Or maybe I do know something about this area!!
There is no reason for them not to have all the S protein variants and be testing away seeing as though its a requirement for the tender I believe.
Ha ha Mumbo
Here we were thinking you were a common or garden deramper but it seems you can use big words.
If only we had a professor of molecular biology with your knowledge.
PS Was it Tom who span you that line?
Dumbo Dumbo keep going the more stupid questions you answer the higher the price goes.
Obviously I am not stupid enough to think that they are linked but you are stupid enough to think they are.
It even covers the Dumbo Dumbo variant.
class Mumbo, almost sounds like someone else wrote that for you.....
Celtics - I take your point on board about south african variant not being readily available. That may well be the case. The bacterial expression you described can be done with synthetic DNA, you can now a create the whole vector with the desired protein sequence, which can then be put in the expression system. Protein is then expressed, extracted and purified. Molecular Biology has moved on leaps and bounds, you no longer have to wait for 'native' DNA to create proteins. As long as you know the sequence (which we do) We can just design and order it now. Have a look at Twist Bioscience and Genescript what they do.
More so, I am perplexed as to why they haven't done that already if what they need is the purified S protein. Just design many different variants since you know the sequence and position of the different variants and then just test away.
This is a good visual representation of the Variants and Mutations. https://twitter.com/DrEricDing/status/1368430097267580930
B.1.1.7 covers many mutations. Mutations are likely to persist. There is likely insufficient clinical samples present in the UK to allow for B.1.351 "South Africa" Variant LFT testing. However, Affimer proteins are fit to deal with evolving mutations. Affimer protein generation employs a bacterial expression system that allows for quick creation of Affimer proteins with engineered Specificity.
I have not checked into the board for some time but I continue to hold and expect to do so for a very long time. The RNS issued on 16th February - "Results of Initial Evaluation of SARS-CoV-2 LFT", was a significant de-risking step.
Thanks,
Celtics.
Everyone go look at Dumbo and his mates on odtt they have made a little space to play share games and competitions
What a plonker ....
I think it’s the derampers den they hide in none are invested but compare notes and playgrounds...., :)
Christ you are still at it Mumbo Jumbo. I am sure AS is far more in the detail and in conversations with the DHSC/Govt/PD about what is of concern and what the test needs to do. Leave the science to the professionals and tbh I would give up this stupid shorting/deramping game too.
The writings on the wall numpty
Looks like your not understanding why Avacta are well placed with Affimers Mumbo Jumbo - We are all relaxed in the knowledge why Avacta are at the heart of the governments Moonshot program. ANY mutation of the virus spike protein can be accomodated QUICKLY and CHEAPLY because Affimers can be developed within 2 weeks to deal with a new mutation. Anyone who has taken the time to research and follow the developments of Avacta is now very relaxed and becoming more excited by the day.
ANY mutation can be dealt with and an Affimer produced and then dropped into the LFT device that has been developed over the last year - this is what has taken the time, getting the right strip for the Affimers and not the actual production of new Affimers.
I am even more relaxed and assured to have the astute and brilliant Professor of Molecular Biophysics Alastair Smith guiding the good ship Avacta. Astute because he realised many years ago the immense potential of Affimers and aquired the IP. Then proceeded to develop the tech and lay the foundations for what we are now seeing blossom, these things take time but are well worth the wait.
Onwards Avacta
Make that run Mumbo because your shorts are on fire.
Dumbo
If you want to invest you still can only £2.13
It will double in a few weeks.
If not jog on you nob.....
Dont worry yourself its adaptable, none of us are worried.
I don’t think you have. The mutation constellation based around E484K are the variants of most concern. It’s given rise to SA and Brazilian variant and it is this that might stop us opening up further. Look at one of conditions Boris has set. If these variants take hold, lockdown easing will be halted.
Any future test must work against this....
FFS.
Have you understood nothing ?
Enough said.
"Now that we have developed a robust lateral flow test architecture, we can easily insert Affimer reagents that that can be very rapidly developed for new variants if necessary, and indeed in response to any other future pandemic virus."
given this section of the RNS id say we are in a great position to be able to cover off any variants that may come to light. This particular trait of the Avacta test gives me great confidence, and im sure it will also for potential customers. Buy and Hold for me.
re short position ,does anyone know if any shorts are in play , i could not find any on morning star
Mumbo....
You are relentless....
Here's what big al kind do with his test.... Brace yourself!

Quick check of your profile just go round deramping other shares....... I had a minutes silence for all the shorters before opening this morning!
This is the key mutation that the virus undertakes to make it more evasive to the immune system. This is one of the key mutation shared between South African and Brazilian variant.
The UK variant has been identified in Wales and London to have independently acquired this mutation and it was for this reason, the Government launched enhanced testing in various parts of the country, when no link to South Africa was found. Whole genome testing had revealed that the UK variant had acquired this mutation. It’s in government report.
“ Detection of E484K mutation in B.1.1.7 VOC 202012/01
The COG-UK dataset (total sequences 214,159) was analysed on 26/01/2021. The spike protein mutation E484K (found in VOC 202012/02 B1.351 and VOC 202101/02 P1) has been detected in 11 B1.1.7 sequences. Preliminary information suggests more than one acquisition event.”

Any new diagnostic tests must be based around this E484K mutation. As the new variants will be new set of constellations based around this mutation.
