obstando, if you could tell me which shares will do 300% tomorrow that would be great and I will sell first thing tomorrow.
Thanks in advance.
You start off by saying "Are they wrong for selling? Absolutely not!" and then finish by saying "Stop and think, you’re in at the start...at 5p!! This could go anywhere over the next couple of years! Forget the daily movements and enjoy what is developing before your eyes!"
Every investor has their own strategies and taking a 300% profit is understandable as you don't get that often in one day of trading.
As I mentioned in a post below if you believe that this share will out-perform every other share from this SP then yes it's a hold. If you believe you have an investment that will return more than this then yes it will makes sense to sell.
As you say this share could go anywhere over the next couple of years - up as well as down!
There are no certainties in investing and a profit is a profit so never disregard those that choose to take it.
My trouble is that every time i invest in a new company i think that its just best to hold hold hold. with this one i think i need to take some profit and buy back in later if it dips.
The value of £1 undoubtedly means something different to every investor and a some will have made a very easy £1k or £2k based on their IPO allocation. Are they wrong for selling? Absolutely not!
I do however feel with this only being an initial circa £500 investment for most why would you consider selling so early? Just look at the large buys going through on Friday, people are paying 4 and 5 times the value for a share that you’ve purchased at 5p! Some to the tune of multiple £10k and upward buys!
Stop and think, you’re in at the start...at 5p!! This could go anywhere over the next couple of years! Forget the daily movements and enjoy what is developing before your eyes!
Enjoy it!
