Well Howth, 1 down, 2 to go.
Not exactly what my grandson would describe as "Diddly Dee Music" but at least you could cut a few shapes to it. The Craic that was also evident during the performance added to it, demonstrating the personality of the performers.
Thanks Toyota, I for one enjoyed it but then I am a sucker for Irish Country and Western.
Here's hoping that the Silent Majority in America restore its equilibrium on Tuesday and that we will be finally rid of the bullying clown.
Following this Pandemic, there is a very serious job of work to be done in America and the UK - particularly in the UK because of Brexit where we can only guess at the damage.
So far as Ireland is concerned it may very well be a win win, when we are told that certain products will cease to be available readily here.
Might just grab me a few shares in Musgrave's, they can profit like many businesses in the south from the new sea border and my bet is that is just what will happen. The dynamic in the south is not matched up here where so much business depends on UK patronage.
Good luck all..
Almost 50 years ago i traveled with the "Prince Oberon" to Harwich and the night after from Hollyhead to Dun Laoghaire
to make a bicycletour through ireland. Some time later i´ve heard the "King of Fairies" played by the "Horselips".
This music is forever linked to me with the passage on that ship marching through the northsea.
Last night i viewed and heard a lot of youtube videos. With this link you can see the Horselips playing "the King of Fairies" and here the story almost closes, above Dublin on the roof of a Bank of Ireland building.

I think this evening i will have a good Glas of ( Scottish ) Whisky.
I also hope the Fairies will help the next days....
Silver its certainly within reach .. maybe early next week ..and more . Hope AIB follows a bit of a letdown today....
213 seems to be on the cards
Howth, if you go out to Howth and look out at the blue sea and whistle to the fairies, they might have pity on all of us and immediately grant all three wishes and hopefully they do because we are all suffering here for far too long.
Hopefully Biden will win Texas and Florida and the winning margin will be so high that there will be no ambiguity.
Looks like this could be holding up for the brexit news
@Howth I believe you will get all 3 wishes. However, I would be worried about what happens in the US after Trump looses.
The time between the election and the inauguration will be crucial.
I jumped out
I bet the dow will close up 400 point. In the morining this will shoot up 2.09
Good results from AIB... might see this heading back up towards 1.1/1.2 over the coming weeks .... BoI looks positive also.. 2.2 perhaps... IMO
Thanks John. Being optimistic, I am hoping for three positives in the next few months;
Joe Biden being elected and a reduction in trade wars with friends and foes.
A vaccine being approved and Covid controlled and businesses resumed .
Brexit agreement reached, EU holding strong but giving Johnson a fig leaf to safe face.
That's my wish list anyway.
Ifs its not 0.98 first thing morining i will give you 100euro. This will hit 210 very soon.
Good morning Silver horse.....You are certainly putting your money where you mouth is.....I looked at this share yesterday at 1.88 euro......I didn’t buy now wishing I had...so looking at AIB.....where do you think AIB is flying to...Silverhorse...?
Took a risk and bought half back 1.98, its dieing to go up more. Tomorrow looks good for this and AIB to fly
The statement actually tells you very little about the underlying health of the business. The only key indicator that has held up above expectation in the CET1. That may actually be because of very little realization of any bad debts or business failures... yet. Government schemes are keeping the wolf from the door ..so to speak...for now.
Banks make profit by lending money. From the numbers, bank of Ire seems to have hit a brick wall. new loans are not keeping pace with redemption. it's difficult to say with how much covid affected the loan draw downs so the bank will get a free pass this time round anyway. People are worried as can be seen by the growth in savings on deposit. There is little apatite to borrow despite historic low rates. At one time all that cash on deposit would have been put to good use. Now its actually a liability. ( The ECB continues to be more lethal to banks than covid.)
So the question is. Is the flat to slightly negative results a continuation of a long term trend masked by covid OR is covid holding back a business that is been reformed by more tech and less staff into a profitable business?
