Your Metro is better Mouse and I'm going to Newcastle on Tyne on Monday
Well, our Metro is better than the tube. In the London Underground it's hot and it stinks really badly :-)
Mousekewitz I never used them since the 80s, then got a job on the quayside a couple of years ago and whilst thinking about getting a second car as my wife has ours through the week, I used the metro for work for what I thought would be a few weeks.
I realised if I timed it right I could get home in twenty minutes and started to like it. I used to work for Sage and I had spent 20 years driving 2 hours a day. Been working from home this last year
Fantastic, I haven't used the Metro in years. Some people with rucksacks freak me out :-)
Mousekewitz you're two or three metro stops from me
Seemed like a good idea when I was full of beer but now not so sure, it comes two months after my 60th birthday. This will be the one and only time I do it. :)
My son did the GNR a few times. Not sure this year, he's out of training due to Cov and work commitments. I wouldn't run such a distance. I don't see the point, since I have my own car :-)
Mouse, yes I can imagine the wheelie bin episode being a bit worrying , especially on a Hill. I am further south , I live and work on Teesside but used to travel a lot before COVID. It’s a great area, I am originally from south of London but tell everyone the NE is my real home. I will give you a wave in Sept as I pass on the Great North Run!
Lines, yes, I do live in the NE, near Gateshead. I love it here. The only time when I didn't want to be here, was when this weird weather front hit, flooded everything in a few minutes and until my dying day will I never forget the sound of the lightning bolt hitting the Tyne Bridge. But I was fine, I live on a hill but got very concerned when wheelie bins floated on the street and the man holes started flying 10 meters up in the air :-)
I have to agree with the sentiment regarding he atmosphere on the Board/chat here. It's very similar to INL chat on LSE; broadly positive, constructive in criticism and thought and the belittling and name calling at an absolute minimum.
I'm much more heavily invested in INL- Inland Homes - than here - but amgo is where the action is presently.....!) :) I'll never be joining the million balls of titanium club sadly here :)
Mouse, well we joined around the same time. I have remained silent for a long time because of the c**p posts from the evil people that used to populate the site. I am very new to share buying and have learnt so much from a core of good people on here. I really like the vibe of this now and with a few exceptions the vast majority are decent people and always willing to help those ‘those that just don’t know’. If I understood correctly you live in the NE and bearing in mind it has been my home for the last 30+ years , the people up here are canny! I sincerely hope this camaraderie continues .
Franky: "If I can't have her, nobody will" ;-)
Franky, yes, spite. Lose cannon ;-) disruptive as always ;-)
Maybe Mouse. Just can't see the logic unless it was out of pure spite. He wouldn't be able to get control of Amigo again and so what would be the point?
I think he might of sent a cryptic tweet which could be related to him buying - he could be buying a jp Morgan especially if they continue to buy 1% a day . He could just be doing it as a good investment and have no intention to get back on the board
I definitely don't want to see JB back. His time has been and gone and i guess long term shareholders will be livid if he makes another attempt. We are so blessed and lucky to have Gary and his team on board! Just listening to him speak with passion about the company gets me buzzing!
Exciting times ahead for all of us!
If JB did try to come back it might do wonders for the share price (in the short term). I believe it crashed when he first identified and blew the whistle on the high rates of upheld complaints. As the founder of the company I can understand how gutting it must have been to be a majority shareholder with no real power to influence the actions of the old BoD so I wouldn’t blame him for not being able to stay away from his ‘baby’. - As I haven’t been able to stay away! ;-)
Well, Franky, I still think that the two sudden, brief spikes we had will coincide with the statement that JB tried to force his way back on BoD on two occasions and if he said that won't try again, I would not believe him. The guy is a lose cannon.
Mouse those were the days on this board. I was thinking that the board was addictive (in a good way) because of the quality of the posters. Got so at one stage I was all in (fully invested in her with both my SIPP and ISA) I’ve a much smaller holding now but more confident now with this BoD and outlook for the company which seems much more likely to succeed. Very reassuring to see II taking up positions. Good luck!
IF JB says he s not coming back then I'd believe it. GJ's approach is the right one and therefore what could JB even offer apart from disruption and chaos and confusion. He would invest in something to see it immediately "at risk" with instant capital loss. If GJ's approach was or had failed you might believe a 3rd attempt possible but there is a zero chance this is going on.
LTH, thank you for the link :-) GJ wears hand knitted socks. Therefore he has my vote :-) I love knitting socks lol :-)
Lines I'm only invested in Amigo since 25th August '20 :-) when I stumbled in here, things were right in the middle of the battle, JB selling off his shares in stacks and tweeting a lot and nothing made much sense to me. To be honest, one of the reasons why I invested was the amount of lovely people in here. It's a completely different atmosphere in here compared to most boards on this site. The folks in here had the patience to explain the situation back then, what led to it and how they saw the future for Amigo. I remember at one stage TwistyMinkle getting banned by the mods for a reason we didn't understand, came back with a new account, got banned for that and eventually came back as Twisty after contacting the mod-team and us in here writing: "Mods... let our Twisty back" :-)
I turned up when the Amigo war was hot :-) and I don't everything about the history, I just try to analyse things as they happen :-)
mouse, watch these videos to find out about gary :)
https://www.amigoplc.com/investors/messages-from-our-ceo
Mouse after reading many of your posts you have a much greater in-depth knowledge of what has gone on. There was a video on the Amigo site the other day and with GJ. I have to say he looked very tired which tells me he is burning the midnight oil. He came across as “the interesting guy that you would talk to in a country pub”, no heirs and graces just a decent guy with oodles of passion for what he and his team have planned. He heaps praise on all those around him and that is what gave me confidence to continue to Hold my “wooden balls” for as long as it takes for him and his team to create the company we know Amigo is.
Lines, you got it spot on :-) I don't know GJ I don't even know what he looks like, but he strikes me a guy who is extremely analytical and a brilliant strategist. JB is lose cannon and for GJ's plan to work, JB has to be reigned in in a way that he can never enter the board again. Now I'm thinking back to two sudden spikes in the last few months, when the SP suddenly took off for now apparent reason. It was mentioned that on two occasions JB tried to force his way back on the board and the only way he could that is if he has a majority aka... shares :-)
