wow, a lucky day indeed, for him and you!
such stories always remind me how we are all only here as a result of a lot of good luck and fortune over many centuries, little decisions made daily by all of us have incredible consequences for the future whether we realise it or not at the time...............
I am glad your dad made that decision, as I bet you are!

O/T Just for interest 'A Date to Remember'
4th Oct 1942
http://uboatrrived.net/allies/merchants/ship.html?shipID=2302
My dad was on this ship the Sourabaya. It arrived in New York on 4th Oct 1942 ( his 29th birthday). He was 2nd cook and gunner. Many crewmen signed off and remained in NY until the Admiralty gave the all clear as so many ships were being sunk. A couple of his friends had spent all their money on shore leave and decided to sign back on the Sourabaya which was due to leave port on the 25th Oct. My dad having been torpedoed on another ship in 1940 en route to NY decided to stay and work for the US on orders of the Admiralty on the Liberty ships in Baltimore. All his sea mates died as the Sourabaya was sunk 2 days out from NY.
My dad survived and all seamen trapped in the US were held in the US and on orders of the British Admiralty had to join the US war effort.
4th of Oct seems a lucky day..it was for my dad.
good luck all
Halifax is crap if your mobile and not on WiFi. Very hit and miss. If your WiFi or desktop your normally fine
Anyone else having problems logging into Halifax?
My Dad would have been 106 as well if he was still here
Cheeky
... and potted it in the top corner. Nicely done.
I know. Just saw the opp to tease.
Yes Slowlyslowly.
As everyone reading the posts can tell, we the long term holders (that's basically everyone) are not selling and have not sold. Look at today's trades.
The general consensus to Hold is amazing, I have to say. I expected different but buys are all we see.
May we all be well rewarded.
Not one BOU has left my tightly bound share box. Not 1
This site doesn't let you change your username. So he was 76 when he signed up. Or born in 1976
Siborg I thought you were 76
Meanwhile, small buys keep trickling in. Because today is the deadline to announce in order to avoid suspension, some may well still be expecting news today. After market close is very possible. If (big 'if', I grant) that did happen, there are 10 minutes left to buy before news. If anyone was holding off, hoping for a dip in the price to let them top up, now's their chance.
How old are you if you dad would be 106
15 days to go. 4th Oct ( That's my dad's birthday he'd be 106 ). Well any day would be someone's birthday?
Yes, but (I know you know this) that doesn't mean it would be suspended tomorrow. No announcement today changes nothing: We'd still suspend after 4th October. And there's nothing stopping a full deal being released between now and 4th October, so that any suspension would be under a fortnight and would be with everyone knowing what comes after the suspension period.
So Tra1 is right: Today is only a deadline in one small sense.
Wouldn't worry about suspension either.
The company has to give 14days notice for an egm so if nothing today this will be suspended. Come the date in october
I would not worry too much if it is not today, still few days to go and the sp is going up gradually..
