I think Fardistanthills has the nub of this. Providing this man can be spared from his scientific bench it is probably easier for him and better for the company for him to change tack inside the organisation that he knows as he is already up to speed. An outsider would need a period of finding his feet no matter how good a supply chain manager he might be. Avoiding that time lag could be critical.
Well I am excited about his 'selective' liking behaviour. Bumping up all the relevant Avacta news articles re: AffiDX
- Distribution Agreement with ABCAM
- Results of Initial Evaluation
- Mologic Partnership
I'm reading way too much into this but regardless, all lights are on green

Abcam and every other collaboration and product I would have thought from the description of the job.
There have been numerous references to the importance of the supply chain to the LFT.
More than happy if you don't see the relevance.
All the best.
To be fair, Avacta have been aligning and changing many processes to follow ISO 13485:2016 QMS for a few years now.
It’s always been the path over the past few years, just covid sped things up quite quickly
Longbull, the thing you raise about a scientist pivoting to supply chain manager caught my eye too, not so much because at first glance it might seem odd, but because I thought it very encouraging - that it was thought necessary such an individual should be selected to make the switch. As a fully qualified chemist before retirement I spent my working life in quality control / process development functions, all of which required a full knowledge of supply chain issues, the complexity of which can be considerable. It requires complete familiarity not just of the usages and supply of physical product, but perhaps more crucially imparting product knowledge.
Jimmy is a great guy.
I feel he was stalled in his last position due to progression being limited for him and his role, so this will be a good move for him if he gets the support and resources needed to keep going.
great find Poirot. It seems the young Dr Nuttall is quite the biochemistry genius, 1st at Huddersfield followed by his doctorate at Sheffield. Sir Al certainly surrounds himself with quality professionals, very reassuring as the momentum builds towards a transformational point in biochemical history and cancer therapy treatment.
Longbull each batch of devices has to conform to the ISO going forward, you don’t get an ISO and it rubber stamps every device made in future. There are many processes to be adhered to for safety and legal reasons. My sister is both scientist first and progressed into manufacturing and quality control , having a science background is most likely an essential criteria. They have a product that is ready to be manufactured. That is obvious from the job post. We have a website that has been testing links to the government web pages and ready to launch its product page any moment. Add more during the dips if you can.
He's been with Avacta for 3 years 8 months in several different rolls and this one was effective April 2021...you don't create a job if the need isn't there...
This is the pulling together job...this is a key roll for product launch/roll out and making sure all supply chain elements meet all requirements including regulatory certification parameters, documentation and markings...
News very close...
Great post - adding to this thread: What do we think about one of his taglines in his bio?
- 'Implementation of processes and manufacturing documents to conform with an ISO 13485:2016 QMS'
How relevant is this re: the news we're waiting for? What to deduce from this?
And adding a critical note for discussion. What do we think about a scientist pivoting towards a supply chain manager? With all due respect it is a different cup of tea and considering the logistical challenges that lie in front of us a supply chain functional expert would be required to navigate through this
GLA
A supply chain is the network of all the individuals, organizations, resources, activities and technology involved in the creation and sale of a product. A supply chain encompasses everything from the delivery of source materials from the supplier to the manufacturer through to its eventual delivery to the end user.
Says it all, really.
Onwards Avacta.
I think you will find Boohoo will be distributing the test
Absolutely. We have heard throughout about the importance of the supply chain. Avacta have been clear on this aspect and have someone in place.
The timing is telling.
Onwards Avacta.
Bump - Poirot proving its quality not quantity on this bb!
Hoping for some more sensible discussions today like this one....
This deserves a bump to the top.
All the best.
Thank you for some useful information. A change from the twaddle littering this board.
Evening All.
Been quiet of late as not much to add really except I'm as confident as ever that Avacta will deliver.
Interesting Job change for one of the scientists in Wetherby.....

James Nuttall
Supply Chain Manager
Responsible for effectively and efficiently coordinating, managing and supporting the supply chain infrastructure that enables the delivery of commercial team forecasts and meets KPI’s and quality standards.
"Supply chain infrastructure"
Remember what Avacta said in the Business update:
"Despite unprecedented pressures on the Diagnostics Division, we now have in place the infrastructure to support the commercial launch of this test. Importantly, we are close to completing the establishment of a complex supply chain for the scalable manufacture of the test kits and we are making timely progress in instituting a quality management system to support the required ISO13485 accreditation for medical devices.
