Funny I heard the same about the platform. Standard for new systems to be worse than old ones these days. No value put on high quality IT skills just a plethora of project managers talking BS and outsourcing to India.

I worked on the previous platform, which won awards many times, only to be replaced at a massive cost with a much inferior one, a huge mistake and waste of a few hundred million £
one thing is for sure the smartinvestor system is hopeless compared with what they had before. But it is not just barc when chumocracy applies believe you me!
The culture is utterly toxic and the most stupid get promoted. That what is so depressing.

sorry to hear that, hope you are well now, what you say does not surprise me
Had a heart attack a couple of years ago, had a CABG x2, manager never contacted me once, delegated it to someone else.
Got 'selected' for redundancy 12 months after return. They say all the right things & do all the wrong things.
Couldn't wait to get out of the door - toxic culture
I was lucky in that our small team had worked together for 25 years as contractors and employees so we avoided a lot of nonsense, stress and unnecessary pressure a lot of others had to endure, I enjoyed my time but despaired of the decisions made at the top, one of which resulted in our redundancy last year
I just think the culture has been toxic to allow those at the top to come out unscathed. They have the board support as they would but until the big investors not small like us insist on change it will continue. If a junior manager had tried to find out the identity of a whistleblower in any organisation they would be gone but for those leading the company they get a fine. I have been an investor with Barclays for 14 years and have watched the changes destroy the SP. Let's hope it can be resolved at is should be a great investment at the right price
I'm just wondering how you stuck it out as employee 13 years because the culture was toxic there.
Yes the chumocracy was quite laughable. Their incompetence was quite staggering too. It turned barc from a highly professional outfit run by gents to one where number were just made up to hit targets.
yep, I was there as a IT contractor from 1992 to 2004, then as a employee from 2006 to 2019. During that period the yanks stunk the place out as from the very top they filled senior positions with their mates from the states. Naming no names but some of them should never be allowed to work in banking ever again
I've been at Barclays too. Were you about the for influx of incompetent yanks that ruined the bank in about the year 2000? They got Barcs fingers in some very dirty pies. From which it's never recovered.
pF at best hanging out with a paedophile is bad judgement, at worst well we all know, horrific. Mr Staley should resign.
as an ex employee and someone who has a vested interest in the bank doing well because the shares I built up , it's depressingly familiar to see the people at the top shooting themselves and the bank in the foot time after time.
Barclays have shown year after year that if there is a scandal to be had they will lead from the front. Former top executive facing criminal charges and now the current CEO having been disgraceful in trying to identify a whistleblower now again involved in a scandal that mean shareholders suffer.
At what stage does common sense not prevail and instutiobal investors insist activists cone in and sort out the company as they cannot. Ashame as I have been waiting for years for Barclays to bounce back but it's always a reputational issue that holds it back and as good a bank it may be there needs to be confidence that those running the bank are fit to run the bank
