haha I didn't - sounds like you did.......doh!
It was my very first stock purchase also. Then known as Norwich Union. I suppose that makes me a long term holder. ;-)
Once it was my only stock, then it was my largest holding, now it is easily my smallest holding, soon I will be out altogether.
There are some good options out there, paying dividends as well as increasing their share price.
So dont invest here......Doh
This company has never put the interest of shareholders first - never
If that is so then can my investment be protected by the FSCS please? Backdated of course.
@AllatSea I understand your frustrations, but I have to ask, is anyone expecting spectacular growth from aviva? I honestly see them like a utility - a cash cow to provide 5% a year dividend.
Do it wish the share price would quadruple purely because I own them? Of course. But then the dividend would suffer and I’d stop buying.
Am I grateful the share price is low so I can keep buying? Of course!
They’re a value stock - I wish they’d reach the heights of 550p again so I could make a quick profit, but I don’t see that anytime soon.
First step is to make shareholder ROI an overiding factor in determining bonus payments. Make MAXIMUM %age bonus for BOD members equal to shareholder ROI - and dependant upon whether that ROI is better than a benchmark from other major insurance companies. No shareholder ROI over a year then no bonus for BOD members in that year - regardless of anything else.
Thank you Allatsea. Clearly the Shut TFU brigade either have little real skin in the game or are happy being taken for fools by the over paid BOD whose underperformance costs them nothing.
They didn't maintain their dividend. LGEN did and so I have largely jumped ship keeping a small stake in AV.
I am not here to 'keep plodding along'! And I won't 'shut TFU' as Redceo so politely asks. At least not until I can do AVEXIT ;-)
The company keeps making decent returns - I’m happy for them to keep plodding along as long as they maintain their dividend.
Apologies to that element then. On the other hand I do wish they would shut TFU.
Don't spoil it. The glass completely empty brigade on here like a good moan about the SP

Avi. PERFORMING VERY WELL TODAY!
First thing I do in the morning is look at the performance of ftse 100, then Aviva, the Lgen. Almost every day Aviva comes 3rd out of 3. Our new ceo has made many promises but so far we have just kept falling. There that has made me feel better at the start of what I presume will be another very frustrating day. Best not to look at these for 6 months or so.
Good question. How about hiring financial PR firm to drip feed non sensitive business news from the countries currently up for sale. With the premium apparently received for Singapore what about highlighting the real value of the French, Italian and Polish businesses. With AV shares trading at roughly half asset value this might show investors where the shares should be. Only an idea but possibly worth a shot. Also maybe hire a non exec with value improvement experience.
How would you better manage the share price if you were on the BOD?
Another day for L&G up 1.8% while AV down again. What is going on? Might be time to switch.
Yes the market was down today but AV have discovered their own level of management incompetence. News today about more non execs joining with their noses in the trough. At least one old boy insider. How about they hire someone to manage financial PR. L&G down 0.7% AV down 2.7%. They clearly need some more incentive shares.
