HarChris. This piece you wrote....
"This is the problem with society nowadays, there seems to be no space for redemption, no space for reform."
......is absolutely spot on.
We all know that successful people like the Kamani's are successful because they push boundaries, when they cross the line then it's only right that they are brought to book by the law, and I see nothing wrong with a public shaming via the media in order to generate awareness. But by the same token these businesses must be allowed to reform, must be allowed to right their wrongs, and if they refuse, then let loose the dogs.
I personally think that the Kamani's know the game is up and they need to change. I also think that now realise that they can't run this show like Del boy, it's too big. I also think operation of theirs has already grown bigger that they thought it ever could, they know they can't cope and thats why they've pulled in help. As I've said before, pulling in the QC was a masterstroke because it will level the playing field.
I can't put into words my disdain for today's media, there's no honesty or balance in the reporting, just sensationalism with the sole objective of selling papers.
As yourself, I come here for bad news and also to pick up bits and pieces that your not going to find anywhere else. Like the fella who's mate was cabling up new offices in London, another fella who's watching boo build a distribution warehouse from his office window, knightrider123 who keeps an eye on our garage in thurmaston lane, the fella that monitors the internet traffic, not forgetting those that offer their own opinion. I thank you all.
I think the Kamani's will right their wrongs because they want to grow, to be the biggest a and the best, and to do that they need to change, and I think they will.
Typical UK navel gazing. We always apologise for doing well at business. Another point is that successful employers pay lots of PAYE and National Insurance.
ironically ASOS have recently been expandng their relationships with Leicester suppliers
The NCA is investigating ONE of Boo's SUPPLIERS....NOT Boo and it is not just Boo that will attend a parliamentary commission but a range of industry leaders. US court case is horse s***.
From the FT article.....
'Analysts are nonplussed by the noise. Peel Hunt dismissed the developments as “nothing new to see here”. Number crunchers at Mirabaud — the team that infamously set a price target of zero on Wirecard — said “this is one dip that we think is an opportunity”. It is a song sung in unison, it seems, with 15 out of 21 analysts still positive on the stock.'
The helpful thing with this forum is that the deramping is so intense I don't need to look around for bad press - I know for certain if there is any someone will be on here quick as a flash sharing it with everyone!
Sorry Bruce, was talking BWNG.Got side tracked.
where do you get that from its currently 50.9 see above fundamentals box
P/E is 6.
I also hold BWNG, turnaround going on there...next week will be interesting.Did 9% yesterday so hotting up nicely.
92% sales are now digital. Debt misunderstood.
Yep the press should get on a plane to china or the back streets of Bangkok and see the conditions most sports gear is made in. Far far worse then any UK factories.
Good to see boo exonerated of any unlawful conduct.
I sold to early last time i bought wont make that mistake again.. held my other clothing retailer Bwng for Over 6 months now and expect that one will take off next week with results due. Plan to hold boo Just as long if required - target £4.50 - Will get there with sentiment change.
I do feel we ought to inspect Chinese textile maunufacturers who supply an awful lot of British Firms.
This is the problem with society nowadays, there seems to be no space for redemption, no space for reform.
I'm all for the likes of the guardian uncovering poor working conditions but the aim MUST be to see positive long term change, to force business to clamp down on exploitation. So give the company the chance to follow through on their claims and then IF they fail to take the necessary steps that should be the cue to go after them again.
27. I am satisfied that Boohoo did not deliberately allow poor conditions and low pay to exist
within its supply chain, nor did it intentionally profit from them. I do not accept that
Boohoo’s business model is founded on exploiting workers in Leicester.
28. There is clear evidence that many of the processes which Boohoo has now put in place
had been planned a year ago and are not simply a reaction to the negative publicity in July
2020. Their culpability lies not in doing nothing but that they did too little too late.
29. That being said I am confident that the adaptations which Boohoo should make involve a
relatively easily achieved realignment of its priorities and governance systems and that the
Board should not feel discouraged. It has already made a significant start on putting things
right.
30. I am encouraged by the evidence I have seen that Boohoo’s recently-appointed Head of
Compliance has made contact with some of the statutory authorities with a view to,
amongst other things, establishing a single point of contact for reporting allegations made
by whistle-blowers or revealed by their own audit and inspection checks.
[C] To consider the boohoo Group’s compliance with the relevant law
31. There is no evidence that Boohoo has committed any criminal offences.
Boo moving forward.
There was me thinking we got rid of the clowns last week when the sp started rising. Do you actually think Mahmud reads this forum? Why don’t you read the report again and JLs response to the allegations! All Boohoo need to do is implement what they have agreed to. If Jupiter are happy with their response who are you to question it?
Have a conscious.Read the Levitt report. If your happy making blood money carry on but they knew how they were treating people and he still spouts the same crap
