I know Doug, I've cut back on it a bit myself as well. Lol.
I’m praying 5 times a day Eric and going to the chapel, Kirk, and temple.
Doug, fair enough. No, of course we can't be 100% certain that the two Ks still haven't spoken, but we going off what we know so far only. What else can we do Doug? Many of us have been and are still optimistic about what we hope and trust will be happening behind the scenes, but we are soon approaching nine years of wondering, hoping and trusting. We must pray that K-P breaks the mould.
Thanks Flip. I'm rooting for K-P to change my view of things here, because we've had too much to deal with as investors really. I'm determined to see this get beyond the decision and looking forward to Kurt's plan, but even now we are waiting again for politics to play out, whereas it should have been a decision based only on whether our application was good enough to satisfy the criteria set by the Government for the award. Now, what has been so difficult about that? Lol.
lbjj * Thor has been in a number of meetings with various Sami groups as well as a full day out with them on the skidoo. Yet he has not even said hello to Budge. Don’t you consider that odd?*
I don’t think it’s odd - and are we 100% sure there hasn’t been any off the record contact? If Thor is minded to YES, then the ones he needs to spend most time with ahead of that decision ARE the ones most against it - he will be trying to take them (Sami) with him, which, in my view, is why he’s right in being empathetic and being seen to be so.
Well said Eric, I couldn’t agree more.
This saga has rumbled along for years and Thor will be well aware of all the delaying tactics by both the Sami and Government Ministers. I am surprised he has allowed more time to the Sami - if you have strong objections to anything you don’t need to be given extra weeks to think what those objections are, or indeed dream up new ones! Any attempts to delay matters will be seen as what they are. Enough is enough.
Kurt has put our case clearly and Thor probably doesn’t need to meet with him, it is all there in black and white. I suspect he wants to be seen as listening to the Sami and making sure they cannot come back at him to say otherwise.
With regard to “competing land uses”, the point is the mine has to be above the minerals - it cannot be moved whereas reindeer can graze anywhere. A “No”on Kallak would have a 100% negative impact on Beowulf. A “Yes” on Kallak would have less than 1% impact on Sami land use because of the very small area of land involved.
Time now for Thor to step up to the plate and make a decision.
The MI being satisfied that our application was sufficient all those years ago should have been enough. The system set-up has been cobblers from the beginning. The MI, in my view, should have the final say without the need to ever refer back to the Government. Imo. I'm glad that the CAB is being shaken and stirred. Lol.
You are right Chops, but they are resourceful, so surely they'll find something else to try and prevent this decision from coming. We legally meriting the award has always fallen by the wayside.
let's be honest here. They haven't got lots of time to come up with more delaying tactics... they've already come up with them, months ago when they first received the unesco docs and translated them straight away (that is if they even needed to at all!).
Then they sat patiently awaiting the deadline to come into view before demanding they needed a translation.
I'm on your side but to say the "Sami can't come up with anything new now" don't underestimate them after all they said the needed the UNESCO report translated and that got things delayed a bit longer, now they're desperate they have lots of time to come up with more delaying tactics..I hope I'm wrong but...
John the golf,
You are perfectly entitled to have faith in your heavy investment. But it is informed by a need for a payoff rather than the evidence thus far.
It is sill of you to say anything about the decision being a no. Of course that will never happen. But delay is the ally of the weak, and you have 9 years of evidence of that being their only tactic.
Thor has been in a number of meetings with various Sami groups as well as a full day out with them on the skidoo.
Yet he has not even said hello to Budge. Don’t you consider that odd?
Thor has said on many occasions he loves mines. It is meaningless without a decision and action to back it up.
He probably loves world peace and an end to the climate crisis, but he is unlikely to act to make a jot of difference.
His performance on TV tptesterday was just more hype. He was deliberately general and vague in his comments, and he wasn’t pushed.
If Paxo had been interviewing, when he professed his love for mines, he would have pushed him on the long overdue Kallak decision. There was none of that. Another easy ride for Thor.
I think the most important fact has been overlooked and that was ADF's point on the CAB.The removal by the government of Mr.Antti.Why would they do that and why at this particular point in time. This is not a coincidence as some may believe. It is simply another piece in the jigsaw to help give a positive decision. His removal, the MI's approval which has not changed in all these years plus our new man K-P T loves mines,I am sorry but I cannot see that all adding up to a NO and as fot the lengthy and thorough investigation - please don't make me laugh. They have had enough information to last them a lifetime and the Sami cannot come up with anything new now. Whereas a positive decision is yet to be given, this is the best position we have ever been in for that being delivered. This is the opinion of a LTH who is very heavily invested and remains so because I have faith in Kallak coming to fruition despite all the twists and turns and set backs we have suffered.GLA to all those WHO ARE INVESTED!
