Thanks Roller. Yes, I'll think about doing that. I'll wait a little while longer though to see if there's an RNS update. I'm unsure as to why Kurt hasn't yet replied to Takayama's email, it's not like him to be unresponsive, no matter the content of our messages, so perhaps it's just a case that an RNS update is due, even though he hasn't yet told Tak that.
Eric that is an excellent point, please email Kurt and basically write what you just posted..we need information or closure, have a great afternoon..
Extracover that is a very fair comment. It wouldn't surprise me if the Government letter to UNESCO was still in draft stage. Lol.
Interesting point re UNESCO and us shareholders feeling that it isn't a matter for those folks to be involved with. We know why, as does Kurt of course, so perhaps he could write to the Government and ask for confirmation as to just why Baylan deems it is a matter for UNESCO. Considering the known facts about the lack of any close proximity at all of Kal to Lap and it already having been established that there would be no direct impact etc, therefore no threat to the World Heritage site or status, how does the Government justify the decision to ask UNESCO for comments and delay the process further?
Perhaps Kurt could do something along those lines, if he hasn't already, but he should tell us if he has. It seems to me that an update on the Kal situation is long overdue, because we really don't know what is going on. We only know that the case is still stuck in time awaiting UNESCO comments that should have come, on the face of it, many months ago.
Tut!
Suzy2 Re: "Takayama. I have thought that...that you have a better insight than I have. ;-)". Sadly you've missed the point (again) of what I wrote.
I'm off for the day now...cheerio, I've got a hedge to plant. Sorry Roller that's just a fact, I'm not giving you any tips about how to do it, for that I would require a fee.
I'm just wondering how old Tak thinks I am. Anyway, I'm not telling:
“One should never trust a woman who tells one her real age. A woman who would tell one that would tell one anything.”
OW
Presumably it is cut and dried that a letter has actually been sent from Baylan to UNESCO?
Or am I suffering from the lockdown blues?
It's all a matter of trust really and that is in short supply regarding the way this process has been handled by those in power over the past 8-9 years.
Takayama. I have thought that...that you have a better insight than I have. ;-)
But Baylan waits for a response from UNESCO, or why would he have asked. You dont think is a matter for UNESCO, neither does KB, or me, or all shareholders for whom I have seen comments. That does not however change the fact that Baylan waits for their response, as far as we know.
Suzy2 - I don't mean anything disrespectful about your age. The point is more that it's easy for Baylan to kick the ball down the line. I hope Treetop is correct - and frankly if I were in opposition, I'd make a meal of this too. But of course, I'd be making enemies along the way for precisely the reasons WIW gives. I really don't know the correct political response! No one does - it's a gamble either way as you'd be making enemies either way! Ironically, Kurt is in the unique position of being able to change this from a two way bet to a one way bet. Investment wise, I do think this is a great opportunity to top up (I did so quite recently). I'd say risk (of a decision not happening in the next 12 months) is at the lowest it's been for some years. And Suzy2, I'm afraid my statement is true! I've pretty good insight into what my personal view is! Better than you!
And...thinking around the box...if our children are going to blame us for the recklessness of this investment might not the Samis children wonder why their Mum and Dad didn't see this opportunity and buy shares in Kallak for under 5p?
hahahaha

Just saying.
So...Takayama, you're expecting not to pass away? Anyway, I see your point that Baylan thinks its a good bet that we'll all die before he grants the Concession. But don't shareholders in general tend not to be young because young people have got more urgent things to do with their money. And you've made a statement that isn't true in "My personal view is it's worth mitigating risk when we have the opportunity to do so. Here, we've chosen not to do so." And the Members of the Rikstag campaigning for this are not about to die, hopefully and the Moderate Party are getting very close in the Opinion Polls.
I certainly hope so.
They will start election canvassing this year and certainly the opposition will, as Treetop suggests, use the history to criticize the governments performance on the economy and jobs. Perhaps this is what Baylan waits for, which as I have said before, I believe to be extremely dishonourable to use these things as election tools rather than doing the best for the people when required. As selfish as us shareholders may be on this subject, the reality is the economic benefit to the county of Norrbotten, and not forgetting the 73% Swedish shareholders.
Any election prospect would also encourage the opposition parties to go full on about economic decline due to government inability to make decisions that affect jobs and destroys its international reputation for mining. Baylan would probably counter with a green/Sami response but that may not be enough to sustain a precarious coalition.
Well, if Baylan's intention (or that of his successor) is to wait until BEM folds, then the election date works well for him. Don't do anything until that date passes. I'm guessing there are a significant number of elderly shareholders, who with all respect to them, will one day pass away. We've waited 8 years, it may take another 8, or 18 even. The steady, non active shareholder base that Kurt enjoys will slowly whittle away as shareholders decide it'll never happen and sell up, or as their kids take their inheritance and wonder why on earth their parent had invested here in the first place? That's what a politician would be calculating if they were trying to procrastinate. Personally, I reckon this year is it. My fingers and toes are twitching and my abacus calculates that the chances of UNESCO getting involved in domestic politics is low. We'll see a decent SP spike after UNESCO come back with that answer (pre summer), and then we're going to get a decision in our favour (around Oct/Nov). Pressure has never been greater to make a decision. At least that's what my appendages are indicating.
Buster probably considers covid a scam also
Sept 22 (Election) is a long wait.
Gotta say Buster, I enjoy your posts! You don't sell a Covid cure consisting of some red yarn and some divine cleansing oils btw? !!!!
Yes, WIW, I agree with you. It's got nothing to do with us on this bulletin board unfortunately! Nor has it much to do with Kurt. At the end of the day, Baylan can do what he wants. That where the power of decision lies. If he wants to approach UNESCO, no manner of strongly worded posts on this board, nor from Kurt, will change anything. If he wants to apply for an extension of the site, he can do so, regardless of whether it is 'right' to do so, regardless of his chances of succeeding. If only we could decide what happens!! Unfortunately we can't and neither do we have a crystal ball. Neither does right always prevail in the business world (possibly we'll see that here too). My personal view is it's worth mitigating risk when we have the opportunity to do so. Here, we've chosen not to do so. Ho hum. It's a political balancing act in the end - what's going to get Baylan and his government through the next elections? A mine/jobs etc or preservation of Sami heritage? Who was there first? Where's the future? It's also possible to see them as NOT mutually exclusive.
They don t like buster he spoken the truth they try to keep me silent but it does not work !
This share is awful and needs the kiss of life from Jesus .
Bah , Bah , Bah these lot on here be better going to the bookies not one of them has broken even , they to shameless to admit they are losing money and give others false hope in their bad investment !
This is had it please invest elsewhere or your lose your MONEY , Look at 10 year chart it bearish and going down the pan ?
Yes I completely understand this as the mine is significantly outside of the world heritage site, however, despite the fact that we (shareholders) and KB say this, it seems that Baylan IS relying on their feedback as a weapon to respond to critics with.
So we wait on Baylan, but Baylan waits on UNESCO, therefore we wont progress before the UNESCO response regardless of the value we put in that response.
Do you agree?
