' a significant proportion of fools more interested in ridiculous concepts like navy backed passport, ridiculous Big Ben bongs, and wasted runs of independent 50p pieces'
Time being wasted on too much triumphalism in some quarters. We know who they are. I did suggest tolling the bell for a week but prefer to concentrate on sorting the real problems this change over will bring, it's not all plain sailing.
If the UK is a success outside the EU (and I have no doubt it will be), Germany will be the next to leave.
Hopefully trump will screw the eu over
Haha, well said BumbleB, unfortunately we nowneed about 10 years to show how truly stupid it is. Only 2 -4 governments I guess....
90% or more I bet mucksy
Ooh what a FOOL ! Iam lol .don't want to get into an argument about brexit but i wonder how many of you remoaners winged when we first joined the eu and thought we was better off as we were and didn't get to vote on it
Good rant BB. Spot on mate.
BB, Ath, guys I get it, I voted remain also but don’t get defeatist about it. We are the third largest GDP in the EU, projections even after Brexit expect us to overtake France to become 2nd on the block and we are probably the largest contributor to NATO outside the US. January the 31st isn’t the end, it’s just the beginning (major Gorgonzola alert) new trade and movement deals will be made, the powerful German Auto giants are probably already lobbying on our behalf. I’d agree there are some absolute idiots making a lot of noise on the Brexit side but there are also some very sound economic arguments for being somewhat independent. We have the transition period plus any thing that gets dealt in the interim, worst case I think is EEC type deal but beyond that Maybe a Swiss style deal. We are too large, too important as a security partner and too significant in global culture to be Ignored.
BumbleB, you have hit the nail on the head. I wonder how long it will be before we are excluded completely from these projects (this one was 14 European countries....of course we wouldn't be part of it) and how long it will be before the economic indicators show us just what a mistake we have made. We risk becoming an irrelevance on the world stage.
????
I for one thought your rant was spot on BumbleB! Non apology necessary.
/Lord Sim
Sorry, ignore my rant. Too much time reading the Lloyd’s board of late.
" I suspect we would not be top of the collaboration list."
Yes BumbleB, and I suspect that may apply to other areas as well as fuel cells, e.g. university research programmes to mention just one.
Besides, it is an adult European consortium. Why would they want anything to do with a disruptive backward-looking money wasting country whose electorate contains a significant proportion of fools more interested in ridiculous concepts like navy backed passport, ridiculous Big Ben bongs, and wasted runs of independent 50p pieces? We have wasted so much time and money for this country and our soon to be former European partners I suspect we would not be top of the collaboration list.
But it's great to see that this is the way things are going. The market for fuel cells on ships will be massive when it is properly developed, so let's hope that AFC find a place In that market when they are ready.
I think those solid electrolyte fuel cells are a little way off yet chippy. I doubt they would want to wait a couple of years in the hope of having a product. Somewhat risky, given our record.
The good thing is Fuel cell technology is being implemented, the bad is we have products but not sales or integration partners yet.
They are using solid oxide fuel cells, the heat enabling the cracking of ammonia I guess. https://www.prototech.no/news/2020/01/23/prototech-awarded-contract-to-supply-2mw-zero-emission-ammonia-fuel-cell-module/
Not AFC, it’s a German Institute Fraunhofer IMM and Prototech who are developing the fuelcell system.

The one concern I have with that idea, Newboy, is that given how long it has taken them to make liquid electrolyte cells commercial could they rely on AFC to be ready with a solid electrolyte product for completion in four years time?
Good old EU, shame AFC aren't involved in this... Or are they?
