Came 2nd by a whisker this year to HICL in the infra awards. I am fine with that. Lots ofpotential and thesemanagers know what they are doing. So far held for 15 years and no reason to do otherwise!
Hi oldbutnowisa,
If you are holding cash in your isa, try CSH2, overnight bank rate ETF paying around 5%
cheers
Just sold this and another IT long held, to keep the cash in my Fidelity ISA earning a modest interest. After mulling over this 'tishey' market and the distinct possibility of an election fairly soon and all the aggro in US, Russia and China, I concluded that the argument for holding at least 10% of p/f in cash was just too strong.
This IT has ticked all the savers' boxes for over a decade and I have been happy to hold ever since near day 1.
Think infestructure pulled back way too much today. I have added.
From UK tax site
https://www.gov.uk/apply-tax-free-interest-on-savings
It reduces taxes on the company and you can use the £5,000 starter savings tax allowance. If you go over your £12,570 tax allowance it reduces your £5,000 starter savings tax allowance proportionally.
The allowance covers everything paid as interest.
Investment trusts which stream interest as dividends.
Bonds
P2P
Savings accounts
And OEIC which pay dividends as interest? Not sure how they can do that as most assets where you can do that are illiquid.
Those who took part in the placing are now down over 7%
Been in this almost since the start. Put under your pillow and sleep tight. Theyare here for the loooooong term and know what they are doing,
Green energy revolution
I like in these company RNS how they say they are ‘pleased’ to announce you are having your holding diluted. I was certainly not pleased to read it.
As the proceeds of the placing are being used to generate growth in earnings via investments and reducing debt I am sure it will prove beneficial.
The share price is down because it might dilute existing earnings per share initially but I think think its a misguided reaction.
New to this share, bought in just before the placing…
What’s everyone’s views on new acquisitions? Does the share price tend to fall or rise on new acquisitions?
Hi Tom78 and Bobsto12,
This, I believe, is what is called the "interest-streaming regime", and it seems to be something that several infrastructure ITs do, including some I have shares in. Look at "ORIT" as another example.
I imagine that it won't be done for the benefit of individual shareholders (every person's circumstances of course being different) but for the benefit of the company (and thereby for the benefit of its shareholders as a whole).
If the shares are held in an ISA, I may be wrong, but I think that the difference and designation in practical terms would be purely academic. If they're not held in a tax-free wrapper, then of course the difference may have tax implications for the individual.
ATB, Mike.
I noticed this and HICL started declaring some of the dividend payments as interest a few years ago. I assumed it was so holders could declare the some of the payment as interest to make it more tax efficient if their dividend allowance has been reached. I'm not completely sure though.
On enquiring why my recent dividend hadn't been reinvested by II it seems most of the latest dividend has been designated as "interest". Seems bizarre to receive interest when you don't have any debt issued by a company.
One of my favourite holdings. Just delivers year In year old.
Old faithful!
Hi Pursestrings. Got to be careful now because higher interst rates are not likely to benefit stocks like this, which give safe but not spectacular divis. I am just staying put and expect the SP to fall so making the yield more attractive to buyers. I might THEN sell something else to go heavy on these!
Nope I'm with you. Cant make my mind whether to top up. Certainly not selling
only me on here for last 6 months!
Just looked at my comment 6 months ago and still applies. an't say that for much else in the p/f!!
......the latest Annual Report. Makes an old investor very happy!
How do they calculate their NAV? Isn´t this a black box? How to value this company?
today lovely. One of the only ones in PF that I have not got out of or trimmed in this **** market. Only insolvency practicioners stand a good chance of coining it now so I have bought into Manolete Partners (in spite of their prohibitive turn!)
Final results last year 11th May.
