Tinker,
I was very tempted to go into Cine with a lump before covid restrictions ended. The reasoning being ( following some experts opinion ) that Cine would be a fantastic recovery share. Nar I thought, my reasoning that plenty on minimum wages with kids would be hooked on Netflix and Disney, or just stopping in with beers post Covid.Big phew on that one.
I decided to top up on my Aviva and Lgen holdings instead.Got it right this time.
Best to all.
Thedetector.
The detector,
I swerved the Cineworld bullet too. Sold my £10,000 holding just before Covid. That £10,000 would now be worth ......£140!
Cevian Capital have not invested here purely for dividends Gary59 but maybe you're better qualified than those highly successful Active Investors!
Could be worse you moaning minnies, could be in Cine. I swerved a bullet there.
Nothing is growing we are in a recession, forget growth on anything until putin gets a bomb in his lunch box...
If you stocked up on this during the pandemic you would have seen massive growth , most wars end at some point so this has as much chance as any to grow..
Posters - This is a dividend paying stock, if you are here for any substantial growth you aint gonna get it, you will get decent dividend payments though but not both. Growth is most definitely not here.
Watch the drop on Nat West, I got court out on the AV consolidation. Sold all my NWG, timing not perfect 16500 shares at 2.54 but feeling safe!
AV will rise, again I sold pre div, bought back on Friday and did slightly better than if had held.
Think this maybe way forward.
Yep-down 7% in one week-joke.
there we go :-) back to normal AViva prices lol
I don't reinvest my divs it's daft to buy then.
best time to buy stock is post ex div day or a week later, it will bounce today then imo drop again, seems the normal dead cat bounce today, be cheaper tomorrow imo than now.
But it will rise just before you want to reinvest the dividend.
never be a fiver imo.
I called a big drop after div day, and here we are with it.
Companies SP never makes big money if they offer big divs 99% of the time.
Posters have been moaning all the way up from the 230s over the last couple of years.
Crikes, stop whinging you lot.Aviva have added around 70p in the last month. They will be a fiver a pop soon if this mob in downing street can get around to accepting proposals from energy companies to a formula for energy price freezes BEFORE October .
Tozzer Sunak refused to talk about the formula for a freeze, he wants pensioners to die and everyone else to be very cold ( except his lot of course}.
Relax put your feet up whingers ,collect the generous divi and sell the lot at a fiver plus , just like i'm goona do.
All the Georgey to all holders.
So great results from a solid company tick, increase in dividends tick, good prospects for growth from this price tick, yet it seems people are selling up and giving up the dividend, I just don't get it myself
Correction: I meant the phenomenal rise last Wednesday not Tuesday.
T
Yes that appears to be the only logical explanation
I’m just assuming that people are taking the profit they’ve made since last Tuesday and are prepared to sacrifice the divi as they expect an equivalent drop on Thursday when it goes xd.
It’s what’s going to happen after Thursday that will be interesting. Continuing uplift based on the good prospects or down to the 390s till the next set of results? We saw quite big variations say between the 458 on 1April and the 382 on 5 July. I’m not brave enough to take advantage of these swings and would be happier with more stability.

Yes SFH doing research and can’t fig it out …bought a chunk yesterday based on div and results wandering what’s caused this ,anyone got ideas ?
... that yesterday and today, just two days before the ex-div date and after great results and excellent yield, this share is sliding backwards again.
