great post - i missed this during the week. Answers my question about comparison of SC200 with s19 ... ie they are different miners and can be compared - thanks @ArgoBull
I am always impressed by Peter and the Team.
It’s the best journey I have ever been on.
Not in the slightest but bothered by this dip.
Outstanding Share to be involved in and they are diversifying into the DEFI space with Pluto.
It's a class move by Argo, busy BOD.
Don't worry Rookie, the essence of your post was correct and it was nice to have an on-topic post for a change :)
I just had to correct it as it's important we all get the true picture - which is pretty brilliant let's be honest.
Hi Matt, your right, crap post from me as the comparison is wrong. Ignore the numbers then. The RNS is still good news, as we are aligned closely with Epic to provide new machines, spec of which are TBC. Epic have an impressive track record working with some very big companies. I also noticed that Epic have some sort of affiliation with Luxor technologies who Argo invested in recently. So we are building up a formidable network.
The numbers are all wrong Rookie - you cannot compare the machines as mentioned by another poster as different hashing algorithm. Even if you assume the algorithm is comparable - the SC200 is 2.2TH, while the S19 is 110TH - so the S19 is 50x more powerful.
This deal is still very positive for Argo and shows prudent LT planning. BTC is here to stay, and this deal will in time give Argo access to purpose built and secure supply of mining ASICs - which is in very high demand atm.
I tried a couple of times on the dip with hl and never any luck.now left a buy limit see if that works.gla
Struggling to buy the dip. HL good, iWeb no go.
Just want to correct a couple of things there. The S19 pro has 110 Th.
The SC200 machine ePIC has on their site is a different mining algorithm for a different coin (not Bitcoin).
We can't yet see what their Bitcoin miner is and will do, but they will work with Argo for R&D purposes. It will be a different machine, not the SC200. I'm sure it will be amazing though as we wouldn't be making this deal if it didn't have legs.
Great RNS today.
Rookie, please don't be offended, but I don't like that thread title. That phrase always sounds like a bad thing .
I think most of us agree with you though. This is a great deal and shows, yet again, the forward thinking of Argo. Sounds like in addition to the new machines, this collaboration will lead to Argo and Epic working on other developments, possibly beyond simple BTC mining and extending into the whole blockchain space.
Nice post Rookie, amazing power vs efficiency, that means we're getter 12000+ Bitman equivalents! ;) That should be the benchmark metric, like BTC equivalent in the monthly update.
I'm not sure many have picked up on the detail of today's RNS:
1) We need machines for West Texas next year and to improve / replace older machines in Canadian data centres
2) Bitmain are the main supplier in the industry but have a typical 9 month waiting list
3) The S19 pro from Bitmain offers 1.1 TH for 3250 watts of electricity (remember those numbers)
4) Epic Blockchain also manufacture mining machines, Canadian firm with production in China, smaller than Bitmain in capacity
5) Epic are selling the SC200. The advertised spec is that is offers 2.2 TH for 1300 watts in electricity
6) So on paper the SC200 is twice as powerful as the Bitmain S19 and cheaper to run!
7) Epic don't have the manufacturing capability of Bitmain to produce as many miners, yet
8) Today's deal announced we have committed to $8m of miners from Epic. We are now their lead customer.
9) They sell SC200 for $1,450.00. With economies of scale it looks like we have bought an around 6000 rigs from them
10) Those machines will be delivered from October this year onwards and built specifically for our ARGO specs
11) We have first right of refusal to purchase more machines from them
12) Epic will also have some space at one of our facilities to test future machines
By aligning ourselves with Epic we get in early, are their most important customer, and the SC200 spec is twice as good as the S19 from Bitmain and cheaper to run! Very good announcement and should install confidence that the company is well placed on the future expansion plans.
