Thanks JJSS Spread betting is not something I have ever considered doing. It sounds as though it it something you need to be very hands on at. My theory is never buy in a rising market and be prepared to wait and of course don't get greedy. The first two I tend to stick with but I must admit greed has been my downfall on more than one occasion
HAlFMIST, thank you for the info. I see, you mean business! I am playing wiht a fifth of this size and missed on taking some huge profit a while back, when I was not satisfied with soem 40% profit on paper (It's called stupid greed , backed by false expectations) . Since then, I've turned to spread betting. All the best to you!
Hi JSSS. My stake including stamp duty was £454,998.32 which bought me 213030 shares at a dealt price of 2.12515.. The reason for the odd shareholding is I asked my broker to get me as many shares as they could for £455k and they cannot tell you how many that sum buys until the deal is done. The £455k was basically the sales proceeds from my last venture in to RBS in July 14 - £10 k which for some strange reason I wanted to hold back just in case the deal went Harry Karry My sale proceeds for the holding of Barclays was £509038.28 giving me an overall profit of £54039.96. The £39.06 should get me the drinks not too sure about the meal though. It depends on whether we settle for the excellent fish +chips they sell down at my local on a Friday night.
Afternoon All. What fantastic news. I woke up from my lunchtime nap and could not believe my eyes. I have just sold my Barclays shares at a profit of just over £54k having held them for just two weeks!! Nice work if you can get it. Sorry if I appear to be gloating but just on a very big high at the moment. I thought I had made a very big mistake abandoning RBS for Barclays for the first time but they came good literally in the last couple of hours. My luck is bound to run out at some stage so hopefully this is it for me trading shares. I said that last time though. For the long termers for what my opinion is worth I genuinely feel all the bank shares will be on an up leading to the General Election. I just don't want to risk my capital or get greedy. Good luck everybody. I am taking my Mrs out for a few drinks and a meal tonight . She has offered to drive so I don't want to miss out.
