Absolutely good news that Ganfeng are looking to further invest in lithium in Sonara and very likely multiple lithium compounds - what will stage capacity be at the start of production!
Just a footnote, my link to the FT article was at 8:54 a few minutes before the full article was posted on KDNC by Barksy1, my source was a twitter notification from my following of Bacanora's twitter feed, Barksy1 is a long time valued contributor and I would always acknowledge posting from another BB if that were the case.

Hong Kong-listed Ganfeng, which has agreements to supply lithium to Tesla and South Korea’s LG Chem, has grown rapidly over the past decade into one of the world’s largest producers of lithium through acquisitions of assets in Australia and Argentina.
In May last year the company bought a stake in London-listed Bacanora, which is developing the Sonora lithium project in Mexico, the country’s largest lithium deposit. Mr Wang said the recycling plant could be near the mine, and both could supply the North American market with lithium for batteries.
Talks about Chinese Batteries in Electric Buses all over America that need recycling, and Tesla has bee selling there since 2012 and some of those will require recycling soon. That it will supply LG Chem. That is has bought stake in Bacanora and recycling plant could be in Sonora near the BCN MIne. They would aim to supply Lithium to North America.
Warns Mexico off nationalisation of resources citing Bolivia where nothing is happening because they nationalised resources. So no jobs or money from doing so as no mines are built.
All sounds still good that there is still interest in and around developing the Baconora Sonora mine.
Things should get interesting soon, I hope.
Thanks Barksy

Basically Wang Xiaoshen, chief executive of Ganfeng Lithium said the recycling plant could be near the mine (Sonora), and both could supply the North American market with lithium for batteries. I'm surprised the SP hasn't moved higher.

I have posted that exact article on the Cadence board this morning
If Tesla intend to build a cathode manufacturing facility it make sense to build it on Sonora and feed both North and South America from there. Following on from that, it's logical to build a battery facility at the same location as the battery recycling plant using the recycled materials and it just happens to sit on top of the world's largest deposit of Lithium in clay. Logic then suggests that the same plant could also supply India and Asia with batteries and cathodes .... and that leads on to why not build the first terrafactory on Sonora, supplying complete cars for S America and the global market and supplying batteries etc to other OEM's also producing in Mexico. Ford, don't forget, is on the doorstep in Hermosillo. It's all about shortening material supply chain for maximum economy and accelerate the growth of electric vehicles and storage. What other raw materials are mined close by in Sonora?.... copper, borates, zinc, manganese, gypsum, gold, the list goes on...
Does anyone fancy pasting in the main points of that article?
I'm not a subscriber :/
Plans have changed,
Peter Secker adamant they supply would be to China and Japan:

Will we get an update on production, seems Ganfeng are running the show - I'm not complaining the battery industry is on the cusp of colossal growth.
Looks to have created a bit of interest, added a few more today
