A pint of port... steady on, Maisies has enough problems keeping its licence as it is, without you staggering about the wellgate. Interesting thought that they might just be paying out ppi to anyone. I have been too honestl here. I always say to the telecallers.. not got a claim, never took it out, cheerio. Maybe I should make claims and see how I get on. LOL.

Some of the money has rolled our way for helping people out at very cheap commission rates. Took one bank ages to acknowledge receipt of the claim.

Ah if only I had looked into that guy from the NU who sold me the 2 year low cost starter 27 year endowment mortgage for the damp ridden ground floor repossession flat in Shawlands which my lawyer (chumy with the other side's (bank) no doubt) and Phoebe the estate agent said had attracted a lot of interest - I guess they meant the 15.75% interest rate. Really wanted a repayment one but the premiums were low for the first two years I suppose. Still couldn't afford a ticket to the garden festival but the guy on the top floor created some excitement by inviting me up to see the fireworks from George Square at the New Year for the European city of culture celebrations.

Have relatives in the west country myself now and 2 new arrivals to pamper and coming to a county near you - better run lol

Missed all your posts last week including fifi's. Get me some of that Lanark blue for the next time I'm at Maisie's (Andy Goram connection there to keep up the fitba theme lol) x

QE seems to be some truth in that , if the claim amount is less than it would cost for the bank to question it they just pay out , seemingly . People get very het up about PPI but to my mind it's been pretty good for the economy over the last few years . Most of the money paid out has probably been recirculated back into the banking system one way or another , hard to tell just how much real pain it's caused the banks

"I get the feeling that people are claiming on old loans whether they had PPI or not, and the banks are just paying out without checking" Surely cannot be as simple as that can it if there are intermediaries taking hefty percentage based commissions for pursuing these claims successfully.

Thanks for all the advice. Brigadoon – I don’t think a share that has risen 20% over 3 years (3.50/2.90) can be called a croc of sh!t! That’s not a bad return, much better than a savings account. However I am getting a bit frustrated with RBS, I had expected it to be doing much better by now. In my opinion the share consolidation was a major blow to shareholders (I know it shouldn’t affect it, but I can’t help thinking that the SP would have risen more if it was valued in pence rather than pounds).
I do still think that the banks generally are a good investment, eventually they will put all the scandals, fines, PPI etc, behind them and then with they will get a big boost. Surely there cannot be many more people to claim for PPI? I must be the only person in the country who has not claimed. Like any financially astute person I always refused this cover. I get the feeling that people are claiming on old loans whether they had PPI or not, and the banks are just paying out without checking.
