Good to see schroders upping there %
Anthansius congratulations you obviously are very irritable
A lot more than your drivel Mucky. No chips here. Just a desire to be treated with respect. Your posts irritate me so I am now putting you on filter as deciphering them is simply not worth the time.
Oh by the way ,just to let you know i work as hgv mechanic and encounter many foreign nationals daily.drivers, office staff some actually contacting me from europe, I count alot of them as my friends .They are very obliging more so than the English ones .So no i don't have a problem with them
Anthansius and what do you call your reply to me .I have better things to do than be vulger and have more integrity, thats why i used some random symbols .You obviously have a chip on your shoulder .Take a look at a more intelligent board member like bumble ,he replied to me without being abusive, but to the point. You obviously have a lot of issues .Remind me what you have brought to this bb.Any how enjoy your day and lets get back to afc
LLOY is a weird board Newboy. Good to see you back.
I see you have now descended into vulgarity Mucksy. Mucksy by name, mucky by nature. The reality is that you are too lazy to write a proper post and expect others to take more time than necessary to decipher it. That's arrogant.
You don't have a monopoly on working 60 hours a week or "keeping the country going". You will find that many foreign nationals do that as well. Educated people who's skills are lacking.
Quick one folks LLOY is a great board for Brexit chatter, they don't even talk about LLOY anymore. Go on day or night and they argue about the B word... I steer clear nowadays.. just saying
Oops more brexit scaremongering
Anthansius what a @$### you are i may not be the brightest but its people like myself who go out and work 60 plus hours a week and its people like me that keep this country going as well not just the so called educated i can quite easily use my grammer correctly but as the majority of the time I'm at work like now i dip in and out and type as quick as i can and only use my mobile but hey ho
Thanks bumble exactly the comment i would expect from a remainer (tongue in cheek) look most of these problems have been caused by the so called civil servants yes servants playing politics and not brexit itself if they had just got together in the first place for the good of the country then things would have been
sorted a year or so ago its the uncertainty that has caused it .saying that locally it hasn't stopped wren kitchens investing hundreds of millions of pounds and the same can be said for cranswixk foods to name just 2
Athanasius, and the bulldog spirit, don't forget that, we can drown our sorrows in it when the clusterf&ck is fully exposed, unless bulldog spirit is a euphemism for dog wee.
Mucksy, your comments are ignorant in the extreme. I now understand that the quality of your posts and grammar reflect your intellect.
We have lost many millions in research grants already and we have a scientific exodus from the UK, exclusion from multi national projects and stalling innovation.
And what are we left with? Idiots who can't even use an apostrophe.
Ridiculous comment Mucksy!
Coldfeet, I am just pointing out that contrary to your assertion our membership of the EU has not stopped other valued people from non EU countries coming here to work some have managed to get here.
However I rather got the impression that the one thing that switched May on about Brexit was keeping foreigners out of the country. appease the bigots and appear to solve Brexit. As for Johnson who knows what he will do, he will say anything to get a vote. totally unreliable.
Bumble at least if they are not coming here they wont be able to steal our secrets and i wonder why they come here is it because we have some of the best resesrch centres in the world hmm i think we will manage as for the other countries I'm not to sure
No idea what that has to do with the contents of your original post I have no idea, so let's go back to it.
"it is one of the reasons why many academics are against Brexit"
Since when were Pakistan part of the EU?
Like Naveed Akhtar of Pakistan you mean Coldfeet?
He was at AFC about three years ago.
"We have really benefited from freedom of movement allowing scientists to come and work easily in the U.K., ".
So long as they are EU scientists?
Personally I would prefer all scientists to have the opportunity to work in the UK, regardless as to which country they are from.
Thanks for the link to the membrane Wolfy. That patent was posted in 2017, however since then a different employee was brought in to lead on the development of the high power density membrane. She reported on LinkedIn before leaving AFC in the summer she had been working on further patent applications so there will be more to see on this.
As an aside the scientist was Spanish and after several years working in the UK has returned to Spain. We have really benefited from freedom of movement allowing scientists to come and work easily in the U.K., it is one of the reasons why many academics are against Brexit. Let’s hope that what ever happens from now the powers that be do not make it more difficult for scientific talent to come to the UK easily and benefit our science-based companies.
it also allows for the use of dirty ammonia which is 80 % less £$£ than pure ..a huge saving .
Thanks Wolfy, this looks like it explains what it does.
I think I will need to read it several times!
But looks like the new electrode is a five layer sandwich of
gas diffusion layer
electrode
membrane
electrode
gas diffusion layer.
So it will all be in contact in the five layer sandwich. I am sure this will mean a new set of testing.
Hopefully they have already started.
Or maybe they will find it follows the present degradation if the electrodes are the weakest link and the membrane layer is more stable. Perhaps if that they will have confidence without a full 18 months (+).
Richlist ,
hear is the link for the patent membrane
https://www.ipo.gov.uk/p-find-publication-result?PatentNo=GB2567226&JournalNumber=0&EarliestYear=2005&EarliestWeek=1&LatestYear=2099&LatestWeek=53&DocTypes=A&ResultsPerPage=50&Start=0&epj=y
Doh! Was too late at night, well spotted Bumble.
Yes, it sounds like the H+ will pass through the membrane but the OH- will not.
A while ago someone posted a link to a patent application for the membrane.
I don't remember many details, but I have a mental image of the membrane being almost like a 'gel coating' with the electrode material, so indeed did seem to be directly in contact with/integral to the electrode.
So, it might be that this can get better distribution of ions to where they are needed than the liquid electrolyte. It might be this that gets the 5x power output.
And yes Athansius the prospects for this market are stunning. The billion dollar Nafthion market was not for all possible applications, so I think you are still being a bit conservative on the full potential (LOL).
Athansius, I agree. The MCap of AFC for the IP of the business alone is worth much more than the current valuation. Although there is no sense in some company valuations without a sales turnover. With sales and leasing of there pipeline of products and generation of energy (if this is a direction they still intend on taking) the valuation of the business is mind boggling. I am very excited about AFC at the moment after sitting in for 9 years. I really believe this is now the start of something special. The Holy Grail as already quoted.
