I use freetrade at premium 9.99 a month. Apart from slow pricing it is fine. Isa is free on the premium piece. Tried to set up 212 but they have a ‘waiting list’ FT is fca compliant so first £75k I think covered I case there are issues. Easy to use and premium has limit buy/ sell options- not convinced by them as failed to pick up shares on ARB when set at buy and sell but that may be order books rather than the app!?
The only fees are for FX fees. Outside that the ISA is £3 a month. You may need Plus for some stocks which is £10 but they pay 3% interest on any cash up to £4k which basically covers the difference.
Everything is executed instantly.
I use investing.com for live pricing to then buy through freetrade.
FreeTrade FX fee is .45% for buys & sells of US stocks not 1%
With the ISA is it just £3 a month and that’s it or is there hidden fees too
I miss the Sharecentre app it was great to use but they got bought by ii and theirs is too cluttered.
Trading212 seems to have access to more obscure US stocks and a more complex interface
Sometimes on free trade u will search for a stock you want and wont be able to find it but they are always adding new ones seemingly every week
All major and popular stocks are there and i wouldnt own Argo without a big "latest stocks added - ARGO BLOCK CHAIN" on the front page haha
Thats probably my highest recommendation i can give it
Exactly it’s an awful platform for US stocks so trying to determent the best UK app for them
HL are pish poor for trading US ... 1% FX fee on each side of the trade for a start.
Im a sucker for a nice good looking interface and thats what free trade seems to have. Plus the low fees. I kind of wish their was a UK Robinhood. What are the fees like on US stocks? thats the main reason im thinking of transferring really
Yes can do an ISA on free trade i have just read
I use free trade for some stuff
It has its pros and cons
Good range of stocks and simple accessible layout
Very good platform to get started on especially if you are looking for more small long term investment
Wouldnt recommend for fast day trading as the prices dont always update quickly however very cheap buying shares and sometimes a small stamp duty or exchange rate always worked out as a tiny percentage of your purchase size
I get the impression they are always trying to improve the platform and they noticeably distanced themselves from their american broker during the AMC/GME situation a few weeks back where people werent able to trade their shares for a small amount of time so they seem like "good guys"
I wouldnt go all in on but definitely give it a try if you're looking to dip your toe in investment, especially if you're newer
Decent flexible platform
Thanks thats good to know about the prices, does the trade still execute instantly or is there delays on the trade too?
Does Freetrade allow you to trade your shares in an ISA or SIPP?
I use Freetrade and it's been perfectly fine. Only thing to watch out for are the fact their prices are 15 mins delayed so use other sources to get that information. Saved me a small fortune.
Remember it’s sometimes better to pay a premium to get a better service and be able to buy and sell without problems. I use HL and not had an issue yet.
sorry off topic
Does anyone use free trade and has any reviews would be appreciated
currently use HL but has large fees especially on US stocks
