I will certainly be reinvesting my dividends as I have done for the last few years.
However this time round I am investing in the hope that some of the cash raised from the recent sell off's will come winging it's way to us share holders!
Patience is a virtue followed by blue skies, onward UPWARDS!
With the 14p divi being paid next week we should see some improvement as it’s reinvested hopefully.
OH well, appears there is nothing that we don't already know coming from the AGM so will have to be patient and twiddle our thumbs for 3 weeks until the trading update 27th May to see what direction we are going. Expect the SP will stay around this level until then. Hopefully sentiment will change with positive news from trading update and get this dinosaur plodding along in the right direction again!
I wouldn't have thought so - any share price sensitive information cannot be given to one group of investors (those at the AGM) before another group of investors (everyone else).
The AGM is scheduled to start at 14:00 this afternoon; will there be any significant announcements from this to get SP on an upward trend again? How long does the AGM usually take to complete; is it likely to be finished by close of markets today?
Although this is more important for current shareholders:

At 550p its still only 10 times future earnings. I think the market is skeptical on future earnings growth. We need more detail where the market lies for Aviva post refocus of the Group's portfolio.
It's a kind of positive negative leaving a market. But Turkey is a bit hot right now so more positive.
Having bought back in, it's a Hold for me with a third of what I used to own.
The well timed announcement today regarding Turkish exit won't do us any harm either.
This appears to be poised for a significant rally. It would not be unreasonable to expect an SP in excess of £5 per share by year end imo.
AV has been badly run for too long. It's too messy to tidy up but the current management has already done well. They sold eight non core business and made £7.5b extra cash so far. I am sure that they will carry on doing the house cleaning and make AV more attractive to both private and institutional investors.
Hi Seen It. I agree but back if timed right are ok, not like Wilson's most recent attempt! Special div's will reduce the share price by the equivalent or thereabouts. Be interesting to see the future plans AB has for growth. Selling business units is the easy things as is cutting staff and buildings.
Hopefully she has a plan to push the share price on. Always thought Aviva were undervalued and just need the right person with some ball5 to manage the current board rather than appease them. Think AB may have their measure. AIMO.
If there is any buy back the shares that are purchased should be cancelled, they should not be held in treasury as future bonus awards to members of BOD.
Well, buy back is another way to increase the EPS. Indirectly will also help to push up the SP. of course if the management can find a way to make AV more profitable then that would be even better. Let's see what will happen Thursday then. GLA
Special dividend like any dividend will usually reduce the share price,at least short term, you are effectively taking cash out of the company. The important thing is the plan to increase profitability after the dividend to cover that cash paid out.
Share buybacks rely on timing, the last one by Wilson was a disaster. AIMO.
Hope that there will be buy back along with special dividend. I am sure that it will help to push the SP up. If not then I am afraid that the SP will continue to drift lower.
AGM on Thursday so hopefully will get confirmation what the strategy is to grow the company and at same time return excess cash to share holders. Good communication should see SP start upwards climb again; no positive information then SP will stagnate around current level. GLA
We need some positive information from AB at the AGM 6th May or trading update 27th May regarding the plan for returning excess cash to share holders to get the SP moving upwards again!
£4 seems to be where its at for over a month.... doesnt look like we'll see any significant movements up in the short term
"and to net her a cool £624k as well!!"
Good luck to her. As long as I also earn a few bob.
"I am sure the CEO wants this to go over £5 to prove her worth."
...and to net her a cool £624k as well!!
The big thing with this share is how will money be reinvested and what will be given back to shareholders. The answer to these two questions will take us over £5. Until then we will keep bobbing up and down.
All I know is that I am here until then as I am sure the CEO wants this to go over £5 to prove her worth.
