Jim I too share my sympathies with all the victims, it would be far more useful if the media actually reported why and how humans did pass away from this virus. Really is quite daft for them to report on 13 year old sadly passing away but giving no detail whatsoever. Seems to me that there must be more to any of the stories that we never hear about, we hear the headline bad news, but never the recoveries and good news. this morning a chap on the radio came on actually a survivor but rather than share his experience and report on how he survived he droned on about testing moaning about the government and how much more could be done. Overally personally I feel its a disgrace the way this is all reported on a daily basis , if its so dam dramatic then at what point does the human race cease to exist , by end of April perhaps ! Keep safe everyone
oh rocket you have such a cheery disposition. I bet your friend(s) and family are delighted when you show up to a party.
PI, agree. We aren’t going to see any statements on FM or an extension for some time as the government have far more pressing matters to deal with. However, the company have enormous experience in dealing with the government in troubled times, it must be the companies number 1 attribute after all these years. We should be confident they know what they need to do and when. We are at the mercy of greater forces but I’d guess it’ll be around June/July time before clarity is gained on this.
Keith, don’t underestimate this virus. A poor 13yr old boy with no underlying health conditions died this week, so sad and tragic, my heart goes out to his parents. This virus is a killer and be in no doubts about it.
agreed Jim.
Hopeful that BPC are still a big part of that Bahamas future, mindful that there is a risk the government see a different path. Whilst I would like to have seen a statement that the government accept Covid 19 as force majeure, they have bigger issues to deal with right now than appeasing BPC shareholders.
China have been getting back to work for a while now with no reported dramatic new spike in cases, it may be too soon to hope this is the beginning of the end for C-19, but fingers crossed it buys enough time for the science world to do their magic.
I think it’s safe to say oil will be overwhelmingly backed as an alternative industry in The Bahamas once the world emerges on the other side of this pandemic. I am very comfortable and confident with my holding in BPC even in these globally troubled times.
Look after yourself everyone and take care care of those loved ones around you.
Problem.
COVID-19: What is really at stake?

Solution.
Bahamas Chamber of Commerce and Employers Confederation (BCCEC) chairman Chester Cooper backed oil exploration in Bahamian waters once regulatory safeguards were in place, saying, "The likely revenues can eliminate the National Debt in five years and contribute significantly to education, healthcare and development of infrastructure across the country and, importantly, an expansion in GDP leading to more favourable economic metrics."
Cooper added that that a conservative estimate was that more $1 billion annually could be generated if BPC discovered extractable oil and that the country’s oil sector had the potential to "transform the economy," both directly and through spin-off commercial activities.
