Today’s news that Greater Manchester Police will now investigate a complaint made against Angela Rayner, comes after a sustained campaign by the Conservative Party and their Fleet Street allies.
The story was first brought to prominence in a book by the former Conservative peer and non-dom Lord Ashcroft, and it has since dominated political coverage in Westminster, despite the seemingly trivial nature of the allegations.
In fact so keen have some publications been to push the story, that they have ended up being complicit in misleading their readers about it.
This week a number of publications, including the Daily Express and the Spectator ran a video and accompanying news story suggesting that there had been a grass roots protest by ‘tax activists’ against Rayner during a campaign visit in Yorkshire.
In reality, as we revealed this week, the so-called ‘protest’ was actually a campaign stunt organised and staged by the Conservative Party itself. We spoke to one of the Conservative activists involved, who confirmed that it had in fact been an operation put on by his own party.
Also revealed by Byline this week was an alleged breach of electoral rules by a Conservative Party police and crime commissioner, as well as news of the Conservatives sending out fake ‘driving charge notices’ as part of an attempt to scare voters into handing over their data to the party
These stories are the latest in a growing number of examples of dirty tricks and desperate tactics being pursued by the Conservative Party in the run-up to the general election and shows why the work of Byline’s own Vote Watch project is so important.
Another good video from Matt Johnson - the screenshot of a spreadsheet at 1 min 15 seconds is disturbing.

The allegations that there is video of 3 men urinating on him should be reason enough for him never to have been on a select committee.
When it came out the ACT was to be paid weekly, this is still the law...DYOR

"The State Pension changed on 6 April 2016 for people who reach State Pension age from then onwards. This is men born on or after 6 April 1951 and women born on or after 6 April 1953.
The old rules (which include basic State Pension and Additional State Pension -SERPS) were complicated, making it difficult to know how much you’d get until you were close to State Pension age. With the new State Pension, people will know from a much younger age how much they’re likely to get, providing a solid base for their saving and retirement planning."

Message for Trek really who, I think, had a miserable time over in IQAI
I just wondered (or feared as I still have £2K sitting in in IQAI) if there's a danger the CEO (whose name its best not to mention, like saying 'Macbeth') might announce the company is insolvent and just wind it up for his own benefit. I confess to complete ignorance of insolvency process but I reckon the company is in a very fragile financial situation and the CEO - who holds 30% of the stock does not have a good rep (whether deserved or otherwise). Any help or guidance appreciated. Good weekend all.
