Extra £14bn needed a year for climate, report says https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-53214997
You may be correct Mr. A. However, it's as though he has been on this journey with us, and lifted out spirits with factual information over the years. You are corect though, these conversations have happened after many drinks.....
BB a Christmas saint? He's an honest and reliable poster but I think you may have been on the mulled wine Agusta. And it's only June!
Evening all. I've stayed away from this discussion, as I get quite frustrated when the conversation here takes side routes and becomes meaningless and sometimes mean. I'll add my 10nok for a bit of fun on a Sunday evening.
Many of my family are invested in AFC, have been for many years, and some of us probably with too much capital. We've seen it all, and we all read this forum from time to time from different locations around the world. On the rare occasion we all get together at Christmas, AFC often plays a roll in late night conversations; as does this forum. BB has always been our Christmas saint, the forum Godfather if you will, we've even come to know details of his private life. AB has perhaps been the Christmas grinch, Mr. Scrooge if you will, many of you will have seen the old a pound by Christmas calls in the past.
Sometimes I'll have a drink and fancy a vent on here when I see others going the same route, I share the same frustrations as many of you. What do I do before I go off on a rant? I go over in my head the posts from BB, they've always been level headed and balanced. I then rephrase or forget posting. I may feel better for a few minutes after venting my frustrations, though it has little benefit. I do from time to time reflect my excitement on here after a stream of positive news, and I will continue to do so.
If anyone is taking investment advice from a forum such as this, they should reassess their investment plan. Even if they did, I can't think of any posts that BB has made that would make me click buy for fear of missing out. There have been many posters in the past that thrive of these type of investors that do exist, I may even have been subject to some FOMO buys in my time.
Apart from this, remember: We need CE approval on the EV charger units, AB has said he has many enquiries, and they have had to focus on a specific group of them. I'm now always sceptical to things he says now, though given the road show, the talks with government, the way the world is moving now, I personally believe there may well be a lerger interested party in the background for the EV charger. It may not be their biggest seller in years to come, though sales of this will give them a start and income. We all know, nothing is real until a purchase is made.
Enjoy your lock down relaxtion over there in the UK and use it wisely!
Stick the idiot on ignore Muscorum. I just have and if we all do it it will seem like he has gone away.
Red_hornet. You know full well that muscorum has not made any such posts. They are always measured and balanced posts in response to blatantly inaccurate posts that aim to under or indeed oversell AFC.
Mus/bb - no reply?
You’ve backed this company and posted thousands of comments through thick and thin (although my reserved posting history is a huge negative for you), including all the chlor/alkaline stuff, saying we’ll get there eventually; and didn’t.
You seem to have a massive problem with anyone that doesn’t agree with you; which speaks volumes! Any thoughts on what I said about the thousands of overly positive posts you’ve made which have encouraged people to invest in a tech that never happened?
Please put the crystal ball away
On a EV charge I would imagine you could get between grid charging points anywhere in the uk.
Hi Doc, I remember Jim Gibson saying the liquid circulation in the L cell had advantages for the cell keeping it flushed through. Can’t remember exactly but for stationary power I was left with the impression that represented the better solution.
Thanks Doc7 and I too am expecting to have to wait a bit longer. I personally see the 160kw L version generating sales but until that is built and proved I don’t see why anyone would part with any money for one.
....continued
If my concerns prove founded then it will be mid 2021 before AFC is revenue generating. Not a problem if the potential of the company is realised…..the solid cell could be massive, and Alkamem significant. But it does mean that cash will be needed. I hope the government will see this and support (and tout) the AFC journey. I also think AFC would benefit hugely if a major company saw the potential and either partnered with them or took a stake. It could be the bargain of the year for Shell or similar to pay £60m for a third of the expanded company…peanuts to them, but transformational for their green agenda, and transformational for the attention AFC could give to commercial development of the solid cell.
I also hope AFC is talking to the likes of Grant Shapps who is clearly coming round to hydrogen. And Jo Bamford who could usefully look at fuel cells for buses and has the ear of government (and access to their wallet as shown by the recent hydrogen town announcement). The government needs to be green, it needs to identify the UK-based technology giants of tomorrow, and AFC is one of few candidates.
Just a few musings for a Saturday morning. I would love to see that RNS next week re sales. And we may get it. But the realist in me feels that there might be a bit of a wait yet. I still think it worth waiting. Just.
I don't often post these days, and my last post or two were pretty upbeat. These reflected my enthusiasm at where the company was going, its messaging and the apparent commercial traction.
Red_hornet's line below "....doesn't seem to be from EV chargers" caused me to reflect on this.
The good stuff: I remain very excited about the HydroX-Cell(S). I remember feeling when I first heard about it that it would be the product that makes AFC. I can't see how it won't make the L version redundant. It's power dense, portable, and can run off less pure H2, or NH3, at low temperature. What's not to like ? I felt then that trains and ships would be ideal markets and AFC has since mentioned these, but what about data centres, back up generation with a reduced footprint etc. The potential is huge.
Alkamem: AFC has significantly dialed down the rhetoric on this. It was initially presented as a wonder substance that would be highly disruptive and have huge margins. The latest update was less effusive, although noted its potential and the need for development to build robustness into the product. In some domains it now "matches" existing product performance. Clearly Alkamem has potential, but I am less sure that it is going to generate any meaningful near-term revenue unless some sort of licensing deal is done.
And so to HydroX-cell(L): I have looked back over the RNSs this year. There was an Alkamem update on 23rd June, and on 1st June the Acciona deal was announced. I think construction has great potential, as does the back up market, and construction sites rarely have space limitations so L rather than S will suffice. Possibly a very big market, but the trial is not until 2021 so near term revenue is not likely. So that leaves EV which has been expected to generate the near term cash.
The 19th May RNS was a covid update and just one line was about EV. It reported "an uplift in the number of proposals we are working on". The Covid update of 19th March made no mention of EV, the RNS of 9th March merely noted Tom Pollard's appointment, and that of 12th Feb reported a stop on the roadshow.
Given the above there has been no report or mention in 2020 of the performance of the EV system, the business model, the commercial progress or anything other than the vague mention of MOUs that may or may not relate to EV. It seems curious that EV is receiving so little mention when it is the hat on which AFC has hung initial commercialisation. AFC may prove my concerns unfounded with a RNS on Monday morning announcing sales, but I am worried that EV is being sidelined as the next big thing has come along. Is this a product that anyone wants? I really have no idea despite it being 18 months since EV was announced and eight months since product launch.
continued in next post......
Daz - I’m in the same place. Would just be nice to get an honest update. I’ve no idea where AFC’s first sale is coming from? Certainly doesn’t seem to be from EV Chargers
RH, unlucky investing in Biome, I was in there a few years ago when they did the 10:1 share consolidation as they'd had so much dilution they were in danger of becoming a sub penny share !
A lot of similarities between Biome and AFC, both in massively growing markets, both struggle to development new products, and in Biomes case products that actually make money, I always remembered the more their turnover went up the bigger their losses. Both companies issue RNS's promising the earth prior to fund raising and then go quiet and nothing more is heard.
6 months to first sale ???
if it takes a year and half from product launch to get a sale we may as well all call it a day now.
If that is your conclusion then you may see the last of Adam but I remain optimistic through TP that we will hit a sale and have a greater promotion shift than to date - July and August has always been the key moments for me Through our existing product line .
I believe bumble sometimes writes on the board late I can recall this on many an occasion - bb I hope you have recovered fully from January
I lot of posters were really making a push with stating different pipelines and opportunities for AFC earlier this year and I do urge honest investors to continue to push this through to AFC direct and also to promote through media - I think now as we all may feel is a important time for the company and share price
Saint Muscorum ?.... just an idea... no pressure mus :~)
I do have respect for Muscorum’s comments and knowledge, but it’s annoying to be told that I’m a 4th rate share basher (down from 3rd rate) and have no investment here, when I’ve actually got my life savings pinned on this company. Unfortunately these comments have led to an unnecessary argument.
I started following this board after the disastrous launch of the new Interactive investor web chat, which is who my ISA is with and I invest through, including Stanelco / Biome.....grrr.
I don’t normally post on any social media, but my frustration here made me sign up. The fact I’ve only posted 50 times isn’t really a measure to judge anyone by.
We’re all entitled to an opinion, but it would be nice if we kept it civil and didn’t jump to conclusions and name calling.
I don’t believe AB is the right man for the job, but it’s a contentious issue. I also don’t believe we’ll see any sales this side of Christmas, as AB has told everyone that there’s better products on the way!
Fully support your comments re Muscorum junior.
Don't really want to wait a year for a sale though!!
We are all wanting the same results here otherwise we would not have invested. BB is a bit optimistic for me, but I totally respect his comments and research. Over the years we have disagreed on certain point, especially related to AB, but I will always read and consider his comments, unlike much of the garbage posted by some of the fly by nights..
Not wishing to get involved but... in my opinion any long term holder here will value muscorum's balanced view and diligent research. He is not a ramper by any means but does recognise that complex products take time to come to fruition so is slow cast aspersions when news stalls or projects fail. I have not met muscorum but do feel that his input, over the years, is fair and balanced rather than emotional.
Yes, sorry, thought I’d just used the phrase Rodders. Still, it’s a valid question as to why mr b has supported and promoted this company wholeheartedly at each and every turn, only to be let down like the rest of us.
Red Hornet, regarding your 01.43 post I recall you using that exact phrase yesterday so looked it up and at 00.43 yesterday your post stated "I noticed you avoided the comment about all of your jam tomorrow and ramping comments you’ve made over the last decade. This time next year rodders....."
Muscrum - I have never used the phrase this time next year rodders.....
I know you’ve not used the word ‘Rodders’, but a lot of your wording involves a variety of propositions and modal Verbs. All of which have come to nothing over the last decade, much like del’s early days.
Again you refuse to acknowledge the hard working folk who have lost thousands, based on your.....this time next year theory!
Oh I see that's not good.
Strontium, no, not me mus I only have one id. For the record I've no intention of walking this down up sideways or anywhere, its not really possible anyway in my opinion....... Been stung on aim a few times by the old silence technique, drip fed scraps of non news ~ so at times afc are reminiscent of that..... hope Im wrong its nascent science so different...Obviously Id like them to succeed because cc bothers me alot and I hate oil, but the aim roulette roller coaster usually involves spending some time under water, then either making alot or losing all, some able to quietly deal with that, others attack anything that moves .
Strontium first 11p..... last post 4p.... maybe cut losses ?
