I run events and a quick immediate answer Covid test would transform my market, bring back confidence to both event attendees and sponsors. A quick test with no need for additional equipment is the key ingredient required to help open up the economy again. It will give confidence to those concerned about catching and or spreading the virus and allow businesses to function.
*would be mega
It would mega if the POC saliva stick eventually had a bar code of some sort which somehow could be scanned to a phone app to prove your results - but that would be me living in dream land. Date, time & result scanned.
Everyone can enter here when they prove they have had a negative result within the last 24 hours before kick off; before departure; before the gig starts etc, etc
First things first - we need the saliva test before we get carried away about opening up the world.
Gaza 13.07
Also it appears that 50% are asymptomatic anyway so temperature checks are quite meaningless.
I need 400 tests which will last me a week
I no a brewery which will need probably 4000 a week for There managed houses
The numbers needed are off the scale
Quick fire tests is the only way
So many businesses still not open
They are waiting for a test
It’s all very easy to understand
So we are all agreed the demand will be off the scale, just need to get a stonking rns out now confirming best in class, get it approved, confirm manufacturers in place, confirm humongous order list, and we are off to the races, simples!
Hang on, which part are you taking back Timster?
There are loads of workplaces/businesses that are unable to open up ATM. The list is massive.
They would all benefit from a very reliable POC saliva test to enable them to open up again.
Cruise ships - on its knees at the moment
Airlines - on its knees also. Wanting to charge £140 for a test prior to departure is a rip off. Our test should be the alternative when it is ready (much cheaper and probably more accurate. Definitely quicker).
Stadia / Venues - sport in general, concert arenas, theatres etc. I'm dying to watch my crappy football team again, Yorkshire CC at Scarborough, Speedway. My meet and greet VIP ticket for a John Lydon talk has been cancelled and I have to wait until next year now. Glastonbury was cancelled this year and the owner said that they would probably go under if it is cancelled next year. The Olympics, Wimbledon, Grand Prix, World Cups of all sports all need paying spectators for money alone.
Cash is king. The above need paying customers now.
At the moment I work for a large government agency and they are working on a 30% occupancy of office space and anyone who can work from home will work from home for the foreseeable.
if they had access to a rapid test no doubt things would be very different and the majority of office based staff could return with a degree of confidence.
So as you say its far from normal at the moment..
Just from a personal point of view.
Would I travel on a plane unless essential? Probably not.
Go shopping for non essential items? Probably not.
Book a restaurant? It can wait.
Go to the cinema or large social events? I don’t think so right now.
Feel totally confident in my workplace? No.
Whilst the global economy opens up things are a long way from normal. It’s going to take something fairly radical & effective for attitudes to change.
Incidentally.
I queued inside a petrol station kiosk area and this lady was talking to the man behind the counter.
Wasn't paying too much attention until she said in conversation that at her workplace they tested all employees once a week.
Wish that I had asked how they were tested. I'm guessing that the boss uses a thermo camera of some sort. I find this method bizzare because we are informed constantly that it takes 2 to 10 days to show any symptoms for Covid 19.
When equipped to do so, all new arrivals should be tested prior to departing. What is the point of testing the UK on mass when you don't properly test new arrivals? The object is defeated.
GLA. This is the quiet before the storm regarding the SP in my opinion only.
Don't just focus on UK contracts / sales. I think that our biggest buyer will be elsewhere (probably the US of A - hopefully).
great post PL75, I take back what I said yesterday ;)
Couldn't agree more PL75.
BUILD IT AND THEY WILL COME....
The reason they want to test on arrival is that it’s a key part of test, track and trace. We have to ignore the shambles so far as the key thing that was missing was test. Posting out swabs or expecting people to travel for miles to test centres was never going to work. Swab samples were taken incorrectly or just not returned, never mind the pre-symptomatic or asymptomatic.
Track wasn’t done either and a lot of the tracers are sat twiddling their thumbs. First things first, mass testing. Expect the govt to be first in the queue with an order for enough to test the whole population (more than once over and plenty stock piled). Once that’s done they’ll finally have a decent clue what’s really going on. ONS have been sampling but it’s been limited to date.
Mass screening enables track and trace and part of that has to be testing arrivals. One test as you arrive, with a couple of follow ups.
Add in businesses, they want to keep factories open and running, customer facing roles want to have confidence. It’s not a stretch to imagine weekly testing and finally a return to genuine normality.
Questioning people’s willingness is a fair challenge, but if the govt pay for them to kick things off, if your business pays for them, if other businesses have signs up saying ‘No spit, no entry’ then attitudes will change as it’s not a huge inconvenience compared with the current situation - the latest being wearing an uncomfortable mask.
Then multiply the world over. Blimey, that’s a lot of tests. At the moment there is nothing that comes close to what this test could be capable of. A simple to use (hopefully very) effective mass screening test. It’s the game changer.
Once the test is here there will be two options
1. Test people
2. Don't test people
60000 new people per day are catching it in the States. In a months time that will translate to 600 deaths per day and significant morbidity amongst survivors. Health resources are already stretched in many locations.
I'm not sure a policy of herd immunity and minimal testing is going to be an option. However, identifying positive cases and isolating them quickly whilst enabling negative cases to be economically active that sounds plausible.
Insert big yellow thinky face
I don’t underestimate the importance of a quick cheap test TO the travel industry but if avct have something suitable for dare I say “global” mass population testing then the travel industry is fairly irrelevant to avct.
I remain fully confident of a very high performing inexpensive, convenient, pocket sized test.
GLA
It will be interesting to learn of the price point for this, to try and gauge the industries this would be applicable too, if it was cheap enough, this could even become the norm for restaurants, bars etc, just needs to be added to the cost of a meal or bar tab, safe in the knowledge you are in a safe environment along with all other customers and staff.
Agree gkb, we haven’t even started a second wave yet, when you look at the countries who were ahead in terms of timing, they are all experiencing, some form of 2nd wave and then factor in the winter with lockdown having been lifted, this will for certain be needed on a huge scale to protect countries who have put in a concerted effort to stop this virus, whilst trying to keep schools, economies, flying, etc all open for business, to try and salvage what we can economy wise.
I believe companies, NGO's, individuals and governments will buy these tests for years going forward. The pandemic hasn't reached peak yet and nobody will forget the impacts quickly in the years to come. Routine Covid testing will become the norm imo.
That is so true the ability to test in your own home and get a result without sending off the test is massive. I know from personal experience key workers having to test themselves and their children with the nasal swabs is and awful experience especially for the children.
I am starting to become more interested in the B2C model that has been set up with Medusa19
Reading a few mining RNS's over the last few weeks, the big concern is shutting down operations and the health of their staff, a simple 15 minute test done once a week would certainly increase the likelihood that operations will not be impacted by coronavirus, or at least highly mitigated
So the B2C model (saliva based) pregnancy style test is what I believe will make then the most revenue, and it now makes sense why they set up this network very early on
Relying on government contracts and spending billions on testing is one thing, but you can be sure that business owners and consumers will be happy to buy a few tests every now and then for peace of mind and to get their workforce operating at 100% capacity or near
in terms of CV19, that's one of the big advantages of #AVCT - NCYT, GDR or any other play (even SONA) doesn't have the ability to sell their products in a supermarket, or sell them direct to your home without the need to send the results back - that's a monumental achievement, and should be worth a pretty penny
Filtered!!
But to be fair you make a valid point. I believe test test test is still required to get back to normality and the evidence is everywhere to see. A 10 min test doesn't exist when it does it makes the testing so much more feasible
ZzTop1,
I completely agree that we should be using these tests EVERYWHERE until we get a vaccine, but the problem will be the attitude of many pople and businesses. Come September, we will have been flying back and forth from at least 70 countries without testing, we will have been at cinemas, beer gardens, barbers, shops without testing. The fear has already diminished and will be almost evaporated by then, so why would people or businesses suddenly decide to start buying tests which will cost them money?
If the UK Gov made it mandatory for businesses to test folk then I believe the demand would still be huge but going the way we are going, I just don't see the same demand as was predicted at the start.
Plenty to look forward to on the pre CISION platform and I still think we will make the £1bn Mcap soon
Understand what you're saying G-Man although still firmly believe that fast, accurate testing is vital for any global return to normality. Face masks in shops, cinemas without that buzz of old, children playing football at 1 metre apart... Every aspect of day to day life is affected. A high quality test is needed now more than ever and will continue to be required even as we learn to adjust to the virus.
I'm quite sure most if not all current holders will assess their investment strategy following the expected news flow over the next few weeks.
for those of us invested here to concentrate on everything other than the Covid antigen tests.
UK has announced 70 countries we can come and go from with no requirement for testing or quarantine. This is a sure sign we are moving to herd immunity now.
Just my opinion, but I find this a kick in the teeth to the NHS and people who have gone out of business or lost their jobs. Covid is still very much here but they've decided its not as harmful as once thought. Public fear has also gone and this is just going to keep the virus festering until we get a vaccine.
Why would airports but tests now if its not mandatory. By the time these tests are out we will have been a few months without them, so I doubt companies will suddenly decide to buy them.
Covid aside, we have plenty to look forward to here and the billion pound Mcap is still on course. Hopefully we make NASDAQ in the coming years also. I'm keeping my position here for sure
