Xenor exactly. People generally understand FOMO buying (leading to overbought territory) but they don't grasp the opposite. Sometimes it takes only a small catalyst for a 1% decline to turn into a 10% fall.
1. Pump and Dump
Pump and dump is a manipulation technique that is used frequently in order to inflate the price of security artificially. The manipulator then sells out, and followers are left with an overvalued security. This works on stocks with micro-market capitalization.
2. Poop and Scoop
The poop and scoop technique is not as frequently used as the pump and dump. Here, the price of the stock of a medium or large-cap company is artificially deflated. Once it happens, the manipulator buys the undervalued shares, thus making a profit.
Poop and scoop is rarer because it is significantly tougher to artificially affect the prices of a good company.
@HarChris, I have been listening. Just like many others, I'm trying to understand the reasoning behind the share price movements. The 4 million sell could explain a lot. That's a big order to fill. Add in retail investors panic selling and that's even more to fill.
I believe once the share price starts moving upwards FOMO will kick in and people who sold will be back. Could be another red day tomorrow though. ARBKF closed at the equivalent of 201p.
Amanensia ,
I’m not one for conspiracy theories when it comes to the likes of the Market Makers but I do believe posters on here are paid for messages, Far to many posters are like flys round the proverbial when there’s a sudden jump or dive in price - there’s no way they are involved in all those shares and they normally turn up like clockwork in 2s or 3s - There’s also a certain few that specifically ramp certain MDs shares one that’s well known for pump and dumps on Aim shares.
There’s a few that post here I’d have my doubts about.
Tin foil hat fully in ;)
Thanks for the explanation, I really should have a proper read up on it as sounds an interesting if not slightly devious way of manipulating the markets. Haha there’s every chance Btc will do your bidding and burn them all ;)
I'm not sure that any of the thoughts that have been posted are completely convincing. One of them might be right, or a combination of two or more, or it might be something else entirely. Just because Xenor doesn't necessarily agree with you doesn't mean he's not listening :)
Pedro - do you really believe there are paid de-rampers? That seems so outlandishly unlikely I'm tempted to suggest you buy a tin foil hat. Just because someone is bearish doesn't mean they're being paid to express that opinion.
We could really do with bitcoin going ballistic this week though!
There are no hedge funds with a declared short position over 0.5% but I think someone earlier posted short data which showed significant recent shorting. These shorters whether individuals or organisations will close as soon as either a) they think all the sellers are flushed out or b) the bitcoin price makes it impossible to hold down any longer.
Just a theory but it's often the reason a share is underperforming in the very short term.
HarChris,
The shorters line is a very interesting topic, Is there anyway you can tell if your share has been shorted in such a way ?
The derampers are professional, they are here to make you feel nervous and question your strategy, thats the problem with free bulletin boards.
BUY LONG STAY HAPPY
Xenor, plenty of us have given our thoughts on why this has fallen today, you just aren't listening.
My opinion is that the opportunity for a coordinated short attack presented itself. After such a dramatic rise and with a major shareholder selling down it was a good opportunity to go at a stock that is largely owned by PIs sitting on a significant profit. A falling share price will always spook PIs sitting on profits and slowly more and more will panic and sell.
As I said before, I think we've been extremely lucky that bitcoin has performed so strongly or the share price might have collapsed in on itself as more and more begun questioning if there's something 'suspicious' going on. We are at least fortunate to have a CEO who is willing to subtly alleviate those fears with his 'tranquillo' tweet.
Xenor,
Think
I’d have been even more worried if that 4m was a buy and the Sp was this low !, Let’s hope whoever it is as finally run dry - I guess we won’t know that till tomorrow.
I do agree we need more positivity on this board but it's important to talk about why the share price is falling because today was unusual and isn't something anyone expected. Today had me thinking the stock might still be overbought from its surges earlier in the year but the discussions around the 4 million seller, institutions selling some of their stock and shorts increasing has reassured me a bit that this is only temporary and isn't because the share price is correcting from its surges earlier in the year.
Amanensia,
Very good points. I've often wondered why rampers or derampers think they will make a blind bit of difference.
I only read these boards to pick up some actual facts, of which you have provided plenty, or to try to fend off some of the cretins, be they negative or positive.
Whether or not it makes a difference to sentiment and SP - who knows. It’s just tediously transparent and irritating.
Nah. Fortunately, the proportion of shareholders who even bother to read forums like this is fairly small. And the proportion who let other posters make their decisions for them is smaller still (because those that do tend to get burned rapidly and go back to premium bonds.)
If you’ve got to go then go. Just don’t see the point in trying to get others to follow you. Unless...
Don't you think encouraging people to sell will make the price fall too? The amount of times I've heard people telling others to sell and move on here this week is crazy.
They mainly come out at night, mainly.
If you think a stock is overbought, or has hidden problems then I have a solution; sell it and move on.
Why try and talk it down in a manner that may encourage those of weak hands to sell ?
Please go forth !
