I respect there ingenuity and forward thinking, though it is not as simple as bolting on a few new components and knocking off a few km from the brochure range of the aircraft. However, who is to say that future designed aircraft will not use ammonia as a fuel, if they choose to go the route of sticking with the gas turbine design, it's certainly not something I've ever considered.
i'm guessing that by the time this comes to fruition (new engine tech) all aircraft will be composite
I agree Ghengis they don’t but A350 and 787 are the only composite airframes so far. All narrowbodies are alu
Still plenty of aluminium in the most recent design the A350 with 19% and 53% composite in the fuselage.
And yes I am mucksy )
Interesting to know .Am i right in thinking you are a pilot chippy.
Composites don't corrode chippyjo
Hi Mucksy I think the problem with ammonia and aircraft is that ammonia is corrosive to aluminium.
Fuel leaks happen more often than many realise.
I've been invested here for 10 years also, and have invested at 5p and 74p. I've used the vast majority of this time to build up my stake and average down. I've now got a decent size holding but have decided that's enough, no more. I'm now hoping that my patience will bear fruit, dividends even. AB's brash promises over the years have sometimes felt like borderline fraud, but in hindsight it looks as though it was necessary to keep the company afloat. There is now a more 'buoyant' feel (AB's words) and I will be disappointed if there isn't another decent contract announced before Christmas. My feeling is that there are Local authorities in discussions with AFC in respect of EV chargers. I read recently that Bristol CC are now about to start a second procurement round for their 'Green city' agenda, and won't expect to finalise contracts until the new year. This kind of gives some indication of how long it takes to win contracts with public money. This maybe why AB has asked shareholders not to expect contracts immediately after the roadshow. I can hopefully see some decent contracts coming AFC's way, just a little more patience needed, but after 10 years I'm used to it.
Hi Bananaman2,
I’d love to hear you say: told you it’d make a pound:)
Glad you’re being ironic but forgive me missing that - I’ve heard So many predictions of wealth beyond the dreams of all avarice from keyboard gurus That I’ve lost my sense of humour.
Let’s hope.
athansius, I dare say you are correct. I rely too much on word these days to care.
How many Grammar Police does it take to change a light bulb?
Too!
That’s a joke btw :)
Bananaman, I think you will find that Bond had alluded not eluded. It is sales that have eluded us.
RoeninV, its a tongue in cheek comment and yes, one that perhaps I have been thinking for the last 10 years.
With the fundraise capital now in the bank and potentially multiple units in manufacturing, not just the Acciona unit or Extreme E, there should be further confirmation of AFC progress and sales prior to delivery. AB has eluded to this.
My view is fairly positive on AFC and I hate to think that 10 years ago I chose the wrong company. I have a target date where AFC will reach the magical figure and if it doesn't achieve this I guess my time here will be over. Still, thats my opinion and my positive take on this. Certainly not the type of person to turn around in one years time and say I told you so if it does achieve my target price. Thats just pathetic.
Spot on ????
That is an assertion you can make without any risk and which will be totally forgotten within hours let alone a year. If you’re wrong, no one will recall. If you’re correct you can say: “I told you so!” Fact is buddy you haven’t a clue. There are legions of posters I’ve watched come and go since 2006 asserting figures of pounds.
The only thing we know is that the company is asserting advances on all fronts that go way beyond where the company was 14 years ago and yet it’s not showing any significant sales let alone a profit and it’s 2p less than at launch price.
By any standard this is disappointing. However.... I have made some profit and we will soon be out of the August doldrums!
Hi BluebirdBri,
I recently invested into AFC so long term holders like you must have seen it all (or not so much actually). Over these ten years, how would you say AFC is doing? Interesting to hear your thoughts
haha bluebird. Most have been saying that since 2009/10. Lots of long term holders.
The thing is, if you own 1m shares this time next year you will be a millionaire.
I work in the PMO within a R&D dept for a large German engineering company, new stuff takes ages to get to market BlueBirdBri................I guess you were a visionary 10 years too early, this will eventually make it
The other day my Granddaughter lost a tooth , she put it under her pillow and guess what there was a £1 under the pillow the next day.
My question is how many teeth has Adam Bond got left , on his salary he can drag this out for another five years .
I’ve been in this share for ten years and have many shares.
I keep telling myself THIS TIME NEXT YEAR RODNEY we’ll be millionaires ??
