I'll wait for the bounce before getting back in. This has fallen beyond all reasoning, there is no telling where the bottom is. Even if I do miss out on a bit of a rise, better than loosing 5 to 10% every day.
Hi Misterbeck. I've read the LTH's posts (I've only been invested since February). These big drops are not unusual for ARB and other miners. It's the volatility of the sector. We all knew what we were getting into. The point is that although miners take an absolute caning but the bounce back has always exceeded the previous highs. The real danger is crystalising the loss or missing the bounce.
Which brings me on to being in total agreement with TheProfit. Nothing has changed. Just sentiment, profit taking, and shorting. The business is still as sound today as it was when the shares peaked at over £3.00. My only frustration is that had I timed this better I'd have been holding over 100k shares now for the same size investment that it took to buy 60k shares.
I don't understand, how does one go short if you don't know the real value of the company, surely thats just blind gambling!!
I've lost about £65k this week on paper, even despite desperately buying more and more, but it doesn't change the value of the business, which is so easy to calculate.
Earnings x pe ratio / shares outstanding = price per share
£66m x 20 / 381m = £3.50
And thats with no value added for Pluto, Texas expansion, HODL.
Its just basics figures!! And using a very low x20 for pe ratio for high tech sector
"Let's face it, selling at a loss now, and then watching it recover would be absolutely horrendous."
Not sure this is a very logical approach.
You have options.
1. You can sell at a loss now and could possibly watch it fall lower and buy back in
2. You don't have to just sit back and watch it recover and do nothing about it.
You can buy back in. It doesn't look like the SP is going to spike up anytime soon with the way that sentiment is, so you would have plenty of time to get back in.
There is nothing wrong with damage limitation.
Think his shift finished at 5pm RC
Thanks Shares121.
It hasn't been pleasant for anyone who has a substantial holding.
A nice bottle of red will do the trick. Have a great weekend and 'cheers' to a better week. :)
He hasn't got a calculation best ignored and filtered talks utter sh@te!
still waiting on those 50p calcs whatamess? or do you not know how to value a company?
Barney R
Nice post and I feel your pain I’m not at a loss as I’m LTH but watched my profits erode to the tune of around £50k.
Once the sand settles we will have a new base for the next leg! Chin up couple of extra drinks this weekend
Thanks yemah. I appreciate your kind words.
And yes, people's posts can be pretty heartless sometimes, but most of the time they mean no harm. They are fortunately in a position to top up at a bargain price and are just being bullish. Good luck to them. :)
BarneyR- I salute and appreciate your Frank honesty and I am sure that with each update of "Good not to top up or Bargain Price" by folks here would have been like been cut a thousand times. One this though, not everyone is topping UP and some have even sold and still keep stating stupid 0.1p entry points. My point being, each man/woman to thselves, there is hope that this would blow over soon.
MOST IMPORTANTLY --->>>Please your loss position is not a loss until you have sold.
Next week will be Better!!!
I’ve been able to average up at what I’m still thinking is a great price for where this is going.
Hopefully it’s also cleared out all of the PI’s that keep harping on about NASDAQ. It will be when it will be. So tiresome.
Wow. This was not a pleasant week!
I feel like many of you rather shell shocked. Having promised myself that I wouldn't check my 'paper' loss, my curiosity got the better of me!! So if it helps anyone here feel a bit better, I am down £35k on a 60k shareholding and am no longer in a position to average down. I'm all in!!
Each time I've been tempted to sell and take the hit, I have stopped myself knowing that at some point the share price will be higher than it closed today. It could be days, weeks, months but it WILL happen. Let's face it, selling at a loss now, and then watching it recover would be absolutely horrendous.
