After a brief lull, the flow of company results is starting to increase again, with big names such as Admiral, Diageo, Petrofac, G4S, Antofagasta, Cairn, Wood Group, Serco, Tullow, WPP, BHP Billiton and Kazakhmys all set to report.[19 Aug '11]

Wednesday will see the release of the minutes of the August meeting of the Bank of England's Monetary Policy Committee (MPC), just a week after the Bank of England released its quarterly inflation report.[12 Aug '11]

The insurance sector interim results stream continues with figures from Standard Life on Thursday. Panmure Gordon, which thinks Standard Life is in a "period of change" is predicting operating profits of £209m and an interim dividend of 4.6p a share.[5 Aug '11]

The second full week of July has a clothing theme with clothing outfits as diverse as Marks and Spencer, ASOS, Supergroup, Burberry and Associated British Foods (owner of Primark), all giving updates.[8 Jul '11]

Whitbread did relatively well during the credit crunch era, with hotel users trading down to its Premier Inns and coffee addicts finding themselves unable to give up the Costa Coffee habit, but since the company's full year results at the end of April, investors have turned a bit sour on the company.[17 Jun '11]
