In your HIV analogy, the LFT is the equivalent of a condom. Would you really do it without one?
EGTP, exactly! There seems to be communal amnesia on this board that the antigen test was hailed as THE way to tell whether the person you were sitting next to was Covid +ve or not. Given the choice between having your loved ones cared for by an untested but double vaccinated person versus one who was negative that day with AffiDX, who would you choose? No brainer.
The best simplest and cheapest way to lower the rising rate of hospitalisations in the Uk, Eu and ROW is to contain or at slow down the spread of the virus.
Anti bodies do not last and Guarantee nothing, so for the foreseeable future no vaccines will ever completely address this, and expensive part cures like the one SNG are developing will never play any major part in containing the current covid strain and future mutations.
I and every well informed person I speak with couldn’t care less about antibodies and whether the person they are sitting next too has a vaccine certificate, they just need to know they won’t catch the virus from them - just like some in the past didn’t want to sleep with someone HIV positive
The covid lft market is still enormous (granted there are many players now), and it would only require a vaccine busting variant to return us back to square one. On the other hand, if the mutations have now reached some kind of evolutionary cul-de-sac, then things will start to return to normal, and in my view fairly rapidly. At such a point Avacta dx can shift their focus to the other tests in their pipeline, such as stress, sepsis etc.
Knotagain I don't think that's true when you say "the only way out of this mess is for quality testing to be used alongside the vaccines."
Its ALL about outcomes. If vaccines stop national health services s being over whelmed and antivirals can maybe stop people being admitted to hospital or reducing their stay upon admittance to levels that are socially acceptable, then testing becomes largely irrelevant.
There is always going to be a demand for testing in some capacity but I think it will be a lot smaller than we expect (even now) and now of course the market is crowded in a way we never envisaged at the beginning.
The way you talk AgentB it's as if there are no Lateral Flow Tests being used, an LFT and a Vaccine are so different, it's ridiculous to suggest that one could be used INSTEAD of the other. Vaccines aren't perfect and neither are LFT's but to suggest there is a conspiracy is crazy. Yes there has been favouritism/corruption by handing contacts to friends and supporters of the Conservative party, but Avacta have been slow getting things out the door as well.
Unfortunately the Government shot their bolt with Innova. To have confidence in another test (AffiDX) it has to have a good track record as level playing field is order of the day. Good sales data for our LFD will be a vote of confidence.
Yes it’s frustrating as to why the market cannot be officially updated to what Medusa and Abingdon are already doing, because any determined columbo could find out this information anyway.
Obviously Medusa are a private company so have no need to say anything to anyone especially while sensitive price wise trade deals are been negotiated, but Abingdon should have a price sensitive reason for all the new recruitments whether they are paying them to work, or to just stand idle ;-)
It's not either or, the only way out of this mess is for quality testing to be used alongside the vaccines.
Enter Avacta.
@Pic How can you tell whether a vaccinated person is nearing the end of their immunity cycle or has just been boosted? How can you tell whether they are actually carrying Covid (because they can, you know)? As Alastair Smith told us from the outset (and we all believed before the brainwashing started) an accurate antigen test measures current infectiousness. As such, evidence of a recent negative test is much more reassuring than evidence of vaccination.
"The news blackout is not due to NDA but to ‘Trusted News Initiative’ which silences any alternative to the jab. I keep telling you all, we will hear plenty from the media when/if LFTs fit the Gov agenda."
You really are down the rabbit hole aren't you AgentB, if you think a cheap diagnostic test is an alternative to a vaccine you really are dumb. Give it a rest mate, almost no one is buying your conspiracy nonsense because it's, well it's nonsense
This is from the Aug LFT RNS update...
'The Company has recently appointed Calibre Scientific, a global distributor of diagnostic and life science products, as the first distributor for the test in the UK and European Union, and is progressing multiple commercial opportunities with distributors and end users in Europe, UK, Asia and elsewhere.'
How does this work with regard to the Medusa19 exclusivity agreement. Calibre is non-exclusive but Medusa have pretty much global exclusivity unless Medusa and Avacta are negotiating deals jointly...house accounts etc
Does anyone know how it works with this lot 1 tender:
https://bidstats.uk/tenders/2021/W15/748945953
If affidx were purchased through medusa19 by a gov department, would this need to be published anywhere, or is it all covered by this overarching lot 1 award and we wouldn't then here about it?
gje306...you missed off supply chain issues. The kits are made up of all sorts of bits and pieces and one missing bit or items not coming through in sufficient volume will have an effect on either manufacturing assembly or finished product packaging.
Mr A ....recent statements from Calibre/BioServe suggest they are vey happy with AffiDX so GAD are not having problems with manufacturing.
The news blackout is not due to NDA but to ‘Trusted News Initiative’ which silences any alternative to the jab. I keep telling you all, we will hear plenty from the media when/if LFTs fit the Gov agenda.
A few possibilities have popped into my mind recently:
1. They can't get the cost of good competitive enough
2. Abbingdon are having difficulties scaling to the levels required for a pandemic and at the same time maintaining product consistency - which would fit with the comment about having to check the batches
3. Still no RNS worthy contracts, even if the product is shipping in smaller batch sizes
4. Everything is hunky-dory, we are selling to the NHS via the microbiology framework and via calibre, but none of it is considered RNS worthy, or Avacta have made the decision not to give a blow by blow account.
5. The next RNS'able news in AS's mind is the HUA approval.
I can't see Affidx being particularly difficult to manufacture relative to any other LFT, there is really nothing special about it.
just like the emirates deal I'll believe it when I see it.
HUA will come eventually and it makes sense Medusa would use their capacity for us.
Has a brand new LFT manufacturing company become more efficient at tech transfer than one of the best in the business? maybe....
Why should any of this be subject to any NDA.
For 18 months now whenever there is no progress and therefore no news, someone always says it’s because of an NDA rather than accepting that nothing significant has happened ??
Timster they are producing and selling to the trade already - we will be updated shortly probably with HUA
Sorry! Could it be possible..
I don’t know either way but would it could the NDA exempt Avacta from updating us?
I know medusa won't but avacta would if they had them as manufacturers
Medusa won't RNS anything or confirm anything. Private firm.
"Medusa-19 finally confirming they have HUA and have indeed been manufacturing and supplying AffiDX to the trade for some time,"
If they were manufacturing it would have been RNS'd so that I believe is not true.
Rest of what you said I agree with
