mcpickle - the rig personnel will be from Nordic-Calista Services
this might sound stupid, but here goes.
who is doing the drill, my mate who works on a drilling rig asked me, I thought it was us 88e who was drilling...he said its normally schlumberger, haliburton, baker Hughes who come to drill for companies...he says alot depends on the company who's is doing the drilling
Le Major once again another great post. Must be hard or bothersome for some to do some basic research though. After all we are all playing with cold hard cash here. I am sure you know what I mean. Cheers
Assuming the "top collar" (wide steel pipe & concrete) was set over the weekend and proper drilling started yesterday, at 8-900 feet/day, we could be setting another seal on Thursday/Friday so this time next week we could be at Indigo. I think someone else may have said something similar recently but my attentions are elsewhere at present - but worth reiterating Broms point that these seals are set at intervals. They can take a few days to withdraw gear, drop a liner, cement it in place and leave to harden then they start lowering a mile of steel tubes with a sharpened drill bit on the end and start drilling again. At least this is a bit more dynamic than waiting for paint to dry.
Seriously cat , smiths do not make blue chips, do they? Why we are here what is your favourite smiths flavour if it is not too personal. Ha Ha?

smiths crisps
my first experience with blue chips
sorry lol cat
Hi Bridgedogg1,
As you ask, it was I who posted on 25th February an estimate of the depths of our seven targets. I am not aware that an official statement of the depths has ever been published, and I did not claim accuracy.
I based it on an assumption that the scale on the LHS of slide 15 had a linear relationship to depth.
However, a more knowledgeable poster than I has since explained that the scale represents the period of time taken for the seismic waves to return to the surface. The speed of the wave varies according to the strata it is passing through, and is also likely to be affected by temperature and pressure, so the scale cannot be linearly related to depth.
Therefore I do not reproduce my estimates here (but have given you enough information to locate my original post if you wish).
In the end, the depth of the targets should matter little to us holders - it's the quantity, quality and recoverability of the oil that resides there.
Best of luck to all holders.

14/21 AIM watchlist shares Blue today, all my "blue chips" blue as well for perspective.
Yes indeed, some ground to recover. Onwards and upwards though! (Or downwards in terms of drilling!) :-)
This would be a nice rise if it hadnt already fallen by 30%
Keefy, 11:24. No hard feelings from me m'dear! All just discussion. GL.
Chartman 11:16, very diplomatic! Hear hear.
TD, we will look back at this day & chuckle as we bathe in £20 notes.
I had my initiation about 2 years ago & just continuing the tradition.
No hard feelings buddy & no pedanticness intended
keefy
Yes, I know that. Let me clarify. I initially used the 30 days to TD to provide an "average" of 380ft/day for a new poster. Keefy suggested the average was more like 425 ft/day, since "drilling" had started (suggesting that "spudding" had already been done). I was merely trying to ask him where he had got that from. Since the RNS only mentioned "drilling", (and "spudding" involves drilling), did we spud yesterday or was spudding done 3-4 days earlier? As I said earlier, all a bit pedantic. I think people are taking this a bit too far!
TD 11:11
Apologies TD, you are quite right.
But, "spud of Charlie-1 is anticipated in late February", isn't Early March.
Just trying to offer concise responses.
keefy
To get us off of the spud or not spud topic, i am going to suggest the best bit of the drilling is when they vajazzle the hole.
Looking at the shape of Charlie in the 3d imaging, while its not a huge accumulation the shape - narrow but deep - may give some significant oil pay in terms of depth which would be good news.
Upper Stellar is an absolute monster, looks like up to 600m bbls in that single target, no wonder PMO is so interested in seeing what it can deliver.
My rough estimates:
Indigo 11th March
Charlie 13th March
Upper Lima 21st March
Lower Lima 23rd March
Upper Stellar 28th March
Middle Stellar 30th March
Lower Stellar 31st March
HRZ 2nd April
Initially, when a new oil well is going to be drilled, a larger drill bit is used than what is going to be used to get to the final depth. This first drill clears out dirt, rock, and other debris and creates a hole in the surface that is then lined with concrete, forming a barrier to avoid any contaminants from bleeding into the groundwater.
Once the initial hole is complete, the main drill bit is attached. The day the main drill bit begins drilling into the ground—a process called spudding in—is referred to as the "spud date." In cases of offshore oil rigs, the spud date occurs when the drill begins working on the seafloor, not when it first breaches the water.
Keefy, that was "anticipation", not actual.
Tarth see attached link, 0.45 seconds shows the drill bit ( or hole opener ) at start of well known in oilfield as spudding the well https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBOtXD_UQSo
TD 10:45
Spud date was mentioned in previous Ann.

• Spud on track for late February
Detail
The ice road to the Charlie-1 location is now >80% complete and expected to be finished in the next two weeks.
Ice pad construction is due to commence shortly and mobilisation of the Nordic Rig#
3 to site should begin in
approximately 10 days. Consequently, spud of Charlie-1 is anticipated in late February.
keefy
Topof, quite. So was that yesterday, or a few days before? That's all I was querying from Keefy.
"Spud date ’ means the date of first actual penetration of the earth with a drilling bit." Cheers
Garrym, 10:55 "Drilling - simpler for market to understand, non oil investors etc"........which is why I was asking Keefy where he'd got the idea that spudding had already been done, and the RNS's "drilling" comment meant actual drilling had commenced. I've seen no mention of spudding, so assumed the RNS meant that process had begun, but referred to it as drilling. Who knows? All a bit pedantic really :-)
