Could'nt agree more. One of the very few shining lights on AIM and boy does AIM need one!
Good figures. Over £5 million in cash, no debt, opening new markets in Asia. I really like this company. They have made some good decisions in the past - eg buying the freehold of their HQ at the bottom of the property market a couple of years ago, very shrewd. Wish more companies were run like this. As with all small companies there are risks but well done staff and management at ANP.
Interim results due 19th Sept. - Thursday. I assume this tick up is in anticipation of a good set of figures. Mind you, someone sold 60,000 shares on Friday which is a big chunk for ANP so not everyone is convinced.
Any one know when the half yearly report is due?
Around £100k sold about 22 Feb. this must be corporate selling. I can rarely sell more than about £2000 because of illiquidity. Given the most recent fall in SP some information would be welcome.
Anpario expects to report a successful year with earnings and profits after tax in line with market forecasts, the animal feed company announced Friday. The supplier of natural feed additives in agriculture and aquaculture said results over the past nine months were driven by newly acquired Meriden Animal Health which is performing in line with expectations. Meriden was snapped up for about £4.0m in March. "[This year] has started well and the group continues to target organic growth and strategic investment activity in key export markets," the company said. The company remains debt free with cash balances of £3.7m at the year-end. Financial results for the year to December 31st will be announced in April.
Amazing to see the confidence generated by a couple of directors buying only 40,000 shares between them. A news update at this time would be welcome!
Anpario (ANP) Director name: Ms Karen Prior Amount purchased: 20,000 @ 106.50p Value: £21,300
I tend to agree. I found it a little difficult to offload some recently ( I had promised myself previously that I must take a little profit when they get above 5p old money again, and not done it on previous ocaissions not there were many!) just before I went off on a trip. I think the problem is one of liquidity still. Institutions must hold around 80% between them, therefore releasing treasurer shares should make them a little more tradeable in even fairly modest amounts.
Regarding the sale of treasury shares earlier in the month in order to satisfy market demand, I cannot see much evidence of the market demand in the Trades over the last few weeks. If there is pent up institutional demand they are clearly not interested in an ask price higher than £1.10. I would not be surprised if we were to retrace further before serious interest is generated. Also, are there enough shares in the issue to go round? Should we expect some dilution?
I really thought we were heading for new ground. Not much wrong with the company, just general sentiment at the moment I feel.
wondered wher the momentum was coming fro on such low volume. Half yearly report isthe probable answer: Key points: Financial 25% increase in adjusted EBITDA1 to £1.35m (2011: £1.08m) 20% increase in underlying earnings per share to 5.25 pence per share (2011: 4.36 pence per share)2 16% increase in sales revenue to £10.82m (2011: £9.36m) 24% increase in gross profit to £3.57m (2011: £2.88m) Cash balance of £2.83m at 30 June 2012.
I certainly am still invested. After the long wait for the market to take note of ANP this is not the time to stand aside. I may be wrong but I believe the sp will continue its upward rise climbing steadily towards target if not beyond. After a long period of stagnation investors are beginning to waken up to realise the true potential in this little gem. With so few shares in circulation - most are held by the big boys and are not available for daily trading - I can see that if serious interest is shown this could quickly reach that target. I am not looking for a spike and would rather we had a continuation of the controlled, steady rise we have seen in the last month or so. GL as always to all in here and welcome to you if you are a new ANP investor.
I think we can consider this break out! and the highest sp post consolidation. Are we all still here? I aint goin nowhere.
Seems to be that this is one of those rarer incidents where the consolidation has actually helped in stabalising the sp a little and raising the profile. Not so sure the likes of John Lee would have been as interested preconsolidation. In old money we might not be so happy as this is still only around 4.5p and the when it was actually at that price it is unrecognisable to the company today. There was a smallish placing at 3.5p to help fund the acquisition of Optivite in 2009, but that aside a rerating cant be too far off. It was always suggested the company was worth 6p in those days, which I think it briefly hit for a day or so. That would put todays sp at £1.38. I would hope it gets there this year and with a change in sentiment quite a bit further than that if things continue as they have been. The house broker set quite a realistic target of 1.4 but that could well be upgraded too. Ramp over! I tell it how it is. It is odd how we have completely disappeared off topic over on iii. Hope they did'nt all sell out. GL Anpers
Yes its looking good. ANP sp broke above its recent trading range only he other day and it is certainly holding its own. This might well mean we are in for a re-rating which will better reflect the current value of the stock. No signs of the nose dive back down into old territory which so often happens in the first day or so. A further rise looks likely now and the fundamentals are strong. That's why I remain invested here. Eventually the mix of capital growth and regular dividends combined with the potential for stronger future expansion will come good. Operating in the growth regions of the world this stock is well placed to ride the storm of negativity holding back the West. I do not expect fast, overnight investment retruns from ANP. Just steady, regular upward movement in the sp reflecting its improving finacial status and value.
mms testing the water or an order to fill. If these volumes keep coming they will be short of shares soon, like now?
rns 3rd sept made two purchases increasing their holding over 6%. We now have 9 institutional holders over 3%. Save some for us!
Well, I set a cheeky limit for first thing this morning but it didn't kick in. Didn't lose anything. The spread was far larger than I wanted it to be and I didn't expect the sp to jump by anywhere near what it did, thought it much more likely it would be around 2p. Additionally I have enough invested in the market without investing more, so was happy to sit out if that happened. Good luck to those invested here. Incidentally, let us not get carried away. My shares in GBG got hit again today for no apparant reason; it is a very strong company with superb fundamentals, I think the recent rise previously was just too much and there has been a predictable retracement. It could happen with ANP too after such a rise; but it will recover if the fundamentals are strong, bar general market malaise. The amazing power of journalism - absolutely oogleflugal. CRG (Corin Group) down today after David Schwartz negative comments in same issue of the FT over the weekend (expected it to be far more). Regards CM
Some hefty buys today which presumably are motivated by the well respected views of Mr Lee, who clearly has the nose for where the money is or will be. He did'nt get to be the first person to have million quid in his isa by luck alone. I would'nt be expecting this to fly either, but it is clearly still undervalued on fundamentals, but on prospects its ridiculously cheap. It has taken its time. They did have a few difficulties way back. The flooding when they had a warehouse by the thames. Has undergone something of a transformation since then. More inhouse production with larger capacity, new premisis. recent acquisition into a smaller profit making company opertational in China and divestment of sports fishing company. The sp has still not done much to recognise this transformation, and maybe the figures still dont excite. However in the current world economy I think their performance is exceptional and when sentiment and prospects start to really show I would expect this to seriously take off. I would say that having been in for six years with a fairly small but steady return. I cant think of many stock that have actually performed this well over that period without heavy trading. have been happy and intrigued to sit on this topping up occaionally.
Been invested here for a while and things are certainly starting to tick up. As the previous post confirms - the fundamentals are positive - and this is reinforced by a good long term track record. I also notice the Zulu Principle mentioned and if this meets its strict selection criteria all the better. for me. A very good read and albeit somewhat dated the investment principles remain sound.
Interesting article in the F.T. I read J.L column from time to time and check out his investments. Unlike David Schwartz he appears to invest for the longer term. I like the way he will visit the companies and speak to the directors. I have done some in depth research covering many companies using strict criteria. ANP came up as a company worthy of further research. The article in the F.T renewed my interest. The fundamentals look very strong which is key at this particular moment in time. The fact ANP pays a dividend which is well covered is welcome too. I am not sure if I should commit more funds to invest in another company right now, I think I need to look further into it. The strict criteria I have set have thrown up GBG, TRCS, RPC and recently AIE, which I have invested in and have proved positive despite market turbulence. I think we could be in for further turbulence in the near future. However, ANP would give me a more varied portfolio. ANP is hardly an exciting company to invest in, not your oil and mining companies, but I am happy about that. There is a book by Jim Slater called "The Zulu Prinicple - making extraordinary profits from ordinary shares" - a very good read and still very relevant despite being written before the internet. Jim Slater identifies what to look for before deciding to invest in any company, the strict criteria I look for. The fact that this bb is relatively quiet is another positive; free from rampers and derampers. Yes; I will have to sleep on this one; maybe set a limit to buy in. I'm not expecting this share to fly, it doesn't need to, I would be happy with a slow burner. It may rise tomorrow after the exposure in the F.T. Good luck. Regards CM
Anpario truly has a champion presently in the form of John Lee, (Lord Lee of Trafford, former MP and currently Co-Chair of the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Party Committee on Internaitonal Affairs, Ministry of Defence) His column in this weekend's FT is almost entirely devoted to Anpario. He highlights Anpario's particularly strong trading performance in countries such as Argentina, Bangladesh, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, and Turkey. He also points out that Anpario's recent acquisition, Meridian, supplies 16 of the top 20 feed mills there. "Fundamental drivers should benefit Anpario; a growing world population, plus legislation working in favour of natural additives and away from antibiotic growth promoters." He also notes the many small companies successful in niche additives which could provide acquisition opportunities, as well as reminding us that Anpario itself could become a takeover targetfor a hungry global player. He has recently added to his shareholding. When he last bought in January the SP was only 82p and is now trading around the £1 mark. I am rather rueing taking some profit in recent weeks, as I anticipate that the price could well rise further in the weeks leading up to the announcement of the interim results on September 19th.
Great post. No big promises but underlining the fundamentals, with increased capacity production potential at no real cost now to take care of future growth. USA sounds exciting too. Might not be the usual billion dollar biotech bubble and burst company, but slow and steady will do me in this market.
