JP Morgan Cazenove reissued their overweight rating on shares of Aviva plc (LON: AV.) in a research report released on Monday morning, Analyst Ratings Network reports. JP Morgan Cazenove currently has a GBX 393 ($6.03) price target on the stock.

Aviva shares were boosted by first-quarter figures this morning, gaining 13.3p (4.1%) to 336p. The insurer told us that new business is up 18% to £191m, due to improved profitability in its UK and Asian markets. Restructuring costs caused a £54m hit, but that was more than matched by a 10% reduction in operating expenses to £769m with the firm still on track for cost savings of £400m.
The firm's net asset value has risen 9% to 302p per share, and its internal debt level is down by £300m. Chief executive Mark Wilson said: "Progress so far has been satisfactory and there is a great deal more we need to do for our shareholders."
