The objection to and indefinite obstruction of new business that would be beneficial to Sweden and its inhabitants is completely mental. Moreover, official application forms not being dealt with in a timely fashion, precisely and only because of political back-scratching, should be investigated by the Sweeney.
In law the Greens cannot oppose the licences but they can have a word in the SDP's ear and say "delay the decisions" which is basically what has happened.
As I mentioned, its all "I'll scratch your back if you'll scratch mine". i.e. party politics. Party politics that's ruining the prosperity of a country and preventing people from getting jobs and of course from our view, costing the shareholders.
FYI Amanda Palmstierna is an MP for the environmental party
Thanks for the info Paul - equally it should be pointed out that on Avanza there is also discussion about the Greens also mentioning that they are against mines , which is opinion not law (I don't deny that there seems to be a log jam and an election may help :
From Avanza via Di Article
Amanda Palmstierna is careful to point out that the Environmental Party should not interfere in the law test, even if the party has a will on the matter.
“The Ministry of Industry probably sees the attitude of the Environment Party, but the government should try the question according to the law. It's two completely different bags, ”says Amanda Palmstierna.
End quote
Paul, obviously that's if we hear nothing at all from Baylo and/or the Government re our application from now 'til Christmas.

Thanks for sharing Paul. The Greens surely cannot automatically oppose any form of industrial progress that will not impact directly on the environment. In fact, they should be in favour of sustainable, green operations. We have submitted our application according to Governmental rules and, subject to scrutiny not least from well-established, top law firms, it appears that we have definitely satisfied the criteria for attaining a concession. Therefore, we should now be focusing on the law, the Government not upholding its end in the application process. At this stage, in my opinion, if the Swedes won't do it, Kurt needs to bypass all politics, and, before the year is out, formally demand a date from the Government for a decision on our application. If one will not be supplied, he needs the official reason for that, which can then be examined by our legal team.
We can't wait to see what the make-up of each successive Government will be, just to find out if we are lucky enough to have a collective body that will bring our case for Kal to its fruition. That is wholly ridiculous and completely unacceptable.
In my opinion.
Cheers Paul.
Sounds like the other companies aswell as BEM should inform.the weak politicians that employment and all the positives that are linked to work need to be addressed.... and ask the greens what the country should do with all this iron and minerals in the ground ..... maybe ask them to close the door behind them when the future of mining has been discussed.... time for a push forward from the miners and some pressure from more than one company director would add balance to the situation.... legal isnt a naughty word.... and sure it is moving up the ladder as an option for the queue of paused applicants
I think that the only legal play Beowulf would have would be 'the International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID): the primary institution for handling the cases that companies file against sovereign states. (The ICSID is not the sole venue for such cases; there are similar forums in London, Paris, Hong Kong and the Hague, among others.)'
yep! Ive tried to be as accurate as possible (he is quite into his politics) with what he told me & He also mentioned the 2-3 years wait.
Where this leaves KB and possible legal action I dont know. Can we hold out that long? What happens if there is still no majority rule after the wait? What are the new rules being proposed for concession & will they apply to existing applications?
ps the one positive thing is that He was adamant this is nothing to do with being a non-Swedish company
Patience..
PaulAim. It this assessment is correct then that is very worrying as we have 2-3 years to wait unless the current minority government is forced to go to the polls early. As we know parties and politicians hate giving up power. Democracy can be a tricky beast especially when a minor party holds governmental power beyond their electoral power. Maybe this is a taste of things to come here after the 12th Dec
Had a chat with my Swedish mate yesterday and I guess what I'm about to write is known to most of you, but here is His assessment.
On Tuesday it was big news in Sweden (press / TV) regarding the outstanding mining applications and their continual procrastination. Beowulf were mentioned along with many others including two large Swedish companies, so its not just us and its nothing to do with lack of Swedish ownership.
The problem stems with the minority SDP government who need the backing of the Greens. The Greens apparently oppose all mining projects, or anything that could have an impact on the environment.
So to obtain support from the Greens they have to tow the line, i.e. its all party political games.
Additionally the Greens have managed to infiltrate the Environment Department (probably not its exact name), so there's a second hurdle top overcome.
He feels that nothing is likely to happen while this current situation continues, so that's basically waiting for the next general election and hoping for the right result.
Frustrating to say the least.
