Latest news from Sebastian :
Next Friday should be one of the most important days in the trial for the expropriation of YPF.
- I say should because it depends on the content of the report that Burford will present after more than 8 months of investigation on the privatization and subsequent nationalization of YPF.
Should be a little squeeze coming
Cup and handle forming?
On the horizon. All depends on how low Gladstone can take it!
2022 here we come GLA
Burford is very difficult to accurately value compared to a average companies, as every case has different variable risk and profit margins built into them, with that profit changing up and down during the lifetime of the cases .
Burford can disappoint some investors with a somewhat lumpy yearly profit or a technical loss. When was the last time a company factored a devastating global pandemic into their business model and profit sheet, !!!
The share price decline shows exactly that, nobody knows how to properly value burford , just look at it tumbling for no other reason than our settlements have been delayed because of this pandemic, just wait and see next year as we should reasonably get some bumper settlements coming through.
Investors will pile in next year at even the mention of the free chance of burford getting a big settlement from the Peterson claim.
The drop in the share price, I will definitely just ignore this , as all sorts of market shenanigans are taking place with the market manipulators driving the share price down to a predetermined level to make a profit. We've seen it countless times ,
Next year will be a truly spectacular year for burford , why because the deployment money is rising substantially , and the substantial current deployment money is already invested with huge profits expected every single year bar this pandemic year. When the market sees before churning out $300 million +++ every year the share price or rather burfords valuation should be well over $3 /4++ billion Mark, that's what I see very clearly, and it's not a fanciful valuation at all. It's realistic expectation.
Ignore the pandemic shenanigans and look to next year and a very possible £14 to £18 share price
We are all aware by now of how complex this particular company is to assess, which is certainly not helped by the lumpy nature of the returns. The one constant we do have is a 30% IRR which has remained consistent over at least the last 5 years.
So taking that, I was trying to work out how to apply that 30% IRR figure to Burford's current position to workout a projected annual sales. Can anyone assist me on what metric that 30% should be applied to? Would that be current portfolio or on deployments this year.
I realise this is very simplistic and in any year a different amount of cases will reach conclusion, however I figure this could give me a rough average for us to project a future trajectory of the company.
There was some huge buys that went through after the close, interesting, or was it just a big shorter buying back the shares after they sold to drive down the share price to this level.
I thought that everything around that technical accounting loss was very well explained to investors, the huge portfolio is perfectly balanced and only waiting to be monitized after the delays from this pandemic. I thought that webcast was excellent
and giving me no concerns around future performances, I'm actually very enthusiastic about burford after listening to all the participants especially Ken Brause our CFO, I'm absolutely convinced our share price is being badly manipulated by the usual dark money making investment players , they drive the SP down and take investors with then and then buy the shares when they feel there's another profit to be had in the way up, we could easily see the SP recover to over £9.00 very soon , though anything can happen in this old game, it definitely will push way over £10 around our next set of results, we only need to get our caseloads settled in or out of court, yes others are using the pandemic to slow the court cases , but that can only last a little more before the inevitable happens, we know this industry is all about lumpy earnings , so throw in a pandemic and you have a opportunity for market manipulators to make money from these situations.
The next set of results should easily set burford on the pathway to a much much higher share price and valuation.
I would like burford in the distant future or anytime to raise much larger amounts of capital to get rid of the a somewhat confusing and Perplexing monetary systems these use today for litigation funding, yes it's all about diversifying the monetary risk, but I feel it could be made much more straightforward , we borrow billions, we simply pay interest on that money, after all we're already paying much more interest to 3rd party funding participants, like the sovereign wealth fund, just borrow billions from the one source , the capital markets, just like we're doing right now, only not $400 million make it $5 billion + I actually think this will happen in several years time, but I guess burford will need to earn more profits and have a larger balances sheet before they can ask for that sort of money, though a more simplistic and easily understood company structure could make burford more attractive to new and existing investors.
I'm very confident in burfords future earnings and business model, the massive profits are just delayed to another settlement time . Next year £18 easy. easy easy.
Good luck to everyone invested here.
I find it amusing how different people read sets of results. It's not an accounting loss - you're using a different formula to compare these numbers with old. Moreover, your attention should be grabbed by the record deployments - no mean feat in any half-year, but one with the working conditions the world has faced of late, extraordinary. This company is still being valued at over half what it should be - and that's without factoring in either the fund mgmt returns or YPF.
Don't we already know approx results? it's a $70m loss (depending on calculation methodology) as per 23-08-2021 RNS from 2 weeks ago.
I can buy on UK exchange today, US bank holiday today may cause you an issue. Release of 2021 Interim Results (through June 30, 2021) - 12:00pm (BST) 09 Sep 2021

GTX1, completely agree that this could be massive long term.
I see the price growing gradually then spiking on a massive success followed by a re-trace. Then grow gradually until the next news etc etc.
American pre- market volume and price is showing around £9.14p our money, it will be interesting to see what happens to the two share prices when fully open.
88% strong buy rating, this should in the medium term get rerated to between £14 to £18 , though it could pull back many many times before that, that massive increase in deployment funds has opened the eyes of investors here and America, even factoring in a pandemic hit our shares should slowly but surely move ahead over the short to longer term , even if there was a almighty market crash then burford should still thrive in any down turn, this market defensive quality should be rewarded with accompanying premium share price. This time next year I would expect burford to be around £16 to £18 if not more, our peterson case would be a very tasty bonus on top of our normal earnings.
also we're still only at half the share price of what burford was a few years ago before the MW attack. that's wrong and about to change , just look at the deployment funding money and work out yourself the very substantial profits that are coming our way,
Drivenvest123 £10.50p may seem fair value right now ,but investors need to factor in the substantial future profits that will come from our litigation deployment money , why would burford be worth £18 in t the past but not next year. I'm confident with £14 to £18 next year if not long before that time frame.
This company could unexpectedly give us a billion dollar profit, that's what's so exciting about this company.
I reiterate we could easily see a share price of £40+ in 5 to 10 years if not a lot sooner.
Good luck to everyone invested here.
Still think substantially undervalued. Admittedly difficult to assess what the company is worth due to the complex nature of the work BUR undertake.
I would take a stab at £10.50 as fair value.
This is a good build. Any idea what the chart suggests form here? The fundamentals are strong, but I'm no chartist..
Post regarding Burford .
Latam Advisors has posted .
Argentina was served with a brand new lawsuit this morning in a NY court.
- Titan, a Delaware-based fund, is trying to enforce an ICSID ruling for $325m.
- Titan acquired the rights from Burford by paying $108m
- This case is related to the expropriation of Aerolineas Argentinas.
Someone is obviously happy with the update!
Is this not meant for CoPL board or sometging?
Remember Arts plan is to make this a mid tier oiler. Take advantage of the mms foolishness.
Wow I’m shocked that this has not dropped or had a short attack!
Seems sentiments are now finally changing, investors are taking the time to underage burford and see the huge potential value.
The markers never cease to amaze me.
Sold another holding to buy more, didnt catch the bottom though, got 781 i think it was. Q is whether this will revert back to slow rise pattern or something else, and then when results are out, imagine anything can happen, rarely as expected or sensible
The missing pandemic earnings are still intact ok , they are just now chalking up extra interest payments + we mustn’t forget the fantastic and substantial increases in our legal financing and workloads. It’s looking brilliant for a very profitable future.
What a great sunny day to enjoy. GLA
Did this really fall 10% at one point yesterday!?
Amazing. I hope nobody got mugged into selling...
