Except generally they can't afford to mothball they have to keep going to pay the bills.. the equipment will go out of date.. they will need to buy more all the time as the algo gets more complex its more like the mine collapses and the staff still need paying with listing fees etc etc etc oops
Hey what am I saying buy buy buy 1 million next week, secure fundamentals, deranpers don't get crypto, they are just jealous, discount!! , top up value, store of wealth, rare.. any other ramp I missed?
Poor investor you say BTC cant fall to $10k or below. I dont think it will, but its no different to gold/other miners that the cost of extraction exceeds the value of product. They mothball the mine until it becomes economical to mine again. Im definitely looking at sub $20k BTC at some point in waht now looks like the not too distent future.
Spot on Adele. Really appreciate your posts and Cathy Wood agrees with you. She talks recession and deflation being good for innovation as companies strive to get the edge. Personally I foolishly derisked at 60p on the way up.. still one of my best investments over a few years. GLA.

"Nah, doubt you Buy size under 80 pence, they have a nice wise “touch’ on the spread, no cheap stock here, when crypto moves up, it moves arb fast"

Nah, doubt you Buy size under 80 pence, they have a nice wise “touch’ on the spread, no cheap stock here, when crypto moves up, it moves arb fast

looks like only 1 question left short term is it going to be 50% or 80% BTC retrace.
My own ARB investment is about 50% down.
That's just the volatility of BTC/miners.
It's not a surprise.
If you're surprised, then maybe BTC isn't for you....
Chae-nob-ol fallout,
I see you've reappeared to try and gloat.
How are all your MARA shares faring?
DOH
FYI. there's nothing different to investing & trading...
I've had £150k invested here at times.
I scaled down from crypto several months ago and now have only about £30k invested. If I lose it all, I'll still be ahead, so I'm not overly concerned. I think ARB will eventually bounce back and I'll hold for however long it takes; years if necessary.
If people choose to invest 100% of their accounts in 1 or 2 stocks, then that's nothing to do with ARB. It's just their own recklessness and they need to go and read up on risk-management before spending any more money.
Good luck.

We have had dialog before.
Thing is you are a trader with knowledge it would appear.
Lots of people in here put a decent amount of cash in and now worried.
Me…. Personally can afford to wait but but we are not all the same.
You talk the talk and I get that but …. Spare a thought for those who take a punt with money that’s really not spare
And ….. please don’t say they shouldn’t play big peoples games ??
@poorinvestor: "Also, Canetoad, when does a gold or copper miner, hodl it's produce?"
To my knowledge - never.
In my opinion, miners HODL'ing the bitcoin is a flawed business model. You're stuffed if you've collateralised loans against your HODL, as you'll need to raise increasing amounts of capital until you become insolvent; it scales as 1/x.
Anyway - I don't care. I'm not an idealist. I just trade the thing.
I have no plans to sell my ARB, RIOT, BTC or ETH.
I think it's going to eventually bounce back; I'm in no hurry.
@IK "Title of this thread is follow the money.. the money is selling.. so you advise to sell?"
I'm guessing that was tongue in cheek but if not, you know I don't advise either way... as for the thread title and my original comment, I was talking current economic data (real, not market moves) vs policy responses - in this case, to a trend that no longer applies.
Narratives matter, because they affect markets. But a narrative is not necessarily reflective of actual data. The narrative today is inflation-inflation-inflation plus QT, rate hikes, etc. I see disinflation now (food and energy prices will take longer to come down because they're essentials), then deflation - good for tech and BTC - and a lot of catching up by people behind the curve. The problem is when share (or coin) prices go down, prices go down and, at that moment, no-one cares about anything except the red in their portfolio and those pesky minus signs.
@HGN I like that reply. You make a lot of excellent points.
However, I don’t think the real economy data is good - I never said that. I think we have a K-shaped economy in progress, and the bottom stem is longer than the top.
Re impact on markets, I see disinflation, which *should* make tapering / rate hikes less likely (or less of…), which would be good for high growth tech and BTC. The issue is whether that is being acknowledged by this increasingly and unnecessarily hawkish-sounding Fed. Are they behind the curve again? I hope not, but it’s possible. But again it’s all priced in unless a real shock of an announcement is delivered next week. This looks more like ii games to me, with some de-frothing added to the mix.
I think we’ll know all we need to know by next Friday morning..
