RE: PFD go frozen
27 Sep '14
Interestingly, back in 2007 the old Premier Foods "management" team gifted Kerry Group with a £1 million quid frozen foods acquisition. Gavin Darby seems to be astute & clued up, I'm sure he realises what a schoolboy error that was- http://www.thegrocer.co.uk/fmcg/kerry-plans-to-grow-frozen-meal-brands/121773.article

now those new product ranges should help sales, I bet most people on here have bought something similar to put in our freezers due to hectic life styles.

Been here before?

Sorry if anyone wants to post any comment on my views but I'm off on two weeks hols...not being rude .
Dairy Crest announced they had to reduce the price they are willing to pay farmers for milk due to pressure from the Supermarkets. Back to the same circle as before and a warning of what is coming. Steel helmets all round and batten the hatches, were in for a rough ride.

Long Haul
26 Sep '14
Sadly I never found a magic wand in industry, all the Recovery Plans required detail planning, not be distracted by the noise and be clear where the team is going.
Poor management have put the company in this position some of it could have been spotted some of it not, but the current team are focussed, have put the strategy together and are getting the 'names' they want. They have placed the company in a fighting position with breathing space to operate.
There are no short term reasons for this share to rise, sorry ,but its a long haul against the prevailing winds but if we stick to the plan the company can move upwards.

Reduced costs

Looking at the cost of basic ingredients, wheat, sugar and rapeseed are all 15-20% cheaper than a year ago.
surely this will benifit profit margins?
