So many exciting potential avenues for in-game advertising.
One that really springs to mind would be to get in on Cyberpunk 2077 which for non-gamers is one of the most anticipated upcoming game realises due to come out in April 2020. Set in a future dystopian setting it looks like a perfect opportunity for brands to come up with some really inventive marketing that would slot into the world perfectly and only serve to increase the realism of the game. Take a look at a trailer and imagine some of the advertising opportunities in that big open world. Incredibly exciting and something I'm hoping BIDS are looking at.
Anybody else seen games where they've been thinking it would be perfect for native in-game ads?
I have been wrong before but it makes so much sense for the new fortnite map to utilise BIDS plugin that my brain will explode if they don't. It's free to play, the ads are non invasive and they have a HUGE playerbase and will have advertisers lining up via Dentsu network to get a piece of that pie. It would be like printing unlimited money. Honestly it makes so much sense that I don't think my brain will be able to process their failure to capitalise on this very obvious gigantic income source should they not have BIDS ads.
Jim, I think (and hope) you may be right. The rns on collaboration with epic and unreal engine suggest as such. Fortnite Season 11 will be launching on all major platforms this week So I’m going with my gut and holding for a huge RNS, the revenue streams will be unicorn so let the MM’s play their games. When the above RNS dropped that was a deal sealer for me. Just got to man up and hold.
And with a whole new map they could quite easily create an urban area resembling times square.
With a blank canvas I'm sure there are a huge number of ways to creatively bring in some billboards or other ways of advertising without destroying the feel and immersive nature of the game.
Sounds exciting... cheers jim
For all the non-gamers out there invested in BIDS thought you might be interested to know that last night the in game fortnite world was destroyed and sucked into a black hole. Now if gamers try to log onto fortnite they just see a black hole with occasional seemingly random numbers appearing out of it. All of the fortnite social media feeds are also showing as plain black backgrounds.
It seems as though the launch of fortnite 2 is imminent. Purely speculation of course but what a perfect time to introduce native in-game ads into the game don't you think??
