I read the post and your conclusion. I am sorry to say I fail to find much to boost my confidence in blinkx given the answers posted to the various questions, and I am also sorry to say that I don’t come to the same conclusion to which you arrived, this from what you’ve posted.
In particular, I do not like the sound of this quote at all (all quotes below from SW’s post):
“The inflection seen referred specifically to m/m revenue growth from the low point in July, I have the impression that this trend has continued but maybe not to the degree management would have liked following the drop off in aggregated supply.”
Also, they finally admitted that any 'unfair advantage', as SC infamously called it, no longer matters very much (if we actually had one). That, along with the general tone, does not seem all that encouraging to me, especially when taken in relation to what others in the industry say about their businesses.
And furthermore, it seems to me they’re telling us they have not integrated all the businesses they’ve bought very well. This can be gleaned from the statement about our lack of corporate identity which follows:
“In the last c. 8 months management have taken a hard look at who they are as a company and the c. 11 brands under the umbrella that have become an unwieldy roadmap somewhat representing a lot of M&A rather than the characteristics of a market strategy.
Management engaged with a consultancy and reached out to demand partners and are rebranding the core assets and putting the abilities of Blinkx Video, Burst, Grab and Rhythm under one banner (master brand) with a name they've selected. Dan is in the final stages of website and identity development and the existing individual websites will fade out evolving the sub brands into one presence before removing the band aid off the brands and associated properties. Blinkx will not be the dominant brand that goes to market, it will remain a holding company PLC.”
There is more to the above where they mention “a lot of inefficiencies” at this point in time; and the fact that the blinkx name is still tarred with the ugly brush, etc., and blinkx is “inferior” to a lot of our sub brands and they want to remove the blinkx name from the conversation.
They go on to say they’re “excited”; that the prospects of the new “brand, image and propositions look great”, but then they go on to say it’s “slowly rolling out”. Wtf? “Slowly?” Then they go on to say the industry “is moving so fast”. And we’re changing “slowly”? Go figure.
All in all it confirms to me fears I’ve had for quite a while. But I (we) won’t really know until May.
That being said, I still think (I pray to Money, to be more accurate) this stock is undervalued. Even if we only manage to pe
Blnkx have been utilising the firm glballogic in ukraine, working on complex integration projects and cloud migration among others over the last 9 months.. Suspect it offers great value for the shorter term project needs of blinkx given all the m&a of late and avoids expensive and slow capacity build up within blinkx directly.. Seems by SP180s comments fromDan to be working too
Great write up and thanks. It's a Shame I am too thick to understand most of it , so therefore find myself in the position of liking the just of what they are saying but wondering if perhaps Dan is doing what Blinkx management have historically done which is baffle us with bull...t . I like the re branding idea , however I think the use of the phrase "road map" should be banned for eternity. At the end of the day all this hard work they are doing still has to earn money and for once I find myself agreeing with cautious analysts. Having said all that, it's entirely possible that at the price it's a cracking gamble. More importantly , this week my horse has his first run over hurdles and if I don't have a heart attack as a result of watching him, then hopefully will be lucky enough to see Blinkx emerge from the ashes.
Best wishes to you too... We've been threw the mill on this share, every emotion under the sun! We need some good luck. Hopefully though, won't be a wing and a prayer from now on...future definitely looking more promising....
Next RSN should get the II's taking note and take us seriously again. I think that's been the whole problem, they haven't quite understood the dynamics of the company hence they've stepped back. Just a confidence thing I suppose, similar to PI's. Just need to see the figures now for proof that Blinkx can deliver with all the new acquisitions. Don't mind how long it takes as long as it moves upwards and onwards...patience again...
Might be rewarded with the figures next month or two so not too long to wait now.
Was delighted to see yahoo connection still active.
Okidoky, let's see what tomorrow brings... I'm out all day in Leeds tomorrow so no internet connection for me...that's if I get there.. We've got the sea mists in from The River Mersey here all day., very atmospheric...flipping chilly too!
