Judge backs Javid over Lancashire fracking planning permission

Wed, 12th Apr 2017 11:05

(ShareCast News) - A High Court judge has dismissed a challenge by anti-fracking campaigners fighting a government decision to grant Cuadrilla planning permission at a site in Lancashire.

The Preston New Road Action Group (PNRAG) and campaigner Gayzer Frackman had suggested that Communities' Secretary Sajid Javid's decision to approve fracking in Fylde was not fair or lawful.

But their claim was dismissed in the High Court in London on Wednesday.

Last month, the campaigners pointed out that the planning application by Cuadrilla had been refused by Lancashire County Council in 2015, but later granted following an appeal and a planning inquiry.
