With their arms so full of those, they aren't *able* to get any other stuff to the till... unless they think ahead and take a sherpa!
Hi mousyrap
How sad am I? I wasn’t even there but I know exactly what they will be - Xmas cards box of 10 99p 3 for 2.
Everybody is doing a balance act at the till with them.
Goodness knows how Card makes a profit on selling 3 boxes of 10 cards with envelopes at 99p per box BUT 3 for 2 so £1.98?
I’m guessing it’s a loss leader because it’s for charity and it gets the customers through the door to buy other stuff?
LOL Roxbury!!!
I checked out our local today from the street outside. Seemed like 5-6 people in the queue, including one person with what looked like a big stack of books (maybe diaries?) from waist-ish right up to underside of chin... :)
I hope I made a good choice after I saw the long queue in Watford card factory last Saturday.
Thanks Noisey 24/7 mate!
When I said “wish me luck” above it wasn’t for the shares, it was to stop commenting on here!
Funny Story.
Went to a completely different Card Shop today (Felling). It’s only small and I got asked if I needed any help which I refused. I was trying to be as discrete as possible checking on the “stock”. Everybody got served so I was the only one there and upon being asked again I again awkwardly refused at which point the girl said I look “lost” so I blurted out “no I’m ok honestly I’m just looking for something for my Grandad”
Grandad? I’m in my 60’s and at a push could pass for 70 ha ha
Wtf.
Cue awkward silence as I left the store. Won’t be going back there again anytime soon. Ha ha
Evening RoxburyHouse, If I had the kind of money tied up in this as you, I'd be sat 24/5 ! Mon-Fri.
I find your comments very interesting, hope others do too.
Plus I think we all need a 'spy' keeping a watchful eye on our busy Stores.
Hope to hear from you (lots) before results in Jan............. if not
Merry Xmas & Happy New Year !!
Same in Wales Rox, I was in this morning, fast moving queue of about 12 people, 3 cashiers going, shelves fully stocked, looking good for xmas!!
Good luck mate.need to buy us drinks when it reaches 3x
Checked in this morning and all shelves stocked back up including the candles. I reckon they are just too busy to restock the shelves during the day. Three cashiers today servicing the queue when I was there today. Whatever the Card factory management are doing it’s working from what I can see. I’m having a break from all of this now. Going to try and switch off until the results in January. Wish me luck. Ha ha
O,1 candles are always the most popular.it doesn’t matter how many you order they still go out of stock.I have the same problem every week.we are always out of stock.
My guess is that if there was going to be any supply issues over the coming months it’s not going to be for cards because they are all manufactured in the uk although the special paper to make cards I believe is imported.
If there was a shortage though I’m also guessing the first causality would be 3rd party companies that the Card Factory themselves supply, Aldi and the reject shop Australia.
So all the paraphernalia like diaries cups teddies etc would be the first to go and these shelves would temporarily be filled with more cards?
To gauge it properly you have to go to the same shop a couple of days in a row and of course I’m onto it! Lol
I noticed they sell numbered candles and in one shop the most popular numbers “0” and “1” were sold out.
2 days in a row now they were not restocked so today if they are not available then I will be asking questions ha ha
It was the same yesterday at the West Auckland store. Hopefully they are just restocking their displays for Christmas! :)
My store was like that but I hope it's more to do with switching stock for Xmas rush. Any other observations from other stores?
So, after visiting my local Card Factory. I was met with a surpring amount of empty card display slots. Should I be overjoyed they are selling or disappointed that the displays were emptying ?
Is there a supply chain issue with (like a lot of other items) with greeting cards ? Or......
Have they had such a cracking weekend, they didn't have time to restock ?
