Give us a NUMBER, WANG!
posted a few links yesterday evening , China on tour and some OZ
response stuff , all good for us , especially that comment from the
Chinese Minister Wang , we are going to give the Islands (10 of them)
what the us/oz have failed to give them..........
So when Gusmao meets him this week/next, high on his opening comments
will be GIZ a Tasi Mane , GIZ a huge loan mate..........GLA
:)))))))
Either way it’s enough for Oz to sit up and get their bureaucratic wheels turning
Misread that link , old head end of day brain fart, the Chinese Minister started
his tour of the various Islands today, not sure which day he is in TL itself, just
it part of the , Island hopping tour.........
Only quotes I can find for Asian time 26th , a statement EU and China should
be great Friends, after a chat with some EU minister.........GLA

Interesting reading. China are on there way go getting a big foot hold in the region.
This will be of concern for the west and Australia in particular as it put's a major nations forces right on your door step.
I see it as just another part of the global chess game that has been playing out since the begin of time ,
As long as the Island say the gas can flow and we can take our pot of gold i'm not to worried.

President Ramos-Horta and his political allies expected to tap Beijing for big new oil and gas-related investments
By DAVID HUTT APRIL 2022 - Asian Times.................
On the face of it, Timor-Leste’s cooperation with China is limited. In 2020, Timor-Leste exported
just US$1.1 million worth of goods to China, and imported US$190 million from it, according to
OEC data.
But China has built the presidential palace, foreign ministry and defense buildings in Dili, the capital,
and friendly overtures have been made by both sides.
Andrea Fahey, a PhD scholar at the Australian National University’s National Security College, said that
during Gusmao and the CNRT’s spells in government after 2007 they maintained close ties with China
as a way to balance Western influence, especially Timor-Leste’s main foreign partner, Australia.
“Whenever a project from Gusmao was put into question about viability, Gusmao went to Chinese
investors for help,” she added.
But the question is who might be more amenable to Chinese investment, especially concerning the oil and gas dreams of some of the country’s leading politicians. Much revolves around Timor-Leste’s oil and gas reserves, which account for around 90% of its gross domestic product (GDP).
For years, plans have stalled over the Greater Sunrise project. Timor-Leste and Australia previously
agreed to share revenue from the Greater Sunrise gas field, which is worth an estimated US$65 billion,
but that was after years of dispute and allegations of Australia spying on its much smaller neighbour.
government officials put forward the idea of the Tasi Mane project, a corridor of petroleum infrastructure
along the southwest coast of this country that would process the LNG at an on-shore site.
This was championed by Gusmao, who saw it as a key driver of local employment and national pride,
despite opposition from almost all other stakeholders. Ruak, a former president, was elected prime
minister in 2018 after running a campaign critical of the large-scale spending plans of both the CNRT
and Fretilin.
First official appointment by Horta , was to install his good friend and real party head Gusmao
as head of getting Tasi Mane (Gusmao project originally) and China in down town Timor Leste
TODAY (26th already)
Wonder who Gusmao will be having a chat with...............lol

During his tour, Wang also plans to visit the Southeast Asian country of East Timor, where Chinese

East Timor and the Solomons sit on opposite sides of Australia's military base in Darwin, offering
possible vantage points for China to monitor activity there.
