Maybe the name is better.
Ye “Darktrace” mhm fits a little with all the problems the major stakeholder and founder in his antitrust lawsuit.
At the end of the day, I like to have the numbers do the talking...
Dark trace is not profitable and it’s revenue is quiet small. The cyber security space is very crowded and therefore I do have my doubts about their growth ability.
Petty though it is, I don't think the name Avast is very marketable, it sounds foreign and boring in comparison to Darktrace which sounds like it is something from 007. Just saying :0)
Dark trace revised their ipo down to 2.4£bil.
For me even that is a little too much. And also high compared to avasts poor valuation.
Cannacord the broker gave 550p recommendation on avast and stated that it would yield a PE ratio of 21x on 2021 results. They stated that although profits margins are very high for avast compared to rest of uk IT, avast only average growth of 6% compared to industry of 10% weighs their valuation down. The uk it industry as average PE ratio of 34x atm while avast is only 18x.
If avast again impresses on q2 on revenue growth we could see a big breakthrough.
What might the effect of the Darktrace IPO be? Might some monies get diverted or shares sold from AVST to fund purchases there or will it lead to renewed interest and an upswing in price?
I think it’s just the fact that overall today the market isn’t too great.
I think there may be uk economic data coming out?
We will see, this should rise in near term.
Bit of an up and a downer so far. I thought 500 was history for a minute there! Hopefully once things settle the 500+ mark will be passed this week.
The earnings just blew the share price out of the water.
I kind of expected good things.
But never thought we would get such high growth figures wow.
Good for avast, good for them.
back to £5 again, nice
Hey,
Yes I saw the legal issues with their shareholder. It sounds to me a bit serious and something to consider. I never think to really invest in smth like that, and there is usually always credit behind those kind of accusations especially when they are so high up. ( just my opinion)
I certainly think it would be foolish to buy into the ipo, it’s over valued and I don’t see anything “special”. The numbers arnt that great to warrant such a valuation. They grew less than 50% last year with a valuation of around £3bil, doesn’t leave wriggle room. Therefore that’s a pretty low P/E ratio based on their, what was it £9mil adjusted profits 2020?
Ye I don’t see it as smth I would go for.
You may as well invest in blue prism or some other silly AIM listed stock valued less, with a higher chance of bouncing.
Hi Ishi. I have been keeping an eye out for the Darktrace IPO. It seems it will mow go ahead having been put back and nearly withdrawn. The valuation will probably put me off and will wait to buy in once floated. Its bound to be volatile. Mike Lynch ex autonomy boss was an easy substantial investor in Darktrace. There is currently a US extradition order for him from the US from where HP allegedly grossly overpaid when they bought his company out. I don't what part all the lawyers and advisors HP played in this, but would have thought the fault or blame lays squarely at their feet id in deed there is a case to be answered. I remember Autonomy was a very volatile stock. Was in it myself. A lot of news again today about Russias "solar spy project' evading American security with relative ease it seems. There will be no shortage of work for cybersecurity in coming years. Darktrace pedigree sounds dramatic 'started by Cambridge mathematicians and ex government security intelligence officers. Gives me the creeps already.
Well if £3bil is the number then avast is undervalued.
Although I suspected that beforehand.
Let’s see q1 earnings.
Uhhh ?
2020 Results were out last month - solid profits - EPS 33p vs 35p in 2019.

Guardian suggests the company turned a loss into a £9m profit in 2020.Little wonder that AVST is strong today!
