haggismchaggis1 .... But what size system did AFC ship to Estonia ? kW ?
I was replying to your post from 23.10 BumbleB2....."Could it be that at least one of these new L Series fuel cell systems has been subject to testing abroad? "
How many other systems have AFC shipped under NDA that we don't know about, I wonder!
Klunk,
The 'Neom' image of an AFC FC system leaving MSP was published on 8 April.
https://www.multisourcepower.com/news/supporting-the-hydrogen-economy
AFC did an RNS for the system that went to Estoni, which arrived in Estonia on 16 August.
https://www.investegate.co.uk/afc-energy-plc--afc-/rns/first-hydrogen-fuel-cell-system-delivered-to-abb/202108160700126555I/
So this has to be a different system, and the image name "Neom-Setting-off1-web" is indicating it was for the Neom new city build project.
This has to be under NDA, but MSP made a big slip with their image naming. They should have renamed the image when they published it on the Web.
Being involved in Neom would be massive publicity for AFC, and whoever has chosen it (possibly Mace or a.n.other)
Yes great points and nicely articulated Southerhay
This year alone, the world has witnessed the effects of climate change such as those awful fires in Australia and US and the incredible flooding in Germany. For nations to request removal of particular statements from the reports smacks of lobbying from companies within their own countries. Wouldn’t it be better for companies to get behind these new technologies as their new wealth generators and effectively smooth the transition to clean energy? Middle East countries have shown willingness to step into a world of green tech so I’m surprised to see their comments. Once again we need the science to accurately provide direction before fires, flooding, hurricanes and drought accelerate.
Surely, if the technology is there now, we should be using it to accelerate the change to clean energy ?
Surprised to see Saudi named in this report this morning as lobbying the UN to play down the need to move rapidly away from fossil fuels.

“Strange that it was not mentioned by project in the Interim report in the section looking ahead.
It is frustrating that AFC are se secretive.”
And there lies the problem bumbleb that’s a management decision, cheesing off shareholders and doesn’t allow the market to value them appropriately.
Mace are also very busy in this area Neom and the idea is to showcase a limited number of these units in strategic high profile sites not just in the uk but around the world in early 2022 and to use their powers to influencethe rental hire companies maybe there is a three way link
Simon Penney said "The winning car of the first extreme electric race in the Saudi Arabian desert in April was charged with an emission-free hydrogen power generator developed by the British AFC Energy ".....who charged all the other cars then ?.......slip of the tongue i guess.
That could well be the system that went to ABB in Estonia .....but why they have never confirmed that is a mystery .....the upcoming report will surely be more informative.
Is it possible that they are using NDAs to remain quiet ?
Klunk,
Yes, I remember that. Speculation at the time was that it was off to Extreme E as a second system, but that didn't seem to be the case.
If it went for testing prior to the Neom project starting, it would at this point be as an off-grid generator for the construction industry. But also there is scope to use AFC systems for power, either balancing renewable energy using Hydrogen, or just using green Ammonia.
September 22, 2021
"Construction on NEOM's largest development ‘The Line’ is expected to start by the end of this year, the governor of the Saudi wealth fund said."
"NEOM will be built around sustainability and powered by renewable energy."
"It’s going to be zero carbon emission"
https://www.arabnews.com/node/1933566/business-economy
Something to bear in mind ....AFC in that part of the world stands for Asian Football Confederation .....just a thought.
Interesting that this image should reappear.....i post the original link to that story on the 10th April .....there was much debate at the time and as BumbleB2 has just said.... MSP made an amendment to their original post ......but i cannot recall Neom ever being talked about .....we did wonder where that battery pack ended up .....
For those not aware of what Noem is, it is a new $500Bn city being built in Saudi, where Extreme E recently ran an X-Prix.

BB2,
Google says 8 April 2021 for that page appearing.
It’s an ironic world we live in.
Sehr gute Entdeckung
The name of this image is "Neom-Setting-off1-web.png"
Why put 'Neom' into the name of the image, I wonder....
