I understand why Market dealer et al are still trying to keep the Titanic afloat - they need to get out
"Most companies are private before they go public. It's ridiculous to say 10% of JHI will be worthless. After all JHI's existing large shareholders will one day, in the not-too-distant future wish to monetise their investment."
You missed out the fact they are a CANADIAN company - not a UK one. The paper you'll get will be in a private Canadian outfit - good luck to trying to sell that to anyone.
And ask anyone even in the UK if the small LTH's benefited when a company went from private to public. You're locked in for good and no-one listens to you.
Best thing to do is ask for JHI certificated shares, put them in an envelope, give them to your grandchildren as birthday presents to open in 2030.
They will either become wealthy or suddenly realise that Grandpa was a joker after all.
But, why Misrol is still holding the shares ?
Mirasol

Yes, it won't be possible to sell immediately but to say the JHI shares will be worthless is plain wrong.

Mi,
Have you sold your holding Arg yet ?
If not, how many shares are you holding (if you don't mind me asking ) ?
Once you have answered, I will tell the rest. Thanks
"Please stop spouting lies and nonsense."
OK MD - tell me just how you'll sell JHI stock when you get it................
"Why would RKH bid for ARG? Its never gonna happen , RKH have their oil field."
Because they might want to tie up ALL the N Falkland's Basin Acreage - then they have a stream of possible future developments - just look at EXXON off Guyana - first discovery announced 2015 - now over 20 discoveries. Just like Angola in the '90's
Can't imagine FIG being happy bu t they might have to agree to ensure continued exploration and development
Why would RKH bid for ARG? Its never gonna happen , RKH have their oil field.
Mir,
Please stop spouting lies and nonsense.
Everyone here knows the history and the current deal. Why don't sell and move on ??
The sp might hit the lowest price ever been.
Will be adding more, but not yet.
Have a pretty idea what's going to happen in the next 2 years unless Arg is taken out within the next 50 days.
Nothing without risk, RNSs are the best guide.
HI - I have been trapped in a similar situation before - I have shares in a couple of N American outfits but they are worthless to all effect as there is no way of trading them. Even if I lived in the USA it the costs of selling would outweigh any return.
It would be good if RKH did buy ARG out as at least we'd have something to trade - but they aren't awash with cash right now
Mirasol is entitled to express his opinion and has said nothing offensive. There's nothing worse than a BB that is an echo chamber for people patting one another on the back.
I'm waiting for the RKH bid...
All IMHO DYOR

"Says our new deramper Mirasol "
and neither have you Adrian - you stalking me again?
IMHO DYOR
This is the big question - if you hold JHI stock how can you sell it?
It won't be quoted so there is no market, no market maker and no hope of finding a buyer for the tiny percentage of the company you'll hold as an individual
The only thing is it may, just may, come good in a few years and they float
" Exxon Mobil has applied for an environmental permit to drill up to 12 further exploration wells on the Canje Block offshore Guyana during 2023-2024, according to Eco (Atlantic) Oil and Gas."
I'll believe 12 wells when I see it................
Market cap is under £3m. Would be amazed if RKH and/or Navitas showed no interest.
All IMHO DYOR

Had a Buy order in at 1P but changed it to 0.75P cos I think that's where we are heading!!
Mirasol
ExxonMobil are planning a 12-well campaign in the block starting 2023. They haven't given up.

They certainly think there's oil there and their record is exceptional as you note.

"If that's the case, Why are you here then"
I've been in AGR for years - I hoped they'd drill after Sea Lion was discovered. I wrote off the investment years ago but its was never worth selling the shares at the SP prevailing. It's like owning a lottery ticket or a premium Bond now - its worthless but there is a very very small chance it might hit the jackpot.
RKH is slightly different - they have a large asset but can't monetise it - I've been in and out several times - right now I'm out but will probably go back in when the FDP fro Sea Lion is announced
"I also think RKH (which I own) and/or Navitas could make a all-paper counter offer."
I'm sure ARG have been talking to both for years - but no sign of any serious interest. And FIG will probably want to keep some degree of competition in the N Falkland's Basin.
Mir,
If that's the case, Why are you here then
Spouting doom ?
"However, if Exxon strikes oil in Canje,"
problem is they've drilled two wells already and not found anything whereas they can't miss in the next block . That suggests the geology is different - so they won't be going back soon to drill a third well IMHO.
And have you ever tried selling stock in a private Company? and one in a different country?? Its damn near impossible
